Canal Lock 3

Historical landmark

😠 My dog Rashnu didn’t like the little ice creams and the boat gating, it’s to loud and the water upsets Rashnu. Rashnu gasped at how fast the water does the lifting and started to pull as a result of this, this shifted me into the ice cream shop which had the tiger striping ice creams, Rashnu won’t... My dog Rashnu didn’t like the little ice creams and the boat gating, it’s to loud and the water upsets Rashnu. Rashnu gasped at how fast the water does the lifting and started to pull as a result of this, this shifted me into the ice cream shop which had the tiger striping ice creams, Rashnu won’t let me walk him there any longer, boats are not the thing for the Rashnu and his daily stroll

There is a small museum on site, which is a good way to spend an hour or so. The day we went, it was cool and rainy, but we still enjoyed standing on the platform with our umbrellas, watching a freighter being raised to the next level. We recently returned on a nicer day and watched another ship pass through.

Been here before but today I watched a USA battleship passing through the canal. Very rare sight ☺️. One can see engineering at it's best. Lots to discover. Why watch on YouTube when you can see live. Had a picnic, there's plenty of tables outside.

I had a great time and the kids enjoyed it too. We were lucky to catch a coast guard vessel going through the locks. There is a nice model of a lock in the adjacent museum for St. Catherine's, but it is not a working model. Apparently they have a schedule for when boats are going through so it may be possible to time your visit appropriately.

Great afternoon outing. Interesting to watch the big ships come in and 12 minutes later are ready to go again. You are right up and close beside the ships. There is also a museum on the canal and for LaCrosse, a gift shop and entry is FREE. The are some beautiful trails to walk or bike on.

Had a great volunteer standing in the observation area who was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer of group's questions. Also, went into the museum areas which are incredibly well done. Loved our stop here.

Lock 3 is a very fascinating place to watch old world shipping technology raise ships up the Niagara Escarpment. The locks are located on the welland canal and we have been here several times when we have guests to show them the cool technology of shipping. - A Richard Trus review

Great place to meet a friend and enjoy the area. If the employee of Flagship Fries did not come smoke near park visitors. She's done it to us twice. It's illegal and she knows it

There's not a lot to do here. I guess it would be interesting if you've never seen the lift locks in action.

This is a very well kept place. The only thing I didn't like is the black fence, it's hard to see the ships coming down the canal.

Viewing platform to watch boats in the lock during the raising / lowering. Informative plaques located all around the grounds, a museum and a small park.

This is a nice canal lock. It’s large enough to fit a large cargo ship and it’s part of the Welland Canal, connecting Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. There’s a canal viewing area where you can see ships move through the canal, which is pretty nice.
