Of all the Italian restaurants we have been to, this was without a doubt the best. The owner was happy to see us even though we had not made a booking. He was active serving and supporting the young staff. All the young staff were very motivated and gave marvellous service. The food was hot, plentiful and delicious. I would recommend this Italian restaurant to anyone. Definitely 5 🌟

Excellent family atmosphere. Went with the family for my daughter in law birthday. Very good food and good value for money. The staff were lovely, welcoming and great service. Thank you will definitely be back.

Brilliant place, we turned up without a booking and they bent over backwards to cater for us. We had travelled for 2 1/2 hours for our holiday and just wanted some food. Great meals all round great atmosphere and very organised restaurant. We will be back

We had a family meal on Saturday gone it was really good, waitresses were spot on with help on any question that we asked even when I asked for a doggy bag as I couldn't eat it all at the restaurant. Very good family location for meals

Fist time visiting and will definitely be back. Food and service was excellent. Eleven of us booked in to celebrate a birthday, staff were very helpful and and brought the cake out at the end of the meal. Would definitely recommend.

Oh my goodness! 5 stars does not seem enough. Not been here for a while, but had a family night out here tonight, 10 of us, all had different meals and not one of us was disappointed. For me personally I had surf and turf, truly amazing, the nicest most well cooked bit of steak I have had in many years, so tender it would have cut with a spoon, juicy prawns and tasty mussels, pure heaven. Service was fast, food was hot and fresh and the staff amazingly friendly and helpful, prices not at all bad either,. MUST go again soon.

Fantastic restaurant, with great food at very good prices. I could not believe the cost when I was handed the bill. It was the cheapest meal out we have had since I can remember. And we didn’t skimp on food either. 3 starters, 3 mains, 1 side and 2 alcoholic drinks for £50. The food was served hot and the portions were plentiful and all with great friendly organised service. If you are looking for a nice Italian meal out, then I can highly recommend this great restaurant.

Accidentally booked table for 9 instead of 10, was no problem to staff to accommodate us by moving tables around. Following that the service was fantastic, staff so attentive, professional and definitely on the ball, food absolutely amazing and all meals arrived at the same time which was unusual for a table of ten, whole experience was second to none, thank you so much! Food is always amazing for the price. Service is also very welcoming and the atmosphere is fantastic. We've been now 4 times over the past few years, everytime we are near Durham. Great local Italian eatery, not the most authentic but very wholesome.

Very nice restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. We had a party of eight with kids and were looked after very well. We ordered from the specials menu and it was delicious. Great local restaurant doing the right things well. Not from the area but would certainly go back and enjoy another meal.

Lovely Italian restaurant which isn't overpriced like so many other establishments. We both ended up having spicy king prawn linguini for our mains and it was amazing, so tasty. Staff always attentive and polite. Give it a go if you haven't experienced it.

Thank you very much for a lovely lunch and afternoon for Eric’s 70th. Your staff worked really hard and the food was great. A little bit slow with coffees but we were a big party (49) on a busy afternoon. Really want to give 4.5 stars but can’t. Will be back!

First time trying La Spada, The food was lovely... the home made apple pie was the best iv ever had. I'd come back again for sure and order the pie again 100% then the price for having so much, definitely worth the money. Friendly staff, and genuinely felt like a nice place to be. Highly recommended.

Lovely food and great service. Son's birthday celebration, even got a candle in a piece of cake! The food was amazing and the girls who served us were friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be returning again.

First attempt for calzone was unbaked and row inside. Second was alright. Next day we tried pasta on happy hour. On the leaflet £4.50, on the menu £5.45! Staff very young, dressed in nice uniform, but needs to teach politeness, like not pour the serviettes to the table from the side dish plate, put the tablespoon onto the bare table or serving dessert without serviettes.

What a lovely place, went for a birthday lunch for my Mum. Unasked they put a candle on her cheesecake and sang Happy Birthday to her. Lovely people, great food and atmosphere. A must eat place.

Went to La Spada on Mon eve the waitresses were first class very attentive but not overly. The food was excellent could not fault anything and very competitively priced. Will definitely be back next time we are down Durham way

Absolutely brilliant time. Staff bent over backwards to accommodate us, food was excellent and the cost genuinely surprised us! Food for 6, two kids, with drinks and three Irish coffees after came in a smile under £100! Chicken Kiev was really nice, pizzas were spot on, carbonara pasta was demolished by the littlest and the fish cakes (originally a stater, but offered as a main) didn't last long at all. Highly recommend visiting and we will be back. Thank you very much!

Visited here as part of a large group one evening for a friends catch up meal. Some of the group had dined here before and spoke highly of this place. On arrival we were taken to our table and our drinks order was taken. The service was the most efficient I've experienced. We only waited minutes for our drinks before having our food order taken. We all had starters and mains. The food came out fairly quick and wow I wasn't disappointed one bit. I opted for the garlic bread with cheese with the main following shortly after which consisted of the 'Marinara' Pizza. This was divine! Other dishes of what I seen looked amazing too. A huge credit to the staff who looked after us all very well. They were friendly and super efficient. Will highly recommend this place and cant wait to return.

Dined as part of a large table. Speed of food was good but the service was not great. The staff had poor knowledge of the menu and didnt recognise the food they were serving which led to a few of the group being served and starting to eat the wrong meals. I was then handed food that someone else had already started to eat, because the server who came out was shouting the wrong type of steak. First and last visit.

Have been to this restaurant a few times and it never fails to serve beautiful food in generous portion sizes. The only thing it lacks is the Italian ambiance, its bright lights and blingy wall paper are nice (if you like that sort of thing) but for me spoil the atmosphere, it produces authentic Italian food in a very unauthentic environment. Wouldnt stop me going back though.

Me and my family have been here lots, absolutely love the place, proper Italian food and all the staff are very attentive and they are so flexible with food options like they made my mam something that wasn't on the menu so good at catering for people's preferences. Food is amazing, so is the staff and management.
