If you are going to Kashmir then Pahalgam is a must visit. Definitely try to spend 1 or 2 nights here. You will enjoy the beautiful Lidder river here. If you want to buy saffron then Pahalgam is the best place as the main production of saffron in Kashmir happens in Pahalgam. You can also enjoy rafting in the Lidder river. Besides, you can also go camping. The people here are very nice and helpful.

To be honest if it's better than Srinagar. Many places to see like Baisaran, Deno valley, Betaab & Aru valley, Mamaleshwar temple, Gauri Shankar temple, Chandanwaari. There's a small market also available for window shopping with couple of restaurants. You won't find it crowded like Srinagar.

Pahalgam has aru, betab & chandan valley, betab is best to visit due to its beauty, spend more time in betab valley as the Union cab driver will charge you, if you spend more than one hour in any valley, 3 hours for 3 valleys & you have to pay ₹400 extra if your time exceeds. The rates of union taxis are fixed here & you cannot bargain, the rates are dependent on the vehicle of your choice. You can see the rate card written on the board there.

A important tourist attraction place in Kashmir. 95 kms from Srinagar and you can do trekking to this place or take a pony. Please be beware of scams charging you high for pony. If you can trek you can take the usual way which will be 5Kms and also there is short cut which you can check with locals.
