    Loved our optometrist when we went to FYI doctors. However, on our last appointment we were charged an outrageous price for our glasses. When I say outrageous - I mean NUTS outrageous. As if that wasn't bad enough the person selling them to us did a terrible job of fitting them. We went back a week later to get that fixed and her attitude was so dismissive and we came away with glasses that still did not fit well. Won't go back as we have found another optometrist who is as wonderful as our was but they don't try to gouge us when we get our glasses AND is super cheerful if you need to come back for any reason.

    Power Lv over 1000. Just a great staff and the eye doctor is 100%. The atmosphere while waiting is like your at a friends house. Thank you for the help, See you later. I suggest you visit if you ever have eye issues or just 4 a eye check up. You will be happy you did!

    Disgusted - I have what looks like a floater and flashing light in my right eye. Took the day off and called the Drs office at 830am to try and get in asap as Id read online that with these symptoms I should to go to the optometrist as it could be a detached retina. I was told that I would get a call back shortly, after it was discussed with the Dr- .5 hrs later I got a call back letting me know the Dr could see me Dec 4th as they aren't too concerned because I am already blind in that eye.(I was on speaker phone and my family heard every word) I told her I was concerned as I am legally blind not fully blind and I don't want to lose full sight and lose depth perception. She said not much she could do, Needless to say I called another Dr explained the situation and they were flabbergasted by these events and made room for me tomorrow. I've stuck by Dr.Marchand for many years but todays events ended it and I'll be contacting The College of Optometrists.

    I have been seeing Dr. Jason Marsh for most of my adult life. He is an outstanding optometrist backed by an incredible team. Anytime I have ever had concerns about my eyes and vision he has addressed those concerns, explaining what (if anything) has changed in my vision and has always been extremely generous with this time. The team supporting him is no different. Anytime I go in for an exam and there is new or changed tech involved in the process, they explain what the machine does, why they use it, and how it helps to ensure the best possible diagnosis. I can't possibly recommend the team at FYI St. Catharines enough. If you are in the Niagara region and need an optometrist or any kind of eye care, this is without question the place to be.

    Dr. L. Willms is genuinely caring. Knowledgeable and smart she freely shares her knowledge in a non condescending manner. Highly recommend. Thanks to Michelle for her patience in finding new frames.

    The best experience I have ever had! They explained everything in detail, helped me pick out my glasses, and were so accommodating and fast with the delivery of my glasses! Never going to a different place and no this is not a staged review, just a very happy customer!

    The manager at this location (Judy) called because I was in the clinic last year for my regular eye check-up. But it turned out that the appt was booked too early and my insurance coverage did not pay the expense. I was not very pleased to pay out of my pocket because I specifically asked to make sure that I was within two years since the last check-up appt. and they confirmed -yes. But when I paid my bills I was advised that my insurance was not going to cover the cost. I was disappointed but I had to paid it. Today, Judy the manager, finally got hold of me to let me know that they are reversing the cost that my insurance would have covered because it was their mistake. "Well it made my day" My husband and I have been going to FYI plus other friends that we referred to them because the service is good and the doctors are very knowledgeable and thorough. Great service for going above and beyond tracing clients to give my money back. Well done Judy. Thank you again. I have given them a not-so-good experience but she made it right. Sm

    Amazing, kind and friendly staff all around, the whole process was very smooth, organized and fast moving despite there being multiple patients, love their system! Dr. Melanie Chin did my exam, she was very thorough with explaining everything she was doing before doing so- A very knowledgeable and lovely doctor, any questions I asked she answered with great explanation and detail. Today was my first time being there and it definitely won’t be my last!

    I have been going to Dr.Marsh for several years now and couldn't be happier. He is very thorough and explains everything, never makes you feel rushed, and offers several opportunities to ask questions. His positive upbeat attitude makes the appointment a pleasure. The office staff is great too, always pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend them and have done so several times.

    $175 for an exam that I can get done anywhere else for $90! Price gouging their customers during a pandemic, they should be ashamed. Their products are also overpriced. I have been a customer for 5 years but will not be giving them anymore of my business. Shameful. My sister was told she would be charged $100 for a "covid fee" last year, she refused to pay it and now they lost her business as well.

    I have been going to the optometrists here for about 20 years (since my teens) and I have always had a great experience. The entire team is awesome and my kids now see the optometrists here. Again, just always an amazing experience.

    My entire family has been coming here for three decades. Service is unmatched anywhere. Eye exams don't hurt, so it's a win/win lol. Anatomical structure interests me, so any questions answered. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

    I was disapointed with the response that I received from Dr Burke after assessing that I did have partial retina detachment in one eye. I was informed that nothing could be done and no further assessment would be done by a Opthamologist. And that the vitreous may move to the bottom of my eye - or not. And told not to be concered as it is a factor of ageing. I did seek a 2nd opinion and paid for this myself from another Optometrist and would highly recommend their services. I was further told that there is a detachment starting in the other eye, and that there is epi-retinal membrane in one eye and this is now being monitored.

    Dr. Baerg is excellent, and I would rate her with 5 stars. She is conscientious and took the time to discuss and thoroughly explain my eye health to me. This 1 star rating is reflective of the poor customer service of the lady at the reception counter. I arrived 15 minutes early for my eye exam and waited at the counter behind one person ahead of me. When the receptionist finished with that person she went immediately to the phone, and stayed on it. I was never acknowledged (by anyone there). After 5 minutes of waiting standing up, I sat down, waiting for her to get off the phone so I could check in with my appointment. Other staffers walked by me waiting on people for glasses and after 20 minutes of waiting for the receptionist (with still no acknowledgement that I was there) I wandered back into the treatment area to ask someone to help me. Eventually someone checked me in, 20 minutes after I arrived. That person was the first time that my attendance in the office was acknowledged. After my appointment with Dr. Baerg, I was brought out to the front counter and the receptionist was on the phone (again). "She's just on the phone and will help you when she is finished" I was told. Nope. Promptly ignored again, until someone else came out from the treatment area and offered to help me. The lack of service from the front counter receptionist is very disappointing to have to deal with as a patient. I really did feel like I was just being ignored. The more concerning part is that I really don't think anyone there was that concerned about it, as it seemed to be normal. Dr. Baerg was excellent and I can't speak more highly of her service. However, I was very disappointed in the receptionist and the lack of customer service upon walking in a waiting for 20 minutes. It's the initial reception that leaves a lasting impression with any business. I sincerely hope they take some action to correct it.

    I went into the office because I accidentally sat on my glasses and broke the arm. They looked after me right away and were able to replace the frame under warranty. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Fast and friendly service and they were extremely helpful.

    This was my first time at an optometrist since I was a child, so I had no idea what to expect. I loved that I was able to book my appointment online and get in within a few days (there were next day appointments available, just none that worked with my schedule), and the staff was an absolute joy to spend time with and were happy to answer the many questions I had. If you value a personable, friendly experience, then I wholeheartedly recommend FYidoctors.

    I’ve always had a good experience at FYI Doctors! Their optometrists are kind and honest. And their staff is super helpful and friendly! I’m happy that they are my eyewear providers. Would recommend to anyone! :) and their new location is beautiful and spacious!

    Our family trusts FYIdoctors - Brantford with our vision care. My daughter who attends Brock University recently forgot her contacts lenses when she returned to school. FYI - St. Catharines treated her like a long time valued customer quickly providing her with some lenses. THANK YOU FYIdoc St C!! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

    Dr. Neufeld is great. I never wait long to see him, and never feel rushed if I have any questions. He orders my contacts for me right on his computer when I ask him at the end of my visit, it’s quick and painless. Staff is helpful and friendly.

    My husband and myself ordered our eye glasses for the first time at FYI. Diane helped us out. What a pleasure it was dealing with her. She helped us pick beautiful frames and I can't want to get the actual glasses. Excellent service!

    I tried a different glass place last year BUT had to come back because of the staff that are here! I am always blown away by ths fantastic service, kindness and attention to detail I experienced everytime I go to FYidoctors in St.Catharines Welland Ave. Sandra, Dianne and Michelle have always been so helpful and more importantly kind and sincere with the service they provide. The doctor I had the appointment with at FYi, Dr. Chin was absolutely incredible and extremely knowledgeable as well as provided so much valuable information on the health of my eyes.i highly recommended coming here if you want proper treatment for your eyes.

    Very bad quality glasses. The last three pairs were from here. The first pair were fine, even though I didn't take very good care of them. The second pair I was much more careful with, but despite this they got all scratched up, worse than the glasses I didn't care about. The third pair I got are the worst. Thinking my last pair was just bad luck, I paid extra to get anti-glare glasses. Huge mistake. They're impossible to clean and get streaks all over them, causing glares when though it's supposed to be anti-glare. My sister got her glasses somewhere else and they're perfectly fine, anti-glare and all, but the people I know who got them here have a lot of problems, especially considering it's just a pair of glasses. Also they're really bad at adjusting the glasses to fit people's faces. They'll put the glasses on your face and wait for you to do their job figuring out if they fit. How am I supposed to know if the glasses are properly adjusted to my head, exactly? All I know is if it hurts or if it's falling off. The only reason why I don't rate one star is because the actual doctors there are fine, so if you do go here just don't actually buy any of their glasses.

    Just met with Dr. Melanie Chin. I was extremely pleased with the whole experience. Dr. Chin was extremely attentive when listening to my problems and concerns, she explained what the results of each test were and what she was looking for. I did not feel rushed at all. I will be happy to return to her for my eye care in the future.

    Sold me a pair of glasses with no ar (anti-reflect) on the lens so i can see the reflection of both my eyes when i look through them. I cant use these glasses. I was not told about this when i was buying them. I just called them to complain and ask is it policy to not notify customers about this? to sell me glasses i cant use? They suggested I come back ( Pay for 2 taxies there and back About $40.) then they can add the anti-reflect for an additional $40+ tax or so i think she said. I asked if she could start notifying people about this before they buy the glasses, so other first time glasses buyers don't get bad quality glasses and half to waste time and money returning for a second, unnecessary visit. she assured me she mentioned it to staff.

    I have been a patient for almost 40 years. It is October 8th and I have an appointment scheduled for October 14. I received a phone call advising me if I wasn’t willing to pay $175.00 my appointment would be cancelled. I have had this appointment booked for months and due to Covid it’s been rescheduled numerous times. Apparently OCT scans and Opto Mapping are not options! Last time with FYI.

    Really?! Let's close at lunch hour when anyone with a job has time to come pick up their glasses.... Smdh I've been waiting here ten mins and watched 20 ppl try to get in and ALL leave pissed!!!! So glad this isn't my eye dr. But still a waste of my lunch to come take care of things for a family member who now has to continue to wait.

    Made an appointment months ago to make sure I could get in as soon as my benefits would allow. They accidentally book me on Family day. So I had to call them back to tell them this was a holiday. No problem, they push the appointment back a few days and told me it was for the same time slot. Well apparently it wasn't because I showed up what I thought was 15 minutes early only for them to tell me I was 15 minutes late. I know I would never had booked this time slot as it would never had given me enough time to get there from where I work. Instead of trying to fit me in anyway for a mistake they made, I don't even get an apology for wasting my time and tell me it will be a couple more weeks to get a new appointment for a time slot that I can make. I could get in 1 week sooner if I was willing to take time time off of work for the appointment. At first I decided to take the earlier appointment because I didn't want to wait longer for new glasses but decided against it and called them back to cancel and tell them I no longer wanted to be a customer. Most people care enough about actually wanting to keep customers but that apparently doesn't bother them as all I got was "OK". This could have been completely avoided had they sent a confirmation text or email like most places do these days. Even if the time was wrong I could have made an effort to get out of work early to try and make the appointment or at the very least reschedule without having to make the drive out for nothing. My previous experience with the optometrist was very positive, it's just too bad the business itself seems to care so little for the customer.

    Spectacular! I have never had such an experience when having my eyes examined. My wife and I had tandem appointments and she is equally enthused. Not only that but we were not subjected to eye drops which always left us unable to drive for an hour or more. Needless to say we are pleased and we will be glad to return.

    Dr. Art Marchand has beed my optometrist for over 25 years. I've tried to save 50$ going to Mason opticians last year and was totally screwed with a messed up fitting twisting my glasses... and Dr. Marchand's staff saved the frames and adjusted it perfectly to my face! Not to mention if I shop around for an awesome deal on designer frames I Always return to fyi! I love them!!

    The staff here is so helpful and accommodating! I have not had a bad experience at FYI doctors. They are quick to answer calls and questions and I have never had to wait long times when I go. I really appreciate the environment and everyone who works here to make going to the eye doctor a pleasant experience. My appointments with Dr. Willms are very informative and she really takes the time to explain your scans! Overall, I truly recommend going here for your optometric needs!!

    I do not recommend this place at all. Appointments are quick maybe 20 or 30 minutes. My family and I switched eye doctors and our old eye doctor at fyi didn’t catch my mom almost going blind.. they also accused me of lying when I said I needed reading glasses then years later he told me “oh yeah you do need reading glasses” then he just prescribed me glasses that magnify the letters but my new eye doctor told me that I need much more then that and a actual prescription. I don’t like to write bad reviews for places but this deserves one.

    I had an eye issue required help. From initial call Diane very helpful. Set me up with Dr. Judy Wicks. She is lovely & knowledgeable. Also Jennifer at front desk was very friendly & helpful.     Just had an emergency repair done to my primary pair of prescription glasses at FYIdoctors in St. Catharines. Both Jodi and Ainsley were terrific and they had the repair done in no time. They really saved the day! I have dealt with FYIdoctors for many years and have always enjoyed my experience with them. From the Doctors, to the front desk and technical staff, everyone there has been professional and courteous. I would highly recommend FYIdoctors in St. Catharines when you are searching for a trusted optical firm.

    Dear FYI Staff - Grantham Plaza - St. Catharines,ON I consistently receive great service from all the staff at FYI. More specifically Optical Associate Diane has gone above and beyond the call of duty to fit me into several specific sets of frames. Also Dr. Lisa Wilms is a friendly, competent Dr. who keeps my eye health and vision in check on an annual basis. Always there when I need them. I'm more than a satisfied client ..thank you all!     Well I looked around for another Optometrist as I can't get to my old one anymore. I booked here online filling in my OHIP health card number in the appropriate field. I got a followup voicemail. I was told there was a $175 fee. I immediately called them back to ask why I was going to be charged a $175 fee, and because of that, I would have to cancel and would find someone who took OHIP. The girl asked if I was diabetic, on OW, or ODSP. I said I was diabetic and had OHIP. She said then the eye exam was covered but since I was a first time patient and I was diabetic, the doctors required me to had retinal pictures done and that those were NOT covered by OHIP or ODSP and I would have to pay $70 to have those done. I reiterated that I can't afford that as I don't get money for that and that I guess I would have to go without new glasses. She said I should call around and find a doctor that doesn't require those pictures or does not have the ability to do retinal pictures. I understood this to be that since I couldn't afford the charge because of being on ODSP and that I'm diabetic, I would have to find a doctor that would be able to provide me with less than proper eye care. Shame on you FYI. I didnt choose to be disabled or to be diabetic. Thanks you for making me feel less than worthy of proper eyecare.
