Met 3 members of staff and they were all very friendly and professional. Pub was very busy but we managed to find a table and had the most amazing meal. Best lamb dish I've eaten in years, can't recommend highly enough 10 out of 10 all round

I've been visiting the Hole in t'wall for years, maybe 7/8 at least! It's ab absolute gem of a pub right in the heart of Bowness, two minute walk from the mere, the hills, the shops and the main Street of the town It's a very historic building dating back to 1612!! With loads of original features too, I've not met anyone who doesn't like the building and the decor inside, Charles Dickens was a visitor too and if he liked it then you know you're into something good! The staff are genuine and naturally friendly with advise on the ales, food and offers they have on. They have a nice menu with the classics and some special offers, vegan options too which is great, great prices and portions too! Nice stocked bar with everything you could need with local beer, cider and spirits, I think what's nice with this pub is it's locals aswell and tourists visiting. It's also got a lovely little outside patio area which is a bit of a suntrap if the weather's good! My favourite pub them ways, no competition!

Lovely pub, the staff were so lovely and accomodating. The food portions were generous and tasted great. The pub itself is well preserved and clean. We were a really big group and the food came out so quickly. Everyone had a great time

Great very cute old pub. Lovely selection of beers. Live band when we went and lots of space for seating. There is an outside area with picnic benches and it is dog friendly. They also do food, we only had the scampi but it was delicious pub food. A must-visit if you're in the area!

First time visitor dropping by for some liquid refreshment after a walk in the rain. Slightly hidden away off the main road but worth seeking out. Wasn't sure what to expect from the outside, but was greeted by a nice warm fire upon entry and a good array of drinks. Cute and idellic, there's certainly sense of history about the place and thoughts of all the stories those walls would have from hundreds of years. I mean, if Charles Dickens stopped off here, it's good enough for me πŸ˜€

Absolutely loved going to this hole in the wall, for an authentic old world charm. The pub’s interiors tell the story and the originality of the food makes the experience a memorable one.

Lovely old world pub, quite small in the main bar, but it makes for a cosy, relaxing environment. Very friendly, helpful team. Something for everyone on the menu & a great selection of wines, spirits & beers. I recommend the robinsons dark to any Guinness drinkers that visit. We had the chicken curry which left us very full for a very reasonable price, definitely going again.

Lovely welcoming pub. Very traditional and decor is brilliant. 6 of us visited for lunch and the food was excellent. Portions were huge and really tasty with a good choice on the menu. Would definitely recommend if visiting the area.

We just love it her. It's warm and cosy with a great atmosphere. The staff are attentive and very helpful. We haven't eaten here yet, but looking at what a man was eating yesterday it will be on our place to eat list on our next visit.

A trip to Bowness would not be complete without a visit to this pub - great character and delicious food. Generous portions especially the steak pieces in the Steak and Ale pie. Pub had indoor and outdoor seating and can get full quickly.

I love proper old style pubs. This place is fabulous. Visited a couple of times. Very helpful friendly staff. Robinsons beers are not my favourite, but they are well kept. We didn't eat on our visits.

Great, quirky little pub. A proper boozer with ample indoor and outdoor seating. We didn’t have anything to eat but the portions looked massive and food looked nice. Dogs not allowed inside, only outside.

What a great place with real history. From 1600's people have been partaking of drink in this premises and by the full crowd and roaring fire when we were there, it will carry on for a good few years more. Well worth a visit...

Great lunch and beer. Fish finger butty/ side of chips was a good size. Soup and sandwich was also very nice. All for Β£20. What’s not to like! Good service and friendly banter too. Good selection of ale and the sun continued to shine as we sat out. Very enjoyable

This place is a fantastically quirky experience in the heart of Windemere. We stopped by for a quick drink before hopping on a boat across the lake. It was BUSY. I have no tips in this regard, but more as a caution for those that might find it overwhelming. We loved it. The atmosphere was lively but cosy. The decor is wild and greatly appreciated by all that frequent the pub. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Have very fond memories of this pub. . First visited in October 1974 and had my first pint(s) of Hartleys'. (Then played football.) Pure Amber nectar. The Ulverston brewery was long ago bought out and closed by Robinsons of Stockport. This pub serves great food as well. About Β£12 - 13 for a main. Lovely fire. Great atmosphere. Beer patio to front. Often packed. Choice of two Robbie's beers. Unicorn and Dizzy Blond. Lovely oint of Unicorn enjoyed by Paulicarus.

Our Friday night haunt. Great atmosphere, really nice pub-food, Friday nights BSE live music (Blood Shot Eyes) - three excellent local musicians playing a great mix of folk and well loved pop. Engaging and entertaining. Very highly recommended. A lovely feel of belonging is what stands out.
