Reply to owners comments Jan 26/2020 6:10PM : You have quite mistaken us for someone else, as there was no yelling involved so I can only assume others had the same experience. I can appreciate you were busy but after trying to get your attention, your staff ignored us to serve other patrons who came in after we did. We have been members of several Niagara wineries for a long time and never experienced such service. Jan 26, 2020 3:00PM, Visited for the icewine discovery pass event. Waited over 10 minutes for service which never came. Tried to wave for service but the guy looked at me and just ignored me. Everyone seemed very disorganized, bumping into each other and knocking bottles over. Get your act together! Got fed up and left!

Came here for a summer wedding and the outdoor ceremony was so nicely done! They had lots of staff standing nearby, who were quick to notice when late guests like myself arrived and needed more chairs to be brought out. The ceremony could be seen from the road so not sure if everyone would enjoy that. The wedding pictures turned out gorgeous and there were lots of scenery options available. While the bridal party took their pictures, the guests were free to roam and there was also a mini wine tour, which I loved! That was a great touch and good way to pass the time. 1 star off because the reception room we were in was a little awkward and felt a tad crowded. There were some tables that were tucked away to the side or very far in the back.. so it didn't feel like all the tables flowed.

Last night TCG Niagara and the Kesh Group (local real estate brokerage and mortgage brokerage) hosted a meet & greet/ appreciation event at Hernder Estate Winery. Words cannot express how perfect the evening went. A huge thank you to Angel for everything that was done to make it perfect. The venue is beautiful, wine was excellent and service was incredible. The event had over 100 in attendance and feedback from all was extremely positive. Thank you again!

The grounds are awesome.. The staff that was there today were awesome. We had a beef slider with a light horse radish cream that was very good. We ended up buying 4 bottles here. We'll be back for sure...

Beautiful venue with beautiful views and fabulous staff with wonderful food. We attended a wedding at Hernder Estate Wines and from the tasting event during the organization phase to the final event it was a very pleasant experience. The owners and event coordination staff are extremely friendly. They offer a varied range of options regarding involvement of your event which is wonderful. The venue has two levels, both of which are beautiful but offering a different ambience and size. The views and areas around the venue offer some of the most beautiful photo opportunities for your event. There are vineyards, a pond, a beautiful bridge and the outside of the venue itself. The staff during the event are fabulous. The food is some of the best I have tasted in my 45 years alive. Truly worth every dollar. Overall an extremely easy and pleasing experience.

We always loved going to visit Hernder and had many great times there. So sad to hear of the devastating fire there this weekend. Our thoughts go out to the family, employees and everyone who loved going there too. A tremendous St Catharines landmark has been lost.

Usually after a devastating fire and loss some people would close up shop and accept the loss. NOT Hernders. The resiliency of the owners and staff continue to make one of Niagara's premier wineries just that, a veritable force to rise from the disaster and move forward. Events are being planned and held. Plans to rebuild in the works and new and better area to help the customers are to come. Way to go.

Scenic Hernder Estates offers lush greenery and vines for backdrop with the iconic covered bridge. The service is exemplary and the wine drinking with flat breads, on their patio was as perfect as the blue sky above on the day we went. It is always a peaceful, pleasant and enjoyable day at Hernder.

My favourite winery! Always coming back to this beautiful place! I just enjoy their wine, they have a variety of really great choices. My favourite is Deep Roots Cabernet Franc! The ambient is fantastic! Now you can relax indoor by the fireplace and you don't need to make reservation. The staff is fun, very knowledgable and entertaining! Even though yesterday was murky, cold day, their staff and wine put me in a good mood!

This is probably my favourite winery. Their wines are great and very well priced. The lounge and event rooms are beautiful, with exposed beams and fireplaces. The owner and staff are the friendliest around and are always very helpful and accommodating. If you're thinking of stopping somewhere to taste wines, stop here. If you're planning a wedding or event, consider this place!

Amazing estate. Our host's passion shone through during the tasting. Great wines at a surprisingly low price point.

Amazing property. The staff took the time to go over everything with us and you could tell she really loved her job! The wines were amazing, not to mention the bread dippers and hot sauce made on site!

Never got to far. The place is beautiful and might be worth it. But dealing with the person we dealt with we couldn't go with them

I did the 8 winery ice wine tour. And this one was my absolute favorite. I'm not an expert in ice wine. However I really enjoyed it. Had a taste of their carbinet savignon and I was impressed. Bought some Vino to take home. The vineyard is beautiful in January, must be immaculate in July.

The oldest winery in St. Catharines! Their lower prices wines are ok but their premium wines are fantastic!

Tasting room open and welcoming, like the staff. The wines luscious and beautiful, like the outdoor seating area. The attitude of the place hospitable, generous and down to earth, like the people and places you most enjoy. Bev served us complimentary samples with a down home twist and a twinkle of humour - then we enjoyed lunch brought from home with a bottle of their Reisling on their sun-splashed patio overlooking a covered bridge and vineyards as far as the eye can see. You can't get any better than that, period.

We were there for a wedding. The venue was clean and beautiful. The staff were very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing and they even accomodated allergies that they didn't know about in advance. I can't comment on their wine because I can't have alcohol, but the others at the table seemed to enjoy it. I would definitely recommend it as a special events venue!

  • 5/5 John L. 1 year ago on Google
Attended a reception event for about 65 people. The venue was large enough to accommodate more (not sure how may) but at this number the balanced space and intimacy well. Looks and feels like so much is still new and fresh and the service and attention were spectacular. Can't wait to see what they do in rebuilding more.

Very nice atmosphere! They sell a variety of grape products made by Hernder and other food products from the region in the shop. Those are great.

Love the people, love the vibe, was even given a free wine to sample and definitely bought a bottle after that, fruit wines are great but their other typical wines were lacking badly. Love the country, hometown feel.

They just started a Wednesday market with different vendors and food trucks along with live music. You can buy glasses of wine to enjoy the afternoon and night.

My mother and I came for a wine tasting, I have never been so disappointed in my life with a place. When we visited we chose our wines and then were told to sit in a room. There was not much info supplied about the wines, the descriptions were rather lack luster, saying dry or fruity not much to go off of. I selected, fizzy business, their pinot grigio, the riesling and the ice wine vidal. The fizzy business was okay and the ice wine was decent however the pinot was disgusting, I have never not been able to finish a glass of wine before but I could not get over the smell or the taste. I doubt this was a bad bottle because the riesling was equally as bad. The sad part is no one ever checked in and ask how the wine was, to be honest they weren't that busy. The costumer service was not the greatest and the wine was not drinkable. I would not recommend this winery to anyone. As a person that works in the Niagara tourism business I know how important customer service is. Following that, tourists and wine lovers love to be educated on the wine and the winery itself, not push away into a room alone. I felt that the staff was not passionate about their wine or their practice. This was supposed to be the last stop on our tasting trip but we could not end on this bad note or with the bad taste in our mouths. I highly recommend going to Alvento , it is just down the road and it was the best stop on our trip. The best wine I have had in ages! Support this smaller winery instead you can see their passion in winemaking and it reflects in their wine.

Angel and all her staff are wonderful. I got married there and I'd do it again. Maybe with someone different this time. Everyone loved the food and of course the wine. Thank you so much for a beautiful memory.

Great experience beautiful grounds you've got to try the 2012 Cab Franc reserve. If you leave the region without visiting this place you've truly missed out on something special.

My husband and I had our wedding here last 2 weeks ago and are incredibly happy with how everything turned out. From our first tour of the venue till we picked up our decor the day after the wedding Angel was nothing but amazing! She was incredibly professional and an insane help during the entire planning process. On the day of the wedding, Penny was just outstanding. She made sure everything went perfectly and was such an amazing support during the day and night. We received so many comments from family and friends about how beautiful the venue was and how incredible the food tasted - and we couldn't agree more with them! It was the most perfect day at the most perfect location with incredible staff! Also, our bartender Christian was simply the best! We would highly recommend Hernder to anyone looking for a perfect rustic wedding at a beautiful vineyard!

I have visited Hernder Estates several times and during our time of quarantine, have done both curb side pick up and drop off (because I couldn’t possibly live without their amazing wine). Everyone that works there is AMAZING, helpful and so kind. I’ve brought family members to tastings there and turned so many friends into their great wine. I can’t recommend them enough!

It is absolutely the top one on our list when we come to the region!! We look forward to our favorite, the new additions and all of the friendly faces that we have gotten to know over the years!! We are just waiting for the boarders to open for another visit!!

Hands down some of the best wine in the Niagara Region! The staff is always so friendly they make you feel like family. I live in PEI now and I am still ordering my wine from Hernder because nothing else compares.

My fav. I buy cases of Baco and Vidal regularly. Love the winery, love the people, and the winery itself is gorgeous. Try the Fizzy Buisness, it’s so fun.

Amazing staff, incredible events and wine. Decided to get married here and it was a perfect experience. Staff were organized, knowledgeable, flexible, and great to work with. Food was amazing and could not have had a better day. Getting to and from the venue is incredibly easy too. Lots of options for booking transport from local hotels.

Was at the winery today for the ice wine festival, place was not busy but was totally ignored. Very disorganized staff. Much better experience with other wineries. Customer service has to be priority. I have wine club membership at 2 other wineries and customer service is very professional.
