I'm very familiar with the original Balsac's in the Distillery District and it was nice to see another shop in St. Catharines. Standard quality and selection, nice ambience, they also have the 2nd floor. Beats Starbucks any day, give it a try if you're in the neighborhood.

This is a cute little cafe right by Port Dalhousie . We had Coffee Canadien ,Carrot Cake and Butter Tart. The drink was made with care and tasted good Carrot Cake was soft and but the topping was too sweet seemed frozen food product. Butter Tart tasted fine. The ambience is great and it has upstairs patio and washroom . Thr girl who took our order was friendly. The also have a great collection of whole beans which they roast themselves . There is additional seating at the back and few chairs outside. The view is nothing special as it not facing East on Lock St but the adjacent st which has nothing .The ground level patio has pretty much no view at all. The stuff seems overpriced (for being frozen out of box) .The medium drunk alone costed little over $6 and dessert $5 (frozen) for the portion which made the total over $20 . They were also out of most of the baked goods (i guess the ones they bake themseleves) we wanted so we chose the ones left . Would like to try there coffee beans in future and probably grab a drink but not baked goods.

Staff is friendly. However, how is it okay to pay 6.95 for an iced drink and it's 3/4 full. Ive been here before and noticed they are filling the entire cup with ice so I asked for less ice and instead I'm given less drink. This is not worth 7.00!!! I guess I'll try the other local shop next time.

My unplanned morning ride here made my day. Definitely worth the visit. I am not a crazy coffee person, but I am sure it will be worth it for coffee fanatics!! Staff was super sweet as well.

It was clean and nicely done inside. Baristas were friendly. Seating outside and inside. It is not wheelchair accessible. (You have to walk up some steep stairs to get up to the seating area and washrooms)The coffee is good, they have dessert, I tried the carrot cake, you get a small piece for $4.70. Also it's not baked in store just the frozen boxed stuff. Overall experience was ok, no music playing inside for back ground noise we sat inside up stairs, it was echoing a bit. I think next time I'd like to sit outside on the upstairs patio instead weather permitting.

Our barista is very friendly and knowledgable about the drinks. Great tasting coffee and chai latte, nice vintage interior decor, clean washroom. Available free parking nearby. Overall, will definitely come back.

This is one of the best cafes in all of GTA. Not only do they have great coffee taste, but also the vintage decor adds a lot to the whole experience. The patio and balcony are extremely nice to sit at. I drove almost an hour to visit this branch.

It was good to find Balzac’s near the port. Unfortunately baked items were all out before 3.

Probably the best specialty coffee in Niagara region so far that I've tried... Cafe Nordique is going to be my drink always! Maple latte was also really good!

It's a cute cafe with a nice and simple drink menu with some desserts to pair. The hot chocolate made with Kawartha chocolate milk is delicious, as well as their brewed coffee.

Their egg nog is different from those I had in Vietnam. Hot chocolate yummy but the cafe latte was too light without the coffee taste

I went in yesterday for an Iced Lavender Latte made with Blume. Oh my.... It tasted as if I was drinking milk from the carton... only it was blue. No flavour, worst Latte I've ever had. After I had consumed the beverage I felt Ill. Their Ginger cookies are good but I've no interest in ordering anything other than coffee here... Ugh I still can't get the taste out of my mouth.

Great Cappuccino with oatmilk. Barista and cashier were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their coffees. Will come back!! 💕

Excellent atmosphere for a coffee shop. It's a little on the pricey side, but the quality is well worth it. I didn't see the password for the cafe's dedicated WiFi when I was there, but I'm guessing that it's not hard to get since I saw a few people working on their laptops. I plan to return. I think it's my favourite coffee shop in the Port Dalhousie area.

Beautiful location and incredibly kind staff. Located in quaint Port Dalhousie! Perfect place for an early morning latte before a walk on the beach.

Had coffee Saturday at 12.20pm. I am not sure what is going on, but the medium coffee was so watered down. It was like drinking mud water with sugar. Never going back.

A nice place and the service is very polite and helpful. I had a chai tea and it was delicious, it is Higgins & Burke tea so its awesome. The cafe is very small and has only a few small bistro-style tables but there is an upstairs and it has more seating. Overall it felt cold and stark and the space echoes pretty bad so you can hear anyone's conversation and they didn't have music playing upstairs.

Established coffee roaster and cafe that is nicely housed in Port Dalhousie in this location. Coffee, baked goods and coffee merch all available.

Had a great experience here a week ago. Studied in their upstairs area for a few hours with a hot apple cider. Great atmosphere and location!

There are so many tea varieties available and always different brews on tap. Upstairs is a very comfortable place to “work from home” lots of plugs and so many big old windows it’s very bright and spacious. Such a great conversion of an old house into something so modern and classy. The cookies are so fantastic you might wish you’d bought two ;) Staff is generally great and don’t seem overwhelmed despite the steady flow of traffic. Even if there’s a line up it moves quite quickly. Big plus.. The lids on the take out cups almost never leak. Kids love the steamed apple juice

Cosy atmosphere, clean facilities. A lot of great options for treats and drinks. My latte was very well made and paired nicely with their chocolate chip cookie. Seating areas were tidy! Love that it has two floors - plenty of seating! I can’t wait to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the patio and view! Thank you for a great experience!

I've been twice to Balzac's, once in summer and another in winter, but I don't think I'll revisit! We had seen the ice cream cones with coffee in some of the Google Maps photos (unsure about their exact name), and wanted to order those. So we described those, because we weren't sure what they're called, but then we were unpleasantly told that they aren't available anymore as if this is a fact that we should have known already!! So we just ordered coffee! Another time, the cashier/barista was super friendly with the folks ahead of us, but then was super grumpy with us probably because he misheard the order and had poured a few drops of coffee for that wrong order before we corrected him. It was actually the same person in both situations! So nope, never again! Advice: learn to be friendlier, please, especially if you're charging premium price for average coffee! And please do so while keeping in mind that there are several coffeeshops in your area that provide far better service and coffee.

Very friendly, neat environment. Stopped in for my first time and got their harvest spice and a bag of coffee beans. The coffee was delicious, can't wait to try the beans! :) will be returning to hang out in the cool atmosphere

We went there early morning and tbh I was really blown away by the ambiance. They have a very cozy setup and the historic building makes for a perfect cafe. Staffs were very friendly and welcoming. They have patios on the roof and side of the building makes for perfect place to sip coffee and relax. Btw coffee was great too.

Absolutely love Balzacs, and this location has to be one of my favourites!! The staff was incredibly nice when we entered, and they had great COVID protocols and signage. As always, their coffee is excellent (had the Atwood Blend for the first time!) And the upstairs patio was very pleasant, but the main patio was even better with their mural and garden.

When it's good, it's fantastic! Unfortunately there seems to be some inconsistencies across different baristas. Occasionally I end up with two inches of foam in a large latte, which ends up equating to the small size after the foam dissipates (see photo attached-- this was with me not even taking a sip of the drink). The flavor of the coffee and the chai tea latte also seems to change (watered down, strong, etc). I think it's worth checking out if your in the area, but all things considered, the prices should equate to more quality and consistency.

Great coffee at an unbeatable location. Weather sitting at the window bar, second floor salon or exterior patio, the Port Dalhousie Balzac's never disappoints when it comes to the experience of going for coffee. The welcoming and kind staff are always a welcome comfort on even the dreariest days. Their hand crafted beverages are a cut above and prepared with care and dedication to delivering a really great cup of coffee.

I nicknamed this place Harry’s. The staff is always great. Drinks are delish. I’ve had limited food there, but it’s always great. The space and setting are top notch. Love this spot. Visit Harry Balzacs next time you’re in the area.
