A 120 year old house where household artifacts of old times are on display. It gives a good idea how people used to live a century back in this region. An entry ticket of Rs 10 is charged. There is a lady attendent inside the house, but mostly she was busy doing her work rather than guiding around the house. It would have been nice if she explained a bit more.

A 150 year old house, retained in original form and made into a museum . Lots of interesting old things and photographs . Young, urban people can have a glimpse of how their grandparents lived once . Well maintained . It is a small house in a narrow lane , like some other old structures ,so look out for the name board and two life sized dolls on the verandah.

Kanchi Kudil What a place it is! 120 year old heritage still being kept alive for this generation. It was amazing to witness so many antique pieces that were used by our ancestors even still many of them are being used in many villages in different parts of India. Even though it was peeling hot outside, temperature kept inside without A/C is totally cool. That’s our ancestors style of being cooled off in summers! A must visit place in Kanchipuram. .

This is one of the famous museum of olden age type house and other articles. It's very near to Kamachi Amman temple. Kamachi Amman temple is closed 12.00 pm to 4 pm. During that time one can visit this temple and spend your valuable time. Entry ticket is Rs 10

An old tiled roof house said tobe 120 years. It is private property. An entry fee of 10 is being collected. Old brass and copper utensils, etc can be seen. An old village house in the modern concrete jungle.

One of the best places I visited in Kanchipuram. My humble respects and appreciation to the Mudaliyar family who so thoughtfully preserved the old memories of the house and dedicated it for public display. The house reminisces the past glory of the good olden days, the cultural aspects and humble way of living then. So much for the younger generation to see back and look at their roots. Thanking the family once again to let us have a look at the house which immensely interests people like me to remember my own forefathers and the environment around them.

The house is more than 100 year old and is open to public for visit . The house is mudhaliar community family lived here . It has separate place for prayer, room for young children, dressing room, kitchen, bath, varanda , many utensils used by them are at display ... We were told Foreigners visit by prebooking with meals . Entry fee is nominally collected . It’s in heart of the city.

A good example of showing traditional style of Tamil Nadu house. It shows architecture and planning of house from Tamil Nadu. Furniture and vessels also are kept in traditional style. Should be more examples like this in other places.

Visited this place today...we were so happy and excited to see the 100 yr old house and the household items they used. It was scorching hot outside but didn't feel the heat even a bit inside the house That's our ancestors architecture. Kids also enjoyed a lot. Must visit place in kanchipuram

This is old Tamil house depicts lifestyle amd culture of tamilian family. If you are non tamilian you can visit this place to know and understand the tamilian culture. You can have lunch in the house but on prior intimation that you would like to have lunch in kanchi kudil. They provide both veg and non veg food. I don't know the exact rates of meal.

It's shows the old living life of TamilNadu peoples. Good place to spent max 30 minutes as it is at walking distance from Ekambaranathar Temple, specially when you have nothing to do....Only you will have to spent 10 Rs as entry fee......

(Visited in February 2021) - It's a small Private museum that depicts an old house, few articles of the past. Worth visiting for few fleeting moments, if you could squeeze time. The description of Kanchi as per Manimekalai is epic!

It's 106 years old house depicting how people live during that time... Which utensils they used, their telephone, kitchen etc... Overall a good place to visit.

We were Not allowed to take photos during our visit today but we came here after seeing all the beautiful videos in YouTube. Our son was quite taken aback as he wanted to take pics. Certain rooms were dark and the takecarer ( a Lady) never cared to switch on the lights for us. We had to search the switches and on it ourselves. Such was the hospitality in this nagershu kanchi. By the way we visited this place as a part of our architectural tour.

An 18th century house converted into a mini museum to give visitors a taste of how life used to be like in the second oldest continuously inhabited city in India. They charge s nominal fee of Rs. 10 per person. I enjoyed the visit..

  • 1/5 Soujanya B. 2 years ago on Google
It is neither a museum nor a heritage place. It is a house of someone who was recognised by British back then and hopefully must have done good deeds. There is nothing new in this house. There are 3 old people to manage the house and collect fee from visitors which is 10 rs per head. We found only one this interesting in the entire house which is some sort of a calendar. Looks like it is coded. We asked them to explain what it is and they didn't know about it. Looks like owners of the house didn't want to demolish it or keep spending for its maintenance.so, it's been turned into a museum.

Kids, elders, old people , all have something to relate and wonder at this house. I found brass items of yesteryears each weigh much higher than our normal utensils very surprising. Must visit for a qucik light different experience. Roads are large parking isn't a problem.

Just a small old house with antique items depicting how earlier generations lived and what they used. An old lady will be in to collect a moderate ticket price of 10 INR per person. If you have some time on hand, sneak this into your plan

(Translated by Google) Come here once to find out what life was like for people 100 years ago. You will forget the consonant. It makes the mind sad when it thinks that the shrine period has climbed everything mountain. Many thanks and compliments to the administrators who maintain this house. Good stopover in the afternoon when most of the temples are closed. It’s a 120 year old museum which showcases the olden living rooms, kitchen, kids room, courtyard, ladies make up room etc. entry fee is only rs 10. It is good to spend 15 mins in this 120 year old home.
