The museum is best place to the kids to know about our Indian Railways start from the scratch till date growth and it's development and commitment towards the service for the civilians. It was good self-explanatory pictorial representation and photos and replicas of coaches. It has refreshment area, neat and clean restrooms, play area for kids, train ride and good car and two wheeler parking. Entry fees for adults 50 & children's 25. Free entry for kids below 3 yrs. It was great experience. All Monday's are holiday.

Museum is good. Many old coaches and engines. Has a toy train ride too. Museum Ticket includes Toy Train Ride. Be careful while hoping on any stationary old engine or coaches Yellow flies are there. My 5yr old Son got bitten from this insect. Need more cleaning for coaches and engines. Over all good to see.

A must visit place in chennai especially for kids. Will easily take around 4 hours. Very informative, well maintained place. Has got a small canteen. Special mention on the management and all the staff for upkeep of the park. Hope the general public will appreciate and use the facility wisely. Happily will volunteer if there are any activities for kids like drawing competition, story telling etc.

A must visit weekend spot if you love trains and history. The entry fee is 50 rupees for adults - inclusive of a toy train ride, complimentary tea/snacks and entrance to all the exhibits. There are various art exhibits, minuscule train models, full fledged trains and a gallery with the history of Indian railways. Beautiful place. Worth visiting.

Very good and interesting place. Lots of locomotive units present in the site. We (including kids) enjoyed the museum. There was a toy train ride (included in the ticket price) which kids enjoyed a lot. Lots of play area. Cake/Tea was provided for all tickets in the canteen. Cold RO water available in the museum. Very clean toilet facilities. On the whole, a very good place to visit with family and kids.

Have been planning to visit this place for a pretty long time, after hearing a lot about it. Entrance fee for adults is 50 and for kids it is 25, entrance fee also includes 10 rupees worth refreshments at food court, which can be encashed for tea, samosa or tea cake. This place is a must for art enthusiasts surprisingly, as there are many sculptures on display, which are made from waste out of train manufacturing! For kids, there’s plenty to see, read and learn about trains, half a day can be spent here, if want to read the stuff mentioned there leisurely. Otherwise 1-2 hours is enough. Must not Miss - Entrance fee also includes mini train ride of 2 rounds inside, which will give a feel like journey inside a forest, as there are many trees inside and nice breeze flows around. There’s another place inside, wherein toy train demo is shown, which kids will love! ❤️ Only reason for four stars is restroom, which was not clean and there was no water coming in the tap, which is something management can address easily.

Wonderful place for children's. They can see various types of old trains. This place is hidden gem. The toy train ride is very nice. Entry ticket price is 40rs which includes train ride. Inside one small food court is available there we can buy snacks, cool drinks and water. This place small in size so you can cover total area within 2 or 3 hours.

An interesting place to visit with your family and friends especially kids. The key highlight is the old locomotives stationed there (not enough care or maintenance given to it). Very nice exhibits otherwise, there are two indoor museums which houses different exhibits along with a very nice walkthrough of Indian railway and ICF history. Kids will love the toy train ride( pls check schedule while entering) and the miniature train set inside the Indoor museum

The museum is a display of vintage engines and coaches showing the evolution of early railway history. The museum has indoor and outdoor display information in written form along with models. One can read and go through the evolution of railways from the indoor galleries and experience the charm of a joy ride in a mini narrow train.

This is a must visit if you’re visiting Chennai irrespective of your age. The property is next to the ICF(Integral Coach Factory) in New Avadi Road. It has ample space for parking your 2/4 wheelers. I was there today & witnessed could of school buses & couple of college buses as well. For kids, it was an excursion but for the college students, it was an industrial visit. They charge ₹50 for adults as an entry & ₹15 for kids (per person). For adults, you’re also entitled for a snack(Samosa) or drink(Tea/Coffee) which is prices at ₹10. They have massive halls which exhibits their products and the evolution of Indian railways. They also have a Park where kids can play. Water & Toilet facilities are also available. Do not miss taking the ride on a toy train which is fee of cost. It goes inside a small tunnel as well apart from taking you around the property which will last for 2-3 minutes. There is also a fully air conditioned movie theatre which shows the video(around 30 minutes) about various aspects of railways including the world’s longest & fastest trains. They also have a restaurant inside. I did not go there since this visit was a sudden one. You can spend a good 3-4 hours in this place at a nominal cost.

Very nice museum to watch. You may visit this place with your children and they will enjoy more. Parking available just outside the museum. Ticket charge is just 100 rupees and free for children. You may spend at least two hours there to watch it. There is a toy train. The ticket charge is included in the entry ticket. The service will be available every one hour. It is very fun to travel in that toy trainl If you like this review, please like and comment. Thank you.

Well maintained museum... Truly an informative and entertaining for both adults and kids... Parking area is spacious for both two and four wheelers. Ticket price for adults is 50rs. And kids above 3 years is 25rs. They'll give you a complimentary tea and biscuits per head for free in the food court. All we need to do is keep our tickets safely. There is a toy train available which is a true entertainer for kids. Slides and swings are well maintained inside the park. Students can gather more information about evolution of Indian railways. Pollution free area and to cover the entire museum it will not take more than 2hrs.

Highly recommended! The Chennai Rail Museum is a must-visit destination for all train enthusiasts and their families. The exhibits include vintage steam engines, locomotives, coaches, and other railway artifacts that provide a glimpse into the rich history of Indian Railways. The museum is generally well-maintained. The exhibits are well-labeled, and visitors can learn about the history of Indian Railways in a fun (and interactive way). The highlight of the museum is the ride on the toy train that takes visitors around the museum's premises, fun for kids and barring the small seats, a comfortable speed and ride for seniors too. (Do not expect to spend more than an hour there though)

People of all ages can visit this place. It's educational and kids can have a good time in the park . The highlight of this place is the train ride. Tickets for Adults costs Rupee 50 and for Children above the age of 1 and half costs Rupees 25. With this ticket is included The train ride and one Beverage for each Adult that is Free Tea and for kids Biscuits . This place has a museum of train models and trains parts and also photographs. There are some display of sculptures made by some renowned artist. Adults can have a relaxing time taking a walk or resting on the benches of the park. There are three parks for kids to play. The restrooms are neat and there is a small cafeteria for a quick snack. This place is closed on Mondays. Weekends are working and we have to pay entry fees for both kids and adults. They have recently added a train restaurant where you can dine inside a actual train. Definitely everyone will enjoy this place . This place is getting better.

ICF railway museum is a beautiful and a must visit place. The hotel and the outer factory area is an entertainment area. Inside the factory, the manufacturing of all the parts like engine, coaches, seats, were done with high precautions. The factory contains highly equipped machines also few are technology based. Educational Field trips to this place will provide lots of exposure. In each section the is explaining the routines clearly. Starting from manufacturing of different parts, different coaches, and different trains, assembling them and testing patterns were clearly explained to students.

Some of the Structures are unique and very attractive .. Some portion under renovation (April, 2019) .. For Halls, we need time to read the print outs .. The video show at 12:30 PM, (Rs 20 per head) = OK for the first 10 minutes - then, they show some comedy videos! = Toy Train Ride (free with entrance fee) is joyful! .. Model Train Hall is excellent for Still photos & videos = colourful & attractive! .. For Normal visit, keep at least 4 hours.

Spent 2 hours with my family at this lovely place. Liked it a lot. I hear its changed a lot over the last couple of years and got better. Yes, there is scope for improvement, and i am sure they are working on it. but they are on the right "track". Its not fully air-conditioned, so its best to visit this place during the cooler months. Ticket is priced at Rs.50, which includes tea and samosa - quite tasty. Top class AV room, well maintained outdoor area with lawn and park. Nice little toy train. And very very kind and courteous staff. The highlight for me though was the artworks and art installations by various artists. Some of them are mind blowing, fantastic initiative by the museum to give space and opportunities to artists.

Blissful experience. Must visit for kids, not only for fun but also for study purpose. Though an adult, I enjoyed the Toy train ride. Entry Fee as on July 2021 - Adult Fee is ₹50 - Children Fee is ₹20 - DSLR Camera Fee is ₹100 For that ₹50 token, we will get a tea or a samosa as complimentary. So, don't forget to ask about this. For kids, there are these slides, marry go round and swings. So, they will surely enjoy the whole Museum. Now, due to the pandemic effect, theatre hall is not open. So, that was dissapointing. Expected only 1 round of train ride, but unexpectedly got 2 rounds. I visited during the weekdays, so no crowd and had an enough space for parking my car. My personal opinion is there is no need of getting dslr. Because, there is no such scenic experince. But, found many statues out of scraps, which was really worth watching and taking photos in our own phone's camera.

Heaven for rail lovers. If you're in and around Chennai and have a decent taste for old locomotives and trains then please visit this museum. Beware of some weird looking bugs roaming around in the area though. The exhibits are really well maintained and you can roam around in most of the preserved trains and engines. Enjoyed the toy train ride a lot. Must visit in Chennai. It's easy to reach from Villivakkam station or by car from anywhere in Chennai.

Worth visit with Children! Very nice experience and relived childhood memories! Front building with 2 floors are mainly highlighting the history and achievements of ICF, Chennai. Another building is relatively smaller but have running train miniature model with history of Railways. For kids 3 playing areas are also available (pls refer pics) Outside in big open space have models of Rail engines from coal running models to electric models. The toy train ride was awesome (cost included in the ticket). Entry ticket is ₹50/- for adults and ₹25/- for kids. Outside main gate Museum has its own Cafeteria. (Tea is complimentary with the ticket) So overall u will enjoy half day with family in lush green full with Childhood memories.

Chennai rail museum is so wonderful. Here you can find a lot of information regarding railways. Amazing replicas of various Indian trains ranging from Vande Bharat express to bullet Train are all available here. There is also a litte museum shop from where you can purchase goods. The museum is well lit. The painting section is so mesmerizing. You will feel so good once you enter this section. There are so many eye-catching paintings. Outside there are real train engines are located. There is also a park located here where kids can play. There is also a small canteen where you can drink tea/coffee and eat snacks. A mini-train ride is also available here in which you can enjoy the whole outside park. If you are in Chennai make sure to visit this place.

It's a good place to visit. The entry fee is Rs.50 for adults and is worth the same - for the movie show, toy train ride as well as a ride throughout the place. The place follows all social distancing norms and has sanitizers at common places for perusal. There is also ample spaces to sit and relax and enjoy the model trains displayed. The art gallery and the models made out of scrap are so well preserved and displayed. The parking spaces are also wide and sufficient for both 2 and 4 wheelers. On the whole - it's a good timepass and one can spend a decent 3-4 hrs here...!

    (Translated by Google) Indian Railway's Rail Museum in Chennai is as spectacular as that of Chanakyapuri railway station in Delhi. To be fair, the Rail Museum in Chennai is better than the Delhi one. The exhibitions that are here are put up wonderfully as I have seen both the museums. Therefore, the difference between the two is clearly visible. Traveling on the small train here was also a fun experience. Whenever you come to visit Chennai, you must give half a day to see this railway museum, I find Marina Beach in Chennai and this museum is the best.

A wonderful place to take young kids and railway enthusiasts. With the natural scenic beauty preserved, it costs Rs. 50 for an adult entry ticket that is inclusive of a free toy train ride and Rs. 10 snack coupon in the canteen for which you can either buy samosa or tea for free. There are unimaginable art sculptures made from train spare parts and scraps located all around. There is a walk around picture gallery to the right of the entrance which is free and describes the history of locomotives, types of locomotives, engines, parts, seats and symbols of the Indian Railways. There are real boogies and engines located around that you can climb via a short stairs to get in and take a tour. There’s also small toy trains on a big track and small stations that give you the feeling of a real train ride. The Canteen serves Samosa, Rose milk, Badam milk, ice creams, coffee and tea. The art gallery just as you enter charges Rs. 20 but rest of the galleries are free of charge. There’s also a horse ride inside that charges Rs. 50. There’s an air conditioned restaurant located in a boogie with such a nice ambience. The restaurant timings are 12 PM to 3 PM and 7 PM to 10 PM.

Very good rail museum for knowledge of Indian railways, past and present. Well maintained children's play area. The maintenance of very old rail road engines is poor, as they are in a dilapidated condition. The authorities should take care in overhauling and painting the precious treasure. The curio shop is just a namesake only as items are not available, only some coffee mugs with the printing of rail related photos. Items like railway models, old items should be there for sale, as in the Mysore Railway Museum.

Food Court is operational for Quick Bite where as Train Restaurant is closed until Further Notice from CRM. Ticket cost inclusive of Toy Train ride which cannot be missed for all Visitors. This facilities we can't find in Delhi Rail Museum also. Toilet were clean maintained, Chilled Water Purifier is available. Miniature Train is not operational where we can understand how the train change the track for different routes. Some area where rainy water is not drain which causes health issues due to parasite and still some bogies has fly bites like Wasp. Museum Theatre is closed we expected some historical trailer of ICF and future will be broadcasted. We spend nearly 2-3 hours with home food for lunch. Main Entrances on Avadi Road is closed due to Hoarding Board repair work, please use alert Entrance which has park area facilities.

We've been visiting the ICF Guest house for over seven years on our trip to Tirupati but never visited the place due to paucity of time. This time however we made it a point to visit because we had a small member in family insisting that we visit the museum and the experience was just fabulous for both the children and the elderly. It's a must visit place depicting the transformation of the Indian railways over time. Will definitely visit again! Special mention to the staff who was very polite and courteous and explained everything in great detail.

Spacious and well laid out museum. Excellently maintained. Watch out for theatre at the left of entrance. Foodies can look out at right - A cafeteria at right and a restaurant (inside a train) behind that. Entrance fee entails you for free visit to theatre show, fun ride in toy rail, a tea or snacks at cafeteria etc. Kids in the range of 5 to 15 would love the place. A government run open space museum can not be better than this. Kudos to the management.

I was expecting too much but it's a small and well maintained place where you can learn about the history of Indian Railways. It wouldn't take more than an hour to visit. You are taken two rounds on the train which is really good. 50 rupees for adults and 15 rupees for kids. You are given 10 rupees off for food from your ticket. Overall it's a good place to relax for 2 hours.

It is a lovely experience to visit rail museum. The theatre inside it showcases a short film about rails. The vast area includes a toy train ride which the kid would love to go to. The play area has many iternaries like slide, see saw , swing and much more. Even adults would love to play in it.. The demo models of trains are all very lovely to look at.

I'd visited the museum a couple of years ago. It wasn't impressive at all. But now it's been renovated. It has so many attractions for children. I especially loved the art section. The train ride is for everyone. The big park allows children to play once they've visited the museum. With so many engines and so many things to do, it's a great place for families to visit.

The gallery demonstrates the glorious past of ICF during its initial years, when world renowned persons like The Queen of United Kingdom, Chinese Prime Minister, Soviet Union General, etc. have visited the industrial complex for its technological prowess at that time. It is a treat for history lovers. The gallery showcases even the visitor book pages with remarks signatures of famous personalities. I learnt through the visit that the unit was setup with the help of a Swiss manufacturer in 50s. It was great project at that time. Other attractions are the toy train that runs 2 rounds around the railway museum park. Apart from that various train coach models from the past era till the present day Kolkata metro coaches manufactured by ICF are at display. The most conspicuous displays are art installations made from waste parts from ICF designed by various artists. Its located all around the museum even on the exterior. This place needs a little bit facelift and maintenance. If maintained properly more crowd could be attracted and more revenue could be generated to make the museum self sufficient. Its a good place to spend few hours with kids during the weekend.

We can find numerous train models and a large photo gallery. The museum has been renovated in the year 2016. Only the gardens and other plants could be maintained better. I would recommend this place for old people and families, it also has a play area for the kids. Getting compliment snack and tea is remarkable!!

Very very attractive for the kids and adults. Can easily spend a half a day. They have two museums inside and n number of rail coaches and a kids train ride around the museum. The cost for 2 adults and two kids in INR 150 for Indians. The fare includes the entry fee, train ride and complimentary tea or coffee at the canteen. There are 3 kids open play park. Very spacious and good initiative for the kids and even elders to know about the history of our railways. But the timings are from 10m to 5pm only.

We will come to know about many unknown facts about railways and its development. Many nice creativities from employees of ICF from scrap was impressive. Small Toy train ride was memorable, that too at no extra cost. Needs more maintenance. Many good collections were getting rusted or faded without care.
