Mountain Locks Parks is hidden within a very developed area and provides a nice change in scenery. Parts of the old Welland Canal can be found here, which are somewhat well preserved. Unfortunately, many of trails are very overgrown and difficult to walk through. Maintenance on the park looks like it is overdue, and black flies are a real nuisance here as well.

Very pretty area. I like to take my puppy for walks here. Its beautiful on any season but in the fall when all the leaves are turning colour is probably my favorite. Not alot of foot traffic here so it stays relatively clean and free of debris

Welland Canals Advocates guided walk was enlightening. Details of historical points are easily overlooked without a guide. Very nice walk on variable texture pathways, including low lying watery grass. Some gentle rolling inclines, a bridge over rushing waters, lockmasters homes and historical plaques. Ticks are known to be present. Can you see the lock number inscribed on the wall? Check it out!

Bruce trail goes through mountain locks park and since it's a little known trail, it's beautiful and uncrowded

Beautiful green space with a historical backstory. Lots to see and look at, and Bruce trail adjacent. Only downside is the trails aren't always very well maintained and there is poison ivy around, so keep an eye out

Definitely off the beaten track. So great to see this piece of history. I hope that one day they give it a bit more love and put up some signage - until then just look up the website. 😀

No much area to explore. Just a place to have a cofee and talk with freinds or family. Dont expect more. I was really disappointed.

Beautiful! On one side of the locks you have a beginner hilly terain, and on the other, a flat walking path. Was a very nice, short walk. I would absolutely do it again.

A small park containing many historically significant ruins related to the operations of the 1st and 2nd Welland Canal. The stone ruins found here are perhaps the best intact of all the 2nd Welland Canal ruins that are still visible. However, the exposed remains of the 1st Welland Canal have more or less completely returned to the earth as they are made of wood. Sadly, the park is in a terrible state of upkeep. The stone ruins have been tagged with graffiti where accessible, the excessive brush and dead fall from the trees chokes out nearly all fresh growth and there is a terrible amount of garbage strewn about. Good place to go for a short walk if you're interested in the early history of the Welland Canal system but not exactly a place of great natural beauty. Much wasted potential.

Not just a lovely park in the city, but a part of Canada's National Heritage.

A fair amount of issues with the trail being unkept and fallen trees. The river stinks often. Lots of trash. Nothing better around in the area unfortunately.

A lovely walk. I wish there was more information about the old canal and the people who built it.

Great walk through the area, but first year whoever cuts the grass isn't doing the ditches. It has rained alot, but the sides of the ditches are needing a cut!

It was a beautiful day for a bike ride and we got silly from all the sunshine. I love this park as it is part of my favorite shortcut to Thorold.
