Khanqah-e-Molla was ravaged by fire in 1480, and reconstructed by Sultan Hassan Shah in 1493. Fire of 2017 On 15 November 2017, a fire broke out in the shrine which damaged the spire of the building. Fire tenders were brought on the scene and they managed to arrest the spread of the fire which prevented any further damage to the building Restoration work was immediately startedband on 30 March 2018, a refurbished crown was successfully installed on the spire of the shrine.

A wonderful site to behold. This mosque is located in the old city Srinagar. The most fascinating fact about this place is the murals and paper mache art on the wall. The front Building is most prominently in green color with intricately carved wooden doors n windows and colorful paper mache. The front door is all adorned with chandeliers. It has a pavillon around it with a path where you can circumvent and have a nice view of mosque.

Khanqah Mosque of Shah Hamdan (built 1395, rebuilt 1732) The Khanqah mosque, known as the Shah Hamdan Masjid, sits on the right bank of the river Jhelum between the third and fourth bridges. It was built in 1395 by Shah Sikandar to commemorate the visit of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamdani, better known as Shah Hamdan. Fire claimed the mosque several times in the following centuries and the current structure, as seen today (except for the more recent cloisters), was sponsored by Abul Barkat Khan in 1732. It now stands 38 meters tall. The mosque is most notable for the beautiful and intricate wood carvings done by skilled Kashmiri wood carvers using time-honored techniques.

Alhamdulillah I was able to go there on Friday Jumu'ah in this Ramadan,The atmosphere of this mosque, and its royal pride and antiquity, amazed me a lot.We will never see such beautiful Mosque in our Kerala,Therefore, people going to Kashmir must visit this mosque... Khanqah -e-Moula

Khanqah Masjid also known as Shah Hamdan Mosque. Famous for its wooden architecture. The masjid has sperate space where females can also pray. The interior is full of marvelous carving and paper mache design. Colourfull paper mache designed walls, huge pillars, beautiful windows, hanging glass jars etc. Washroom: For ablution washrooms are there for both male and female. Just go your right side of the masjid while entering the main gate. Parking: You can park your vehicle outside if any space has been left by the street vendors.

In 1480 AD, the shrine was destroyed in a fire. The then ruler, Sultan Hassan Shah, expanded its premises and rebuilt it. In 1731 CE, the Khanqah was again destroyed by fire and then rebuilt by Abdul Barkat Khan.

I got yummy kashmiri tehri from gates of this masjid , we ate with locals and visited masjid , going there visiting inside takes you to back histories and beautiful stories .

Place of immense importance not only on religious lines but on historical aspects as well. The carving on the plinth stones of the structure speaks a lot of region’s culture and art

This was my first ever visit. To sum up the experience, it was an absolutely soul relaxing experience. The place has extremely calm and positive energy which drives you into tranquility. The architecture is mesmerizingly beautiful in and out. It is designed in such a way that you will need hours to check every layout.
