It takes quiet to lot get genuine items in Srinagar. There are fakes, inferior and first copy products. This arts emporium offers an ideal solution, Starting from basic handmade keychains to pashmina shawls and maple wood furniture. Easy to access and very friendly and helpful staff. The area offers a great garden as well.

Kashmir Gov. Arts emporium is a good place for window shopping, however not for purchasing I brought 3 shawls and 15 g saffron from them. The staff was pushing me to buy the saffron for 320 per gram saffron and not the pricey one which was surprising . And won’t give bill for purchase either had very fishy experience shopping here.

Overall a beautiful historical structure with wonderful Kashmiri silk carpets, shawls, other metal and wood handicrafts. Staff was very helpful. I bought many wool Kashmiri embroidered shawls for gifts and they were beautiful and priced right. My only complain is that we were not given an official bill, as they said the Receipt book is not available, and even the credit card receipt was not provided. Instead, we were allowed to take a picture of the handwritten total on a used piece of paper. Spent thousands and came out with no receipt or bill.

No need to be worry about being cheated as it is managed by j&k government and not like other art gallery which claimed to be associated with state government they sell many items like shawls sweaters wooden items , paper matches , att and craft product you can buy orignal pashmina shawl from here it starts from β‚Ή 10700 on words but 100% orignal products with trust and you can also buy safron from here I buy it @192 per gram overall I feel very good to shop here they did not sell any kind of dryfruits and other spice here after lock down but nice place to explorer which no one cab driver and travel agent suggest you they took you @ factory for shaala @ Anantnag for saffron but dont fall in their trap be here you feel good to shop here.. dont plan on sunday as it de maine close on sunday and any other public holidays.

We were there for Shawl and stole, besides paper mache mementos. The place is open till 6 30 pm. There is a good collection of shawls, we did not look at pashmina stuff. You can look at decent options in 2.5-5.5k range. The paper mache mementos are very cost effective as compared to the shikara ride stuff which is thrusted upon by boat operators.

I did not like the variety they had for shawls. Moreover the price for same jewellery boxes was lower in the lal chowk branch. Being a government shop, they have their own limitations. Strange!

This place is past it's glory, now waiting to die. Untrained, indifferent staff, over priced low quality stuff. I suggest they rent this place to different Kashmir arts dealers, renovate it and see profits and sales rise. .

Polite and courteous staff. Products are displayed very well. Ample parking. Product quality, honestly looks great, pricing is above normal, presuming as it is government authorized it is genuine.

I have beautiful memories from childhood of this building and it's surrounding lush lawns. This used to be the residence of the British Resident during the time of Maharaja pre-1947. Hence the name of the road on which it's placed is Residency road. After the British left this was converted into Art and Handloom emporium by the government. There is a misconception that the place would be expensive but surprisingly I found that the rates were very competitive with the local market and in some cases cheaper also. For instance paper machie and walnut wood carving was a bit cheaper, plus they have a huge range and on top of it they give a 10% discount! The surrounding huge lawns are so beautiful by themselves with centuries old Chinar and Deodhar trees. During the flowering season they are full of colourful and fragrant flowers.

Enjoyed shopping here mainly because of the genuine products. Beautiful and calm location. Very good staff especially the manager Mr Baig. Recommend shopping here for Kashmiri products for the genuineness as it’s a Kashmir government showroom and to avoid the getting cheated in the shops outside.

Location is good but disinterested and even rude people. We asked to open 6 shawls to select 1. The lady kept grumbling that we made her open so many items
