Don’t understand the negative reviews. We went here monthly but since the new management, food was delicious and even the house wine was nice. We had three separate waiters, all of which were super helpful, very nice, attentive and didn’t feel rushed. Would happily go again. There’s mention of outdated restaurant? I’ve not been somewhere with beautiful hand painted art on the wall…..

The worst curry I’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, it’s like stepping back in time. And not in the good way. We waited more than an hour for our food. And I wish we hadn’t bothered. Bright red sauce surrounds chewy chunks of chicken and paneer (or was it tofu?!). When we complained, they said it was because it was busy (it has half empty). No apology or money off the bill. There are far better places just doors away.

Amazing meal. Randomly decided to walk in after seeing the £12.95 banquet night on Wednesday. The food and service was spectacular! Very understanding and not judgemental at all :) the food was at such a high quality. I would definitely recommend, it's become our new go to now for sure! It was nice to see it busy as well

After seeing that it was under new management, my husband and I decided to order and see if the food had improved. We were extremely disappointed, the food was bland (literally tasted like nothing) and it probably was the worst Indian takeaway we have ever eaten.

Great food, great customer service. Staff always friendly. Delivery is always on time & food still hot. Restaurant service is excellent.

We came here early Sunday evening and had a great time. My parents live in Cambridge but only go out for an Indian meal at The Lancer in Baldock, nowhere else will do! The food is excellent, very very tasty, good portions. The service is exceptional and very friendly which makes a big difference to us and, as we don’t go out for meals that often in this financial crisis, it’s very welcome I WOULD recommend The Lancer always.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants we have been in over the last few years. The food was very good and tasty and able to taste the different spices lovely. Service was second to none very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble. We liked it so much we went back for another meal just 2 days after as this was our last night in the area. We will certainly call in again if we are staying near in the future. Would highly recommend very good value.

Terrible service, bad food, outdated restaurant. We ordered 5 separate dishes and all of them were bad with generic horrible sauces. When we told them, they offered no apology and generally disinterested. Avoid this place and spend your money elsewhere.

We visited as a party of 4 for the first time in ages, and found it under new management. The staff were excellent, friendly service and attentive, the food was excellent. Have no reservations in whole heartily recommending the Lancer....

This is with out a doubt one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food is always fresh and hot. A great menu choice the staff are always friendly and helpful nothing is to much trouble for them.ive also had takeaways from them .every thing I order is always in the bag nothing missing always hot and always a reasonable waiting time. I recently went there for my birthday and was presented with a free round of drinks . Martin.

I went on a quiet night in fact I was the only person there after a table of 6 left. The food was piping hot (not in a spicy way) and tasty. Worth looking out for when they have a deal on as it was quite expensive for a small town with at least 5 other competitors. Tbh, I prefer the atmosphere in the other restaurants but that is MY opinion.

Warm and welcoming. The chutneys were amazing. Large portions of curry and rice. Everything fresh, hot and beautifully presented. So glad we went and we will definitely go back soon.

Seven of us came here for the first time last Sunday, and we were warmly welcomed an shown to a table and quickly brought drinks. We had poppadoms and generous trays of dips which included lime pickle, a favourite of mine. The mains soon arrived and everyone was really pleased with their choice, my son who isn't a fan of Indian food absolutely loved his chicken balti and has now been converted. I thoroughly recommend The Lancer and will definitely be visiting again

Shocking service went there after a recommendation after an hour we had 4 drinks & 4 poppadoms......no sign of any one asking to take our order when we left their excuse was its a Saturday night we're busy, not acceptable I'm afraid. Although the just eat take away service was a lot better than the restaurant maybe that's more important now!!!!

We went to The Lancer tonight and was delighted with the food and service. There were six of us, two vegans, and they looked after us superbly. Each of us were catered for and looked after. The food was amazing and matched the service. Will definitely go again. Thank you to all at The Lancer.

Been a while since we ate here. Now under new management, we have recently visited twice and on both occasions the meals were great. New dishes that we have not seen before were very good and different. Good variety in taste between the dishes (not always the case). The lamb in the meat dishes was so tender.

Had a takeaway from here this evening and it was lovely. Really friendly staff and the food was amazing. Will be definitely be back, thank you. Gemma

First time using this place and will be the last. The currys were very bland and the rice was so soft it was like eating mush. Really disappointed after reading the reviews. Compared to others around this has to be the worse.

The customer service is on point the food is fantastic, the new management are definitely carrying on the legacy well here. Definitely will recommend to others.. the onion bahji's are some of the best I've had in a long while

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. Great flavours and the only place I have found who offer paneer as a choice for all dishes, truly a vegetarian heaven.

My favourite in Baldock for a curry. Definitely the tastiest. Yum yum! Was there Saturday night. Even offered a complimentary baileys or brandy etc at the end of the meal. Lovely.
