Poor service, poor cleaning, poor maintenance... The only good thing is the fact that they are near the airport. If your looking for more prepare yourself for disappointment. The curtain rail fall of and we waited forever to get it fixed and not to mention there was no hot water around 8 o'clock.

Waited 3 hours for food and the menu doesnโ€™t have much. The suite doesnโ€™t even have bottled water. Bad service, place needs better management. The curtains are very filthy.

The experience was terrible. I was there with friends from Friday to Sunday. The was no fridges in 2 rooms, no irons, the water was luke warm, the sheets/duvets & towels were not changed, the sliding doors are locked & when we ask for the keys we were told they misplaced them, the rooms were not being mopped until we requested at the reception, worst the lady came with a 5L bucket filled with 1L water to mop 3 rooms, yes 3 rooms!!!! TV had 3 channels showing & it was not clear. It was really shocking. The waiting period at the restaurant was also a disaster.... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Worse place ever. I saw 5 stars outside. I'm still shocked how they acquired those stars cause wow their rooms inside are bad. The bedding is worse, smelly and not done well. My partner and I couldn't take a bath in the morning because no water came out of the taps. Fridge has no water to drink. It does look beautiful outside. Their yards are well taken care of but we don't live in yard. Perhaps that's where they got their stars. Doors are lose and door frames are rusty. I am really disappointed.

Stay at your own peril! Your money is better spent elsewhere. There are so many shortcomings and small issues that come together and make it impossible to recommend this place. A few things stood out. Firstly, the generally poor state of everything. Don't be fooled by the photos, they were not taken recently. I guess a lack of revenue resulted in less maintenence and this has spiralled. I had cracks in my bathtub and mold on the ceiling. Secondly, food portions are tiny compared to the prices being charged. Lastly, the towels in my room were so old they have started to frey at the edges with some even having holes in them. This establishment is operating on borrowed time. I should have read the Google reviews, that was my mistake. If you read this, you don't have any excuse if you choose to stay here. You have been warned.

Visit years ago, and it was great, but management really needs to make some changes urgently. Definitely not what they advertise. Sorry for this review, but not what what I expected.

We have spent a week at Shumba. The staff were great and very accommodating. Our room was cleaned every morning (thank you). The garden's are lovely. We hardly even new there was load shedding. Generators must have been used to keep the power on. At least we could keep the TV and air conditioner going while we were in the room. Shumba is well placed to expore the area. The meals we did eat were good. Thank you for a wonderful week

Stayed at the suite, room 160. The facilities are very poor and not well maintained. There was no water supply upon arrival, had to call for assistance, the shower and basin drainage system was not working. The bathroom was not clean, after taking a shower the bathroom was flooded with water all the way to the bedroom, the toilet was not flushing properly. Outside patio was not cleaned, had to call in for house keeping to assist, patio furniture and cushions very old and were dirty. Sliding door curtain rails were falling off everytime we had to open the sliding door, curtains inside the room also old and not clean, the TV doesn't show clear pictures.

My room was OK but the shower booth needs thorough cleaning, the TV Set was not ok only 2channels were playing even though I have raised the matter it was never attended to For Breakfast as for me it was a no no cos there's no variety but 1thing I can suggest the place but for accommodation only not meals. Location was good for me due to be surrounded with trees.

I had a lovely experience, but the food tasted as though the chef was angry. The staff seemed to be exhausted. I didn't get the welcome drinks as advertised... The visit was otherwise fine.

Shumba was horrible with the staff being rude to the last one, especially the receptionist who wears the black and white blazer literally laughed at our questions! Furthermore it was breakfast time and I was horrified by the omelette ๐Ÿ’ƒthen the not fresh fruit salad or what they called freshly baked muffins what was supposed to be a celebratory getaway turned out to be one of my worst experience ๐Ÿคž Shumba is no longer what it used to be because it wasn't my first time there but I am very certain it was my last!!!!!

Horrible experience. Their breakfast which we paid for was just a fruit salad and muesli. Their buffet is really not a buffet cause you can't serve yourself and they limit you (that was also paid for by the way). The blankets in the rooms had a horrible smell, I had to ask for them to be washed before I could sleep in it. Extremely disappointed in everything, it's definitely not what it looks like on pictures, I personally would not recommend it to anyone

Ay the room ๐Ÿ‘Ž the swimming pool was dirty even after requesting for it to be clean so we can use it the next day we really wanted to swim. But the following day the water was still milky. We couldn't swim till we left. I was not happy at all...

Very run-down, maintenence is not kept up spend a week there with students, some students had to move rooms 3 times! WIFI NOT WORKING, TV NOT WORKING, DOOR CARD SYSYTEM NOT WORKING. There is never water when you want so shower toilets doesn't flush properly. They have parties or functions randomly on week nights and don't give a darn about other guests. Service is so bad that I phone reception 34 times one night and nobody picked up, oh ja and the phones in the room doesn't work either. They don't deserve any stars. Ridiculous Place. Would not recommend it to my worst enemy!!!!!!!

The location is great BUT the place is so run down, it was so sad to see what used to be an AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL property looking the way it did. The private pools in the suites were so dirty and neglected, the couches and curtains looked like they were washed centuries ago. The staff members are so demotivated and tired looking, I feel so sorry for them, it takes a great leader to inspire their staff. The owner/s need to do something ASAP otherwise this place will shut down. I cancelled my booking after viewing this place.

It's a beautiful get away from the city to just unwind and relax. The rooms are lovely and cozy if it's just you and your hubby or wife. The breakfast isn't so great if you are expecting a buffet. The stuff are really friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay. They just need to improve on their breakfast buffet.

I had a romantic getaway with my husband at Shumba Valley. We enjoyed the facilities and the food at the restaurant. Great hospitality and warm atmosphere. Our special thanks to Masingita Nkuna, a waitress at Shumba Valley Lodge for being so attentive at all our meals and helping to arrange a warm cosy fire for dinner time.

We booked this place for an overnight, as we had a flight at Lanseria Airport the next day. I would give this place a better rating, but there was no hot water, and there were no towels in the room. There was no phone inside to call the front office. The place is nice and all. They can do better. For an overnight stay, we will recommend the place. Food at the restaurant is great.

Not very impressed at all. Rooms are in desperate need of repair. Our bath had a huge crack and the mirror had a crack right through it. Our friends room entire shower door was broken so water went all over the place. Linen was at least clean. So much potential but lacking proper management.

Be careful of this place. I booked accommodation for a business trip. Unfortunately I had to cancel. I advised them in good time and was entitled to a 50% refund. Four months later after countless emails I am still awaiting my refund โ˜น๏ธ

Day one so far with the hope that it will get better. Reception staff are friendly, however what they have to work with works against them. TV not working, phone not working, overall room maintenance ZERO, restaurant service slow and unatentative, food dry, no HOT water. Let's see what tomorrow holds

We were here for a party with very slow bar staff Our room has no hot water, flush doesn't work, the TV channels are not clear, air conditioning is not working, and the ceiling fan is setup the wrong way around so the air is blowing to the roof. Such a pity this place brought back memories

Very friendly staff, thumbs up for Gerry the manager. He was hands on . I would recommend this place, but I'm taking away 2 stars for cleanliness, it's not on point , beds were freshly made each day though , the bathtub cleaned as well, but the floors were dusty and air-conditioning was weak and we came on a very cold nite . What lacks overall was made up for by the staff and food was good

the chalets are very close to each other, lunch and breakfast was great the staff was excellent, but visitors should be given the strict instructions about the do's and don'ts

Apparently there is a tavern nearby, which plays loud music through the night,if you are looking for peace and tranquility this is not the place๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

It's really not a bad place to visit few small items they can upgrade, like they breakfast, air-conditioning and beverage prices but other wise we had a great weekend. The stuff was very friendly and helpful in whatever we needed

  • 1/5 pt k. 1 year ago on Google
I called made bookings and they said they do accommodate kids only to find out they don't and am with my son they already. Then that weekend their pipes decided to blast etc then they was no water in our room ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ™„ we had to go and bath in other people's rooms when they are out for breakfast!!! It's a No no

It was a beautiful experience. The reception staff gave us a warm welcome. The catering staff catered well for my dietry needs. Food was delicious. The people there, are just awesome. But the rooms need a upgrade... Pillows and mattress. Uncomfortable. Shower heads and flow of water need to improve. Fumigation must be considered... TV.. Had no signal... If these few things can be improved. Attract more people.. Can then be considered a 5 star... The environment is breath taking.... For a conference, family break away... I will suggest it any time. Thank you

The place was a great disappointment, the linen and towels looked so dull and old. And there's no microwave in the rooms, each time you need to heat up food you must go to the main reception. Overall I wouldn't recommend the place , there's just so many wrongs about Shumba VALLEY Lodge....

  • 1/5 Nobantu N. 2 years ago on Google
My overall experience of the place wasn't great and under its current management I wouldn't recommend it. The place has great potential but it is not well maintained and cleaned. The buffet isn't really a buffet. The suite we booked was not clean, bedding is old and towels smelt musty.

  • 1/5 Monique De B. 2 years ago on Google
Shumba Valley Lodge 0* rating for sure. Will never go back there. No water and when there is the pressure is almost non-existent. Unimaginive menu and they don't have half the items on there in stock, rooms are dated and bedding doesn't fit the beds, it's too small and made up incorrectly, the towels are old and falling apart and stained. Housekeeping staff only come around at 15:00 or later in the afternoon. Furniture is very dated and the upkeep is terrible, mold in the bathroom on the ceiling. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

  • 1/5 Franco P. 2 years ago on Google
Rooms needs to be upgraded, the power and water is off for about 5 hours each day. Computer at reception is broken so they can't issue access cards for the room, you have to go to reception every time and ask them to come open the room. Roof was leaking on bed. ceiling in bathroom is moldy. Wi-Fi not working Go elsewhere!

  • 5/5 Peter S. 2 years ago on Google
I was a late arrival and the staff waited for me, and on me, by providing dinner ( a T-Bone nogal). The decent-sized villa had its own private pool and everything you could wish for. The conference venue and package was a treat, although the aircons could have been more efficient.

  • 2/5 GORDON K. 2 years ago on Google
Rooms very well used, price not too bad but I think they can do better. I am sorry to say not 4 star as advertised

  • 4/5 salamina k. 2 years ago on Google
I am happy with Shumba valley lodge. The rooms outside needs renovation but inside the rooms are very clean and are serviced daily. The staff is very friendly. I enjoyed the food especially breakfast. The aircon was working throughout my stay. I booked for the accommodation with private pool and the pool was clean. For the price I paid I'm satisfied.

  • 3/5 Valencia L. 1 year ago on Google
Overall the rooms are clean and spacious, the food was terrible however and took a very long time to arrive. Staff is friendly and patient. Stayed for two days the pools and fire places everywhere were good value for money in terms of scenery but they can improve
