Clean place and very secure for the whole family. Family slept over for the night with no issues. Caught nice carp, just over 8kg.

Visit it for parkrun. Excellent walk on paving for 80% of the course.

Good place to fish, jog, cycle, take the dogs for a walk. Child friendly, lots of playground and a good place for kids to run around. People go there for outdoor parties and to have a braai. Lot of geese there mostly they keep their distance but when its feeding they cross the road where people feed them. Unfortunately there is criminal element that lurks in the park. Would be lovely to see the SAPS K9 unit doing a patrol when it's jammed packed.

A little overgrown from all the rain we have had recently, kids could still enjoy the play area and had loads of fun. Dam looks clean and their were rowers up and down all morning.

Nice local park and dam. Excellent for canoeing/kayaking. Great paths for walking. Off-leash dogs can be a problem. Unfortunately the water quality can be problematic and also dustbins not emptied. Always be aware of surroundings.

Great place to take the kids for a bike ride or to the jungle gyms and exercise course. We bass quite a bit on the dam wall and closer to the rebel side of the dam. Dont believe the toilets are accessible as yet due to covid.

Clean with ample play area and outside fitness gym. Dam is clean and maintained from weeds. Not too sure about the bathrooms, looked unclean from the outside. Would recommend coming with own toilet paper. Can fish at the dam saw people camp tents on the dam banks. Good for running with ample paved ares to run and kilometers markings on the paving.

The toilet facilities for men and women are disgusting. The smell at the door is unbearable. No one has cleaned those toilets in years. We have small children and women that enjoy the day out but with no clean toilets won't recommend people going there. The grass is cut and people were fishing and feeding the ducks which is won derful for the children. Let me.know when the toilets are being redone and cleaned. Someone needs to be hired to e sure the toilets are kept clean. Then I will go there

Love Homestead. Lovely to relax and just go there to unwind. Loved the atmosphere while there. Take your beverages, your choppie and whatever else, and go there to get out of the house for a few hours and have a relaxing, unwinding day. Just cut the grass please municipality. Will go back anytime.

Very peaceful, Egyptian geese, long walks along the edge of the dam. Awesome, except for the hyacinth that is building up. Exercise areas, kiddies playground. Good place to sit and chill.

Nice stretch of land allowing people to park their cars, interact with the geese in the area. There are public braai stands, although in the area we were in they were vandalised so we had to use our own braai stands. Great atmosphere, nature walk, dog walking park.

Open 24 hours a day, even during the covid lock down. I come here to take photos of birds. I've seen others fishing and they say they've had great catches. Good for walking the dogs or just taking a stroll for exercise and fresh air.

Overgrown, no bins have been replaced since forever. Rubbish lying around. Just general disrepair. But for jhb, probably the best place I've seen.

Nice open space to have a walk about alongside the banks of lake. Tranquil setting benches along side to rest and watch the ducks. Noticed a few paddlers exercising on the water and a few anglers too. Nice surroundings with large properties on the banks of lake. Enough parking. I found it safe to go there. Situated in Farramere. Updated..a new path alongside lawns finished for walking, cycling or jogging, nice open air gym erected, braai areas constantly cleaned, embankment tidied up.. frequented by catch and release fishermen, bass, carp etc. Really peaceful area, with rarely a vagrant

A great man made lake with natural fauna and flora in abundance. What's lacking is the daily upkeep and the common sense of users of the facility to keep it clean. The basics are lean but one could have a great day if you prepare in advance for the visit. Ablutions are in a terrible state with limited waste bins. Very little fresh water taps available and possibly long grass to deal with. Safety in groups/numbers is best and alone walks with plenty of people and pepper spray in attendance would be best. There are some dodgy areas on the extreme ends of the park that I would avoid.

I love sunsets at homestead, it's a nice easy walk on a paved pathway. I feel safe when I am there.. it's a chilled community of people fishing, jogging, walking their dogs. There is an outdoor gym, picnic spots and jungle gyms for the children.

In need of maintenance. Broken benches. Toilets look out dated and unsafe from the outside. Can only imagine that it's unhygienic on the inside as there are no cleaners. Also, gets really crowded on public holidays etc. Area could use security.

Lovely settings, but people are allowed to walk their dogs without being compelled to pick up after their animals so be careful of droppings in the vast lawns and walkways. A lot of litter strewn about on weekends.

A beautiful setting between Boksburg and Benoni with lots of place to beaai, take the dogs for a long walk, or go fishing with plenty of shade. Lots of good parking, close to all amenities with the only real downside being that there are no public ablution facilities.

Enjoyed the late afternoon with my grandchildren at the park. The park wasn't crowded and the facilities were easily accessible.

Love coming here for an afternoon walk! It's generally clean and relatively safe as there are many joggers and cyclists whole exercise and families who walk next to the dam. Parking is next to the road and also relatively safe although there aren't security guards around. Haven't experienced rowing or fishing here, but it is also available if preferred.

Lovely family and pet friendly short dam scenic walk with play areas for children and outdoor workout area for the whole family, fishing is allowed in the dam as well as canoeing, the only downside is that you need to visit early as some times there are inconsiderate individuals who pollute the area with rubbish and broken glass bottles. There are very few public places such as these that everyone can enjoy we should take greater care of these places so we may enjoy them for years to come.

Quite a nice dam to come and relax while fishing. The paved path is good for a run too. Lots of play areas for kids. People come to fish with their own gazebos and braai stands. The park could use some benches though.

Large park, comes equipped with braai stands just bring your meat and charcoal. Loads of play places for the kids and for those who love fishing, don't hesitate to bring along your fishing rod. It is clean as well. Though I don't see any functioning toilets around and the litter bins seems not to function.

Quiet clean - ish place. A bit of tranquility in the city. Being close to nature l, even if it's a man-made establishment is still good for the spirit. Until some disrespectful person arrives with music blaring to screw the peace up. But that's what man does is break whatever nature provides. All in all a good experience.

This is Benoni by the beach, or at least the closest you will get to watch an epic sunset at a waterfront. It would be 5 stars if the bathrooms worked and where functional, trust me, you do not want to go into these bathrooms, eeek. But do go watch the sunset, that is why I rated 4/5 and you can see many families and couples enjoy their time with it being rather safe with the bonus of frequent CMS patrols.

I was impressed. Took my fur babies there this morning. Clean and tidy. Felt safe. Only real downside is the public toilet facilities are shocking, I wouldn't use them. So as long as you don't need to tinkle you'll be OK, pity. Also no taps, so if you planning on a long walk, especially in these temperatures best take water for you and your fur babies.

Perfect for anytime of the day if you just want to get some air, take a walk, have a picnic, braai, walking your dog or brisk walk. It’s also very safe, there’s always security patrolling and traffic officers driving past.
