My
dog
Nova
hurt
her
leg
back
in
Oct
2023
on
Thanksgiving
Day.
She
began
limping
immediately
after
a
run
in
the
field.
I
took
her
to
my
local
vet
in
Bowmanville.
He
tentatively
diagnosed
her
with
a
torn
CCL.
We
took
the
conservative
route
for
2
weeks.
I
was
3
months
pregnant
at
this
point.
When
this
route
did
not
work
my
vet
recommended
the
TPLO
surgery.
We
were
quoted
an
easy
$6k.
We
were
not
prepared
for
this
sudden
expense.
I
spent
about
a
week
or
two
contacting
various
vets
to
get
quotes.
My
vet
mentioned
he
had
a
friend
that
works
in
St.
Catharine's
that
does
this
type
of
surgery
and
the
costs
are
more
affordable.
I
did
some
research
on
the
vet
he
recommended.
I
did
not
want
to
leave
my
dog
in
pain
longer
than
necessary.
I
bit
the
bullet
and
called
Dog
and
Cat
clinic
of
Niagara.
It
was
the
best
choice
I
could
have
made.
I
spoke
with
a
receptionist
that
was
knowledgeable
and
kind.
She
spoke
highly
of
Dr.
Aziz
(the
vet
I
was
going
to
be
trusting
my
dog
with).
We
set
up
an
appointment
within
a
week
I
believe.
We
drove
the
2+
hrs
to
the
clinic
to
meet
with
Dr.
Aziz.
My
initial
impression
was
that
he
really
cared
about
my
dog.
Due
to
the
distance,
I
was
travelling,
we
ended
up
doing
the
deep
sedated
x-rays
the
same
day.
He
confirmed
the
news
that
she
had
torn
her
CCL.
He
outlined
costs
for
the
surgery
he
would
perform
on
Nova.
His
costs
were
exceptionally
reasonable
and
made
the
choice
all
the
easier
to
make.
I
won’t
mention
exact
costs
because
I
know
things
could
change
per
situation.
He
gave
us
at
least
2
examples
of
successful
TPLO
surgeries
he
had
done
in
the
last
6
months.
Giving
us
further
peace
of
mind.
2
weeks
later,
the
night
before
our
surgery,
I
got
a
call
from
Dr.
Aziz.
He
had
been
remeasuring
and
reviewing
Nova’s
file
for
the
surgery.
He
asked
my
permission
if
we
could
adjust
the
surgery
to
a
less
invasive
and
easier
recovery
surgery.
This
was
the
only
hiccup
in
the
whole
experience
that
threw
me
off.
I
don’t
like
last
minute
changes
or
decisions.
He
said
that
she
was
an
ideal
candidate
for
the
ex-cap
surgery.
I
had
trusted
his
judgement
up
to
this
point
and
decided
to
accept
his
last
minute
recommendation.
Not
only
was
the
surgery
easier
on
my
dog,
but
it
was
less
expensive
as
well.
The
day
of
the
surgery
came
around
and
things
went
as
smoothly
as
they
could.
I
called
while
she
was
on
the
table
like
an
overly
concerned
paw-rent.
The
reception
was
super
kind
and
understanding.
When
we
picked
up
Nova
we
were
given
lots
of
information
for
her
recovery.
Dr.
Aziz
made
sure
to
check
in
on
us
before
we
left
as
well.
The
first
night
was
rough
but
having
everything
thoroughly
explained
before
we
left
helped
us
through
the
first
night.
We
had
great
communication
over
the
2
weeks.
I
believe
we
even
received
a
call
from
Dr.
Aziz
checking
in
to
make
sure
Nova
was
doing
well.
We
returned
2
weeks
later
for
the
surgery.
Dr.
Aziz
was
at
a
conference
of
sorts
but
he
asked
for
video
update
and
said
his
fellow
veterinarian
was
able
to
recheck
her.
He
called
after
to
discuss
any
concerns
I
had.
At
some
point
in
the
recovery
my
dog
did
the
inevitable
and
licked
her
incision
open
somehow.
I
was
alarmed
and
worried.
However
after
a
phone
call
with
Dog
and
Cat
clinic
of
Niagara
I
had
another
dose
of
antibiotics
forwarded
to
my
local
vet
(again
we
live
2.5ish
hrs
from
the
clinic)
and
I
was
able
to
pick
them
up
with
in
a
day
or
two.
We
had
phone
calls,
emails
and
such
to
check
in
every
couple
weeks
or
less
to
assure
her
recovery
was
smooth.
Finally,
sometime
in
early
January
we
had
her
8
week
recheck.
Dr.
Aziz
was
kind
enough
to
come
in
on
his
day
off
to
do
the
recheck
himself.
I
have
felt
supported
and
cared
about
this
entire
experience.
There
has
been
no
point
in
which
I
was
left
confused
or
unsure.
The
level
of
attention
and
respect
and
education/knowledge
Dr.
Aziz
has,
is
superior
to
any
vet
I
have
worked
with.
If
you
are
even
remotely
considering
the
surgery
or
regular
care
for
your
pet
give
this
clinic
a
chance.
Love
Becca
and
Nova.
