It is a shiva temple known for its sculptures. Shiva is worshipped as Kailasanathar and his consort Parvathi as Sivakami Amman. Yali pillars are having spherical, rollable and captive ball inside their mouth. It is believed that flag post at this temple is brought from Kanyakumari Bhagavathi Amman temple. Boothathar made of wood located near to Amman Sannathi. It is given first respect during festivals. It is believed that it was originally in Chepparai Natarajar temple and brought here by flooded Tamiraparani river. The image of the Nataraja is always covered with Sandal paste and hence called Santhanasabapathy. Sage Uromasar floated several flowers in Tamiraparani River. One among those flowers reached this place. He then installed a Lingam here and offered prayer to get mukti. Offering prayer at this Shiva temple is equivalent to offering prayer to celestial body Shani(Saturn).

Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Sri Vaikuntam is the 6 temple of the Nava Kalagam chain. It is associated with the planet Saturn of the Horoscope. Its a big temple with few beautiful sculptures. Its very famous because Thirugana sambandar started to speak after visiting this temple. Kailasanathar is the Central Deity and Sivagami is the thayaar. Opens everyday 6.30am to 10.30am and 5pm to 8.30pm.

Though a very old temple the temple shrine is beautiful. The front entrance and side needs maintenance.

What to say? Siva temple is having the value which couldn't be explained. "Boologa kailash" Its also temple with Saneeswar . In Navakaylash its for Saneeswar. Building have beautiful architectural construction with brilliant ideas. Good place for meditation.
