Found this cafe via Google Maps after taking dog for a walk at Heartwood Forest. What a lovely place! Feels spacious yet welcoming. Decaf coffee was one of the best I have had in a long time and the cherry danish was very tasty. My dog was welcomed and even given some treats! Served by a lovely lady who also chatted to me and the dog while it wasn't busy. I will definitely visit next time I'm in the area and may even try some of the menu next time 😊

For me, this is what a local coffee shop should be. Amazing coffee in a pleasantly decorated interior. Turns into a bar at night but only been there for the coffee. Update. Ordered a croissant a few days ago ands was very stale.

Popped in to try the coffee and it tasted great, friendly staff and the sweet food in the counter looked great too but didn't buy any. Really nice atmosphere in the place, music wasn't too loud so you can actually have a convo! Looks great and will return

What a lovely spot. Refreshingly simple and fun. Like that the bar area isn't too high! Only food was sharing platters of meats n cheese / cheese or cake. Thursday Eve event and space reserved and ample for party of 16!. Aug23. Still good.

In my opinion the best place for a coffee in St Albans

Love coming here, really good coffee. A few more freshly baked buns/cakes wouldn’t go a miss though.

Super gorgeous and loved the choices available. I chose carrot juice but they didn’t have enough which was kinda sad (had carrot juice often as a child so was really hoping). They were super kind though and quick

So great to have a funky cafe in walking distance. Does what it says on the tin. The only disappointment is other Google reviews showing delicious food and cocktails that they don't do anymore. Went in the evening and staff did manage to rustle up some espresso martinis which were very nice 👍 The meat and cheese platters also very good. One if the few places you can still get an almond croissant 🙏

Such a lovely little place! Warm welcome, lovely toasties and a licence too so a little tipple if you fancy. Had a little Birthday lunch today for 4 and a bottle of Prosecco! Perfect

Came last week for a latte late morning and this week for a few pints in the evening. Didn't try any savoury foods but the cakes were yummy. The draft ale (level head) is great. Fab vibe and super friendly staff. Would definitely go back.

A gem. Lovely staff . 5 stars. Superb coffee. Proper teas and selections. A great hub for meetings and catching up. Very decent wine and drinks menu too. Open to 10.30pm towards end of week. Fab for cakes and snacks and simple breakfasts. (see menu, not a greasy spoon joint) This place is going from strength to strength and an asset to the area and community. Commended and Recommended.

This is a lovely small coffee house serving a collection of drinks, snacks and cakes. It has a variety of seats; sofas, window stools, large dinning area etc. Industrial styling and art gallery (you can purchase) hangings. A glass of wine is also available for those who wish to sip and think. It's set in the local area of marshalswick and has that community vibe feel about it. This is part of a "small is beautiful" cluster of traders and services. There is a small outdoor area to enjoy and a community garden opposite to enjoy those occasional sunny summer days.

Fade to Black coffee shop in the Quadrant, Marshalswick is a fantastic place to relax and chill while you sample some of the best coffee, sandwiches and pastries. The ambiance of this shop is relaxing, and the staff are highly capable. You could not ask for more because everything you need is provided. Also if you feel like an alcoholic drink on a Thursday through to Saturday evening then you’ll not be disappointed. They have a fine selection of wines and bottled beers as well as 2 draught pumps dispensing a premium larger and an IPA. Well done, guys! Keep making great coffee and pouring those drinks, I’ll certainly be frequenting Fade to Black many times in 2023.

Nice little café. Perfect to drop in to have a hot drink. Coffee had always tasted nice here. There is also always a tasty looking selection of sweet treats, like cakes, flapjacks etc on offer.

Great feeling, good buzz, coffee was very good as were cinnamon scones. We will defo be back

Great coffee, but could do a lot better with food options. Really frustrating when they run out of simple ingredients such as smoked salmon. Could easily be fixed.

Visited on the off chance as was looking for a decent coffee shop. Ordered a cappuccino which was nice. They also had a decent range of pastries (I didn't try one). Friendly service as well, clearly a favourite with locals.
