The bar tender was rude & bossy with me. - It's it just me or do some restaurant's act like they don't need the business? - We need to raise minimum wage so there's no excuses for this behavior. Everybody's allowed a bad day, I've had a few myself. It's not the next person's problem someone else was rude to you. Don't be like the person that got you in a bad mood!

Hadn't dined at Applebee's on 1st Street in Ankeny for a while, so we thought we'd check it out last Saturday. Got there about 1:00pm, so maybe we missed the noon rush but anyway, we were seated immediately and our waitress (Morgan) was with us within seconds. Both of us knew what we wanted, so we ordered right away. My wife got the Southwest Chicken Bowl, and I got the Tex-Mex Shrimp Bowl. It came with grilled chipotle lime shrimp on mixed greens and cilantro rice with house-made pico de gallo, black bean corn salsa and guacamole. Topped with chimichurri, tortilla strips and a fresh lime wedge. (Can ya tell I copied that from the website?) Anyway, we were both VERY pleased with the cleanliness of the place, with Morgan's attention to us, and the very fine meal. And yeah, the restroom was pretty tidy. A few paper towels dropped on the floor, but I'm not gonna knock 'em for it.

Solid choice for lunch or dinner. Blackened salmon was very good. This is not Louisiana blackened where its very spicy or sometimes salty depending on the hand preparing. I'd put this in "lightly blackened" category. Well prepared and paired very nicely with a side salad with balsamic

It wasn't busy inside at all but the customer service was horrible. First we walked in to 3 hostesses just talking and ignoring we walked in. So we just sat ourselves. Our waitress took about 5 minutes to acknowledge that we were there even though they all were standing by the bar. The garden salad was so small and pitiful. Then we had to go find our waitress to pay. Let me say this was not busy at all. Poor service. Won't be going back to Altoona Applebee's.

Great bartender friendly service quick with drink orders and food order had a server named Brooke? Seemed she had a problem with me even though i wasnt in her section just at the bar on scrolling through my phone 🤔 but everyone else there stopped and asked how everything was! Great service love this applebees!

This place is in serious need of a deep clean and an update. You could smell the dirty carpet.. the food was okay, I had the ribs, and you can tell they were microwaved. We had the combo starter, and everything was pretty good. My husband had chicken, and he really enjoyed it. Our server was great and very friendly. Great drink choices and good deals for happy hour.

Ate at the Ankeny Applebee's and the waiter we had was Myles and this guy was awesome in every aspect. He literally ran everywhere. Big smile on his face, Great attitude, Respectful and was very caring and genuine. I highly recommend this Applebee's and ask for Myles he's amazing!

We ate at the Ankeny Applebee’s on our way through town. We were seated quickly and our waitress, Emma, was outstanding. She went out of her way to make sure our dining experience with Applebee’s was a pleasant one. I had steak and it was cooked exactly as I requested.

GREAT PLACE TO EAT!!! FRIENDLY STAFF And Thank Them Also for Honoring Veterans Day with Free meals for Veterans. I had the Ol Fashioned Cheese burger and fries basket!!! And I Can tell you it was Excellent.

Ordered a Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The bite was unpleasant. The Chicken was very Chewy and rubbery. Will not order that again. The Management did make up the meal by replacing it with something different. The waitress did a very nice job.

My burbon street steak i ordered medium-rare came out as well done. Cook needs a thermometer Mushrooms and onions were also burnt. I only ate the potatoes. the waitress never asked me about my meal or why i didn't eat it. Was a bad experience, I hope they read this and make adjustments as I used to love this dish.

Stopped in tonight to grab a Togo order. Cheeseburger and fries plus sample platter. Pretty yummy tho it was mostly breading for the boneless wings. Excellent sweet honey BBQ sauce tho. Delicious fries.

We stopped by after church for lunch. I had a delicious Cheeseburger with french fries and my husband had riblets and fries. We couldn't leave without both having a serving of their Cinnabon's and frosting! Talk about a sugar high!!! Wow was that delicious!!!

Love doing my date night with my husband at this Applebee’s in Ankeny, IA. We go every Friday night and it is kind of like Cheers here. We talk to the other regulars, or whoever shows up at the bar. Bartender, Zoe, is great! Very friendly, and knows our order by heart! Very helpful. Brice is great on Saturday too if we hit it a second time in the week.

Good food for the pricing. Service was prompt and correct. Our waitress checked back with us a few different times as well during our meal

We had really awesome customer service and a great server. I went with my family on July 3rd shortly after 1PM at the Ankeny location. Our server was the only one there as a server and only one bartender. As they were short staffed. The restaurant was half full and really busy. She did a great job serving us and refilling our drinks and making suggestions for menu items and specials etc. She had a smile on her face face the whole time and very friendly.

Have family in Ankeny so we have eaten there many times! Have never been disappointed!!! We love it, grandkids love it!! I recommend them, give them a try!!!!

Good food, reasonable prices and friendly service. Applebee's have a great selection to choose from for both adults and kids alike. We dined here for my mother in law's birthday and there wasn't a hungry belly or unhappy diner amongst us. Would highly recommend their three cheese chicken penne, my partner swears by it

You know what you're getting when you go to Applebees...its reliably consistent. I'd like to see more salad options. Our server appeared confused as she tried to take our drink order twice...took a while to get those drinks. The meal came quickly and our server got better. I had the Whiskey bacon burger. It had good flavor and was a lot to eat. The "perfect Margherita " was just so so, it still tasted a lot like Margherita mix.

Food was decent as always. Not best in the world by any means, but far better than other options in town. Service is almost always top notch in this location! The after 9 crowd though can be a tad annoying.. had a table next to us with about 20 kids and no adults.. I would recommend putting parties like that in another section. Wings looked a little burnt and smaller than normal, but tasted really good! Other than that.. definitely recommend and will return!
