We got no plan visiting this temple. But to be true, this place is incredible. I loved it very much ❤ This temple is very old, Lord Shiva inside the temple is impressive. The sculptures around the temple are old designed and critical. The pond and lawn are another highlights of the temple. The Nandhi is separated and outside looks so cool 😎 CCTV fixed inside the temple, shops available nearby, parking for all sort of vehicles, construction going on for Western style restrooms. This temple is simple marvelous and historical.

It's the most beautiful temple I have seen in a long time. The outer carvings are bricks and mortar and are so beautiful that you want to embrace them. The temple looks so divine during dusk. It is a must visit. Have plenty of time at hand, there are beautiful carving at every turn. The main linga is a large size stunning piece.

The temple is made on a small area comparatively with other temples in Kanchipuram district. It has smaller niches with several deities. The details are very intricate. Must visit place to know more about temple architecture.

The Kailasanathar Temple is one of the prime attractions within the Land of Thousand Temples, Kanchipuram, located in the state of Tamil Nadu. It was built for God Shiva who is known as Kailasanathar in the temple, during the Pallava dynasty which ruled over this region. The temple, with its intricate designing was constructed with sandstone during the period of 680 AD to 705 AD, under the Pallava ruler Rajasimhar. Consisting of about 60 shrines, the temple attracts tourists from all over the country and also foreigner visitors in large numbers. The prime attraction of this temple is its innermost pathway which circles the idol of Kailasanathar, and signifies the entrance of a person and his exit from Paradise. With an amazingly serene environment, and an ancient Dravidan architectural style, this temple is one of the epitomes of divinity which has got to be visited at least once in your lifetime.

A must-visit in Kanchipuram. Be careful about the timings, though. We reached around 12 noon and could not have a darshan for some 10-15 minutes on account of some ritual. Temples here are closed from 12:30 to 4:00 pm so time your visit accordingly.

Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram It reflects a Dravidian architecture and was built about 700 CE by Narasimhavarman II with additions by Mahendravarman III. The temple has 58 small shrines built into the niches of the compound wall enclosing the main shrine. The shrine depicts the carvings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in many dance forms. Apart from the sub-shrines there are sanctum sanctorum (main shrine), mandapa (main hall), a high compound wall, and an entrance gate, the gopuram. The pillars of the mandapa have statues of lions standing on their hind legs as if trying to warn not to harm the temple. The main shrine (sanctum sanctorum) has 16 sided Shivalinga made in black granite. The inner and outer walls of the temple are carved with the images of numerous Gods and Goddesses.

I had the opportunity to visit this temple at kanchipuram. The place is serene and calm during evening hours, the temple is lit by magnificent lights that project its beauty to the core. The sculptures inscribed on the temple walls take one to a different era.

The Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram, also referred to as the Kailasanatha temple, is a Pallava-era historic Hindu temple in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. The outer walls of the temple's prakara (courtyard) is also surrounded by cells.

The place in itself is a get-away from your day to day lifestyle. There is something very calming and positive about the place. There is a park kind of setup, for families and friends to just enjoy the calmness that this place has to offer. It has been maintained really good. And is a must if you're bored with your daily life routine.

This is believed to be the oldest temple in Kanchipuram. Here also principal deity is Lord Shiva. The Shivalingam is around 10 feet. There hundreds of sculptures on the ceiling and on the wall and floor. Many of the stone work is defaced or corroded. This is under the care of ASI. Compared to other local temples this is smaller in size. But has excellent decorative stone work from mythology.

Kailasanatha Temple, Kanchipuram Known in the inscriptions as "Rajasimhesvaram", this temple was built by the Pallava king Narashimavarman alias Rajasimha(700-728 CE). The whole temple complex is built out of sandstone, but for the load-bearing course of adhisthana, Pattika, which is of granite. On plan, the temple consists of the garbhagriha, ardhamandapa, and a shrine built by Mahendravarman, all facing east. The sanctum has the Somaskanda panel in addition to the polished dhara linga which is a characteristic feature of all Pallava temples. The prakara wall has 58 small shrines attached to the inner surface of the wall. There is another series of seven small shrines attached to the outer surface ofthe prakara wall, one among them is dedicated to queen Rangapataka. In one of the mandapa pillar the Chalukya Vikramaditya had left his inscription referring to his capture of kanchipuram.

This structure has 58 small temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in various ways. These are nested on the inner face of the high compound wall of the perimeter path. Kailasanathar Temple is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city. The Pallava dynasty built the temple after establishing their kingdom as the capital city of Kanchipuram (also known as “Shiva Vishnu Kanchi” or “Kanchi”), which consider one of the seven holy cities of Hinduism. Emperor Narasimhavarman I later expanded the Pallava lands to the north, west and south of Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Kannada, expanding their capital city of Kanchipuram and building many magnificent temples. They were also known as Thiru Parameswara Vinnagaram, Vaikunta Perumal Temple and Kailasanathar Temple, AD. One of the two rare examples of temple architecture dates to 640-730. Kailasanatha Temple was built between the years 685-and 705 in Kanchi. Narasimhavarman II (Rajasinha), also known as Rajasinha Pallaveswaram, built the first architectural temple in South India. Mahendravarman III, his son, completed the front entrance and the dome (dome). Ancient temples in Mahabalipuram were made of wood or carved into stone faces in caves or rocks. Kanchipuram Kailasanathar Temple has become a model for similar temples in South India. The temple served as a haven for the kingdom’s rulers during the war. The kings built a secret tunnel as an escape route which is still visible today.
