Great location, train station next door, delicious English breakfast. Comfortable beds and good shower. The employees are all attentive and kind. Super safe for someone traveling alone like me, so I approve and recommend it.

After visiting this place previously I was disappointed with changes. Now simple things like kitchen towels and sponge for cleaning dishes were not provided. As well usual breakfast with various cornflakes and full English breakfast replaced with bon and sausages for take away. No sauce no salad leave. Very difficult to eat. I wonder how is family with kids at older people managing then they found out about the changes for breakfast. We needed to go to the town to the shop for food as this food not sustainable for kids 5 years old. And old people would have problems with digesting it. No hot drink. They offer fruit, juice and snack bar although. But I prefer basic (serial, milk, tea and toast with jam) rather than a dry bon. Room was clean. Shower had no any shelf. just a box-room so you could keep your shower staff on the floorπŸ™„. The hook for the towel broken.. Hot water supply not consistent (boiler not working properly). So shower hot and cold, hot and cold.... Very unpleasant to take a shower. All little details making not great impression. Owners need to look after business better than this. And COVID it's not an issue - breakfast could be organized in a better way.

This is reasonably priced, warm, friendly and has great coffee. The hostel cafe is frequented by walkers locally, boaters and people just wandering by. They also have people who hire out rooms for meetings, groups and conferences which seems to be thriving. It has laundry facilities and a Manager who is very much a people person which really makes a difference. She genuinely seems to be interested in people . I would highly recommend.

Took over 3 lodges for 47 children. Excellent in every way . Staff superb, friendly, helpful, everything spot on. Breakfast was brilliant. Lodges clean and comfortable. Nice quiet location.

A smart modern youth hostel which offers great value for money and an excellent location, peaceful near the river and yet a couple of minutes walk from the station, from which train+tube to London is less than half an hour (also trains to Cambridge and, with one change, to Stansted Airport). Just hope nobody is misled by Google's weird description that it is a 4 star hotel!

Perfect for us! Rooms were basic but comfortable enough. Staff was superb and location was great! Decent restaurants within walking distance, and a train stop right around the corner. Definitely will be back.

Great hostel by the beautiful River Lee. The bedrooms are spread out into 7 or 8 lodges, which are reminiscient of fun-filled school and summer residentials. Everything was very clean and peacefully quiet. Only downside was the closure of the self-catering kitchens due to Covid and the rather mediocre breakfast that was served by the hostel as an alternative.

We slept extremely well in our private double bunk room, even though there were lots of kids staying upstairs. The room was fine (wonky toilet seat and a bit of hair on the floor) at Β£70. The kitchen facilities were fine and the walks nearby exceptional.

Stayed for a night, right next to a train station but unfortunately for us our visit coincided with a train strike. Due to the strike we had to drive into London- Β£12 but free parking at the YHA! Private room with shower and toilet. Friendly staff. Basic but a youth hostel!

An oasis of calm so close to London. The staff were wonderful.

We had the outside creative experience today, with two reception classes, which was engaging and busy. The staff were polite and freindly. The activities were easy enough to do but it worked so well. Even parents were busy with their projects. Such a great area to be in.

I would so much have loved to give a stellar review- much more fun to regale a bad experience. But here, unfortunately, we are. Two stars. First, the good part: the accommodation looks really nice, both outside and in. The staff is very friendly. But. My impression is that current staff have no real experience in this line of work, and have had barely any training or instruction. Several issues occured, and none were solved by the staff without me begging and pleading and/or handwalking them through solutions. Issue 1: Checking in was very hard, because of an issue that could have been easily resolved Issue 2: A late arrival was refused check-in because of the same (already resolved) issue, suggesting that no correction had been made in the system, and no information had been relayed from shift to shift. Issue 3: After it had been confirmed that my room would be available the next day, I returned late in the evening to discover that it actually was not. Issue 4: Staff knew there was an issue, had my phone number and could easily have called me, but left the issue for me to discover too late in the evening for me to make good alternative arrangements. Issue 5: The room had not been cleared out, my backpack and dirty laundry were still in the room, it was hard to convince staff to risk bothering the new occupants of the room, and at least retrieve my luggage so that I could on on my merry way (I ended up sleeping on the floor of a church hall- so all's well that ends well, and five stars for both the vicar and the Church of England ;-) ) I truly believe that this was no ill will, but also that, since so many things were botched so weirdly by so many people, that the issues there are structural, and this might happen to other people as well. And no worries about me, I am resilient enough to figure something out, but imagine a teenager who in the morning hears that they will be accommodated, and when they return are told that they need to leave. Without their luggage, and without having another place to go to. It's just not responsible. Seriously, YHA, sort this out, because it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Good size family room, could do with a bit of spruce up but does the job. Great for travelling into London.

I have just spent the best few days at YHA Lee Valley. The first week in October was like Spring time ! It was perfect. The Youth Hostel is lovely and if you like cycling, or walking, it's in the perfect location very close to Cheshunt railway station. My room, which was in one of the cabins, was very comfortable and quiet, with a private shower and loo. Everything at the hostel is kept spotlessly clean and I found it very relaxing. The River Lee Country Park is on the door step and there is a park entrance opposite the youth hostel, where you can cycle along the paths, or walk. The canal is just a few minutes away and you can cycle or walk along the tow path and periodically have a break to watch the boats go through the locks. I cycled North along the tow path on my first day, towards Broxbourne and then to Dobbs Weir lock for a drink. I came back along the East side of the park. A very pleasant day out ( apart from Clayton Hill in the park, which was a bit of a shock for my little leggies ! ) The view was nice though at the top ( and so was the bench to have a sit down ! ) The following day I headed south along the canal to Waltham Abbey, then continued all the way down to the Olympic Park to have a look around, before cycling back again, stopping half way at a cafe, by the rowing club on the river, to get a well earned hot chocolate. The weather was great too, which helped a bit ! A lovely location for a Youth Hostel, which is very well managed by the very helpful and lovely staff there. Thank you for a very nice stay. I have come home feeling very refreshed !

Got terrible sleep while staying here in a private room. The walls are very thin, and I got woken up multiple times by noises from other guests entering and leaving, using the bathroom, and walking around in the room above me. You get what you pay for.

Friendly staff, clean room and very good value. Slightly loud until midnight, but that's early enough to not be a problem to me.

This hostel is as good as many hotels I've stayed in. We had a 2-bed room with ensuite bathroom in a new-looking wooden lodge. Compared to many hostels I stayed in 50 years ago it was luxurious, but it could have been better - the socket above one bed didn't work because there was no wall socket for it to plug into! And finishes in the bathroom suggested the job had been done in a hurry with no checks. The lodge had its own kitchen, but we went to The Crown at Broxbourne for our evening meal and ate the hostel's excellent cooked breakfast. The lodges are hidden from the front of the hostel so security is quite good. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

We stayed here for two nights for our Year 6 residential. We used as a base to visit Whipsnade zoo and the White Water Centre. The staff were amazing and were always willing to help and answer our many questions. The food was delicious. The only negative was the mattresses, not very comfy. However, I understand that they are practical and easy to clean. Thanks for a great stay πŸ˜€

Very convenient for London and clean, warm facilities. Train station right at doorstep and got out from London to Cheshunt in 20 minutes by train. Parking facilities for those with cars. Participated in the kayaking with amazing facilitators who made the event really fun. Very well run.

Stayed here for two nights self-catered. Staff were very friendly and welcoming upon my arrival. The room itself was a Scandinavian cabin and had an ensuite shower compartment.

Sadly declined. Lots of snags and the management did not seem very interested in them. We had a slow leak over the top bunk that left the pillow soaked and our friends had a bunch of other problems.

Youth hostel but no need to be a member. Food and drinks available or cook your own. Bedding provided. Good base for local activities and for train services to London.

The hostel is clean and quiet. We enjoyed our stay. We forgot our book in the room and YHA stuff helped to send it to us. We are so happy to receive our book. The hostel is close to the country park and we have walked around in the park. The park is nice and peaceful.
