The food was never anything special but I came back because it is close to the house and I wanted some fries. The cashier's laugh in my face when I was not willing to pay 8+ dollars for a large fry and a cup of cheese was enough to ensure I never come back. Owner may want to look into new help and adjusting the ridiculous price.

PEOPLE LISTEN UP!!! The food is HORRIFIC!! Just like their customer service!!! Nasty attitude!!! I asked to speak to the management, hoping to get a listening ear, BUT all I got was a more INTENSIFIED nasty person!!! Order was TOTALLY wrong! Didn't want money back! Just to inform them how wrong my order was on ALL accounts!!! I got yelled at like I'm the one who cooked the SLOP!!. DO NOT WASTE OR SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THESE PEOPLE IN THEIR NASTY HORRIFIC PLACE!!!

I got the window special 2 hot dogs and fries, I also went ahead and ordered a soda. Food was fine, hot dogs were rather small but quality was decent. Half way into filling my cup of soda... I noticed. There was mold in the drip tray, which leads me to believe there's most likely mold coming from the soda spouts.. I've worked in food service 6+ yrs... it doesn't take more than 5mins to clean a soda machine. This should be fixed..you'll make someone really sick.

Spending money while I'm out in Monee! Price: A bit higher in price since everything is a single dish & not a combo. Philly Steak was $10 while a large chili cheese fries is around $11. 3/5 Customer Service: Right on time with no issues. 5/5 Pizza Puff: Appearance - Nice golden brown. Perfectly fried. Can't get much better. 4/5 Taste - Your standard Pizza Puff. Has good chunks of sausage and the cheese was perfectly melted 4/5. Chili Cheese fries: Appearance - Again the fries are perfectly golden brown. Whoever is working the fryer definitely knows how to use it. Standard nacho cheese paired with an above average chili. Definitely not hot dog chili as it has plenty of beans & meat. A sprinkle of onions & herbs would make it look above average. 3/5 Taste - I can't lie these are the best chili cheese fries I've had in a while. Everything is fresh & meshes well from the nacho cheese to the chili. The addition of the beans is just great as it leaves nothing to be desired. Not to mention the proportion is huge. Definitely meant to be shared with others, but will leave you craving more. 4/5 Philly Cheese Steak: Appearance - Oh boy that is a hearty sandwich if I've ever seen one. The mushrooms, onions, peppers & mountain of meat...I love it all. They put their heart & soul into this one which means I'm gonna enjoy it. A bit on the moist end as the bread is soaked as if they poured beef juice on it & greasy as well. 4/5 Taste - This... is good. It literally falls apart in your mouth & excites your taste buds. There's a ton of ingredients so expect a lot to fall out as you grab it. Everything is cooked perfectly. You get hints of mayo in almost every bite & the meat is seasoned to perfection. 5/5 Overall Athen's Gyros has a lot going for it. It's rare to find a place that actually knows how to fry things. They seem to pride themselves on their giant proportions & that is evident in what they serve. Even the pizza puff seemed larger than average. A few small adjustments could send them over the top, but I definitely look forward to actually trying their gyros. 4 out of 5 stars

Junior gyro. Very skimpy, very poor tasting. Unlike any other gyro I've ever had before. 10.00 for just the sandwich. Will never go back.

I decided to try the turkey burger because the sign said "homemade turkey burger". This thing was a dried up pre-made patty. Very disappointing.

Ok so I just paid $11 for a gyro cheeseburger not tripping on the price but I have like 5 slices of gyro meat and the burger was still pink smh I didn’t know going to a fast food restaurant I have to tell them I want my burger done, if I didn’t have to go to work I would take it back just wasted my money and lost my appetite thanks very much

A gyros original should have sauce on it that's a part of what makes it good. Like 1 tablespoon of sauce if that they are big time cutting back. Don't know how I'm going to choke the rest down. Not worth the money. Won't go there again.

It's $18 for a Philly cheese steak and fry. I went to Perros which tastes just as good and got that and a drink for $12

I went in to make and order I wanted to add extra sauce to my Gyro and the lady told me to hurry up and make up my mind or get out . She was yelling at me like I was a kid I'm 60 years old. I had always enjoyed going there but she to talk to me like I was less than a dog. She wore braces at the time Mexican lady she had never talk to me like that before. She was really angry. I've never been back. I guess age part owner and feel she can treat blacks any way she feel because there no black working there maybe one , I operate a business and I treat all my customer's the same with respect.

It's a cool greasy spoon carry-out spot. The food was tasty. A bit pricey. For a Gyro platter and Cheeseburger meal, it was a whopping $33 for meals, including a tip. The burger and fries were ok. However, I prefer fries without the coating on them, because I like them cooked hard. The Gyro platter looked and tasted pretty good. No complaints about the services. It was served quickly, and everything was satisfying.

I just had the worse experience with Athens. It’s so sad that customer service is such poor quality in the evening towards the community. I ordered and waited over a hour for my food to be delivered to the wrong address. God bless that receiver who got my order. Now I have a child hungry and then need to wait for days to be reimbursed. I’m so tired of being treated any type of way be owners who really DO NOT care about the customer. More signs of our cold world and lack of care. Disappointed in you Athens so disappointed. But you don’t care as long people continue patronizing you. Smh

We ordered through DoorDash and everything was made correctly and on time for pick up. The cashier was friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in. The inside of the restaurant is really small so it gets crowded fast. The food was hot, tasty, and a good price.

This place has existed for at least 30 years, used to have some of the best gyros I’d ever had. Went there recently and ordered a gyro jr., it was 13.99 and it is now one of the worst, most skimpiest gyros I’ve ever had. The sauce was horrible it looked curdled and was very watery. Let me get this right, you give a massive increase in price and then give deflated quality in food? I’m not sure if prices for gyro ingredients have increase but if it were me and it would literally kill the quality I’m used to serving, I would have to list this menu item as temporarily unavailable. Why risk losing customers?! Just don’t get it. Please Do better restaurant owners.

Fire Food would have been better for my son and I if we didn't have to pay for the other people we we're with ...like I have no issue with paying for yall but don't put me on the spot when the boy and I are ordering then tell your daughter to order without asking me first then not even say thank you....that's crazy on dad's part and ya rude daughter if u know better be better

Athens has Very Fresh Salads 🥗. I always enjoy the Greek Salad with grilled chicken. 😋 I've noticed prices are creeping up and parking is a challenge at Peak times but it's a Neighborhood Staple and I'll continue to support them when I need a quick bite.

The food was great! They forgot my fries that I ordered to go with my polish/gyro, but the food was great.

From out of town… and I’ve had 100 times better. I order 1/2 lb of meat.. they sliced it off the rack and didn’t cook it or nothing just gave it to me. It was cold and weird.

Owner (I'm assuming) was rude as hell and food was decent. She was yelling at her employee as we walked in and gave us attitude as we ordered and even while we grabbed our food. She needs a reality check. Probably losing customers based on her treatment to customers because I aint ever going again. Also got upcharged, meal went from $8 to $19. They're probably baffled why they're not making much profits, idiots. Fix your attitude and don't put your employees at risk of being jobless because of YOUR attitude woman

Every time I visit the Chicago land area, this is one of my first stops!!! This place has some of the most amazing food I have ever had!!! I always get the Italian Beef from them because it is an amazing value and flavor. Their hot dog special has been a favorite of mine as well, since childhood. It was really sad when they had to close because someone crashed into their restaurant. However, since the reopening they have been just as great!

Are used to love this place but twice this week I have ate it and both times the chicken strips were old and overcooked and so we’re the fries no need to call And complain because the kids that work there won’t answer the phone

That was good! I had the classic Gyros sandwich with tzatziki sauce, tomatoes,and onions. The meat was cut fresh and not overcooked. The restaurant was a bit of a whole in the wall on the inside, but the service and friendliness was outstanding! There used to be an Athens Gyros in the former Lincoln Mall. Not sure if this one is related, but the Gyros’s at least which was their specialty are practically the same.

It was my first time going here and I must say it was delicious! I got a steak sandwich which was fresh with lots of veggies. My family stated the homemade soup was delicious. And the other items were good as well! Will be going back!
