A real surprise. I would not describe myself as an opera or ballet fan, but my Back Stage Tour stirred as unexpected interest. The tour is well worth the money, very well presented by well-informed and likeable tour guides. The labarynth of a site has had a fascinating history. Loved it, highly recommended. I'm sure there is room for the Opera House to develop more/different tours as well. I would be very interested should it ever happen.

Give ballet a go. Never interested much before today and my wife really wanted to go. We have two kids under 7 and I was very doubtful the kids (or I) could make it through 2hrs without an itch to leave. So we found some seats on level 6. Tickets were between £8 (standing) - £30(regular seats). We went to the Nutcracker on December 21st. I knew the music 🎶 but the whole show was spectacular. The venue, unbelievable. Maybe it had some extra Christmas magic but nonetheless, an amazing the experience. I as wrong about ballet and pleasantly surprised that two young kids (and I) made it through without an itch. Here is to the next one. Give ballet a go. 🩰 🙌

Delightful place. Very well kept and clean. Outside, inside, toilets, shop, everything perfect. Staff extremely helpful, I couldn’t find the toilets and one member of the staff approached me and showed me the way. Polite waiters and good food as well. 5 stars indeed.

Wow. What a beautiful opera house! Conveniently located with in several feet of the Jubilee market, it was easy to find. The food and beverages sold are of a great variety from healthy vegetarian, pastries to salads. There is terrace which is fabulous. Not to mention the gift shop that has a reasonably priced selection to suit anyone. My seat was superb located in the Donald Gordon tier. Othello was a treat to behold! This took place on July.

Absolutely fantastic. The orchestra. The dancers. Such a high quality performance the best!! The costumes. The decor. All is majestic and spectacular. The staff is kind and helpful. I had the best evening. I watched the nutcracker on Dec 7 2023. I will definitely come again as soon as I go back to the UK. My best UK experience this Xmas. Just Magic. Thank you so much and continue ROH team

Our favourite 'watering hole' in London as the view is amazing, in nice weather the balcony windows slide open and the drinks are exquisite. We just noticed the window image this time too. So nice! We only pop in for drinks when we are in London by the way. Highly recommended...

Stunning. It wasn’t on my bucket list but should have been. We saw and heard a wonderful performance. May I thank the staff. We must have spoken to at least 6 or 7 of them over the evening. They were so helpful, and accommodating, and just seemed interested in what they were doing. Many many thanks for a lovely evening, an experience to cherish.

This is probably one of my favourite places in London. To be fair, the seats are not the kindest to people with long legs, but they are quite comfortable. The front-of-house teams are always incredibly polite, helpful and friendly. Careful of the bar for refreshments as they are a bit pricey, but overall if you're there for a show you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful opera house in the heart of covent garden. The building looks modern from outside, but it is beautiful on the inside. It is almost like a museum and has beautiful portraits and installations on the history of the royal ballet. We went to see Giselle, and it was an absolutely phenomenal performance, totally worth it! The opera hall is beautiful, and is designed in a way that every person gets a decent view of the stage (even the ones sitting at the back). There are many cafes and bars inside, so lots of places to get food and alcohol.

The Royal Opera House is astonishing ! Very beautiful inside and out. We had an opera to see and security checked our bags you can tell they were making sure we were all safe. You can get lost easily but there is ushers everywhere to help you find your seat. When we got their we wanted to get a quick bite before the show but it was so busy 20 mins before the show. Not enough staff to help with orders. A bit pricy for the drinks and food. I would highly recommend to eat before you come here and maybe just buy drinks. Which you can order ahead of time and they will have your order ready during intermissions. I thought this was great. It was beautiful here. The opera stage and music was phenomenal. Once the show starts you will not be allowed out and the doors will close. It was a very lovely experience here will highly recommend.

The Royal Opera House is an impressive venue. The acoustics are great, and the seats are comfortable enough for long productions. The staff is friendly and professional. Prices at the bar are reasonable. Generally, you have a good view from most seats. I tried the Director’s Box and Row E, and the views were great. It is centrally located and features a classic, luxurious design with a touch of modernity.

It was our first time attending the Opera at this unique building. The building founded in 1732 has a Baroque Revival architecture. It’s exceptionally week conserve and has a hall of fame to remember the artists who performed along the years. The staff are very attentive and everything is well organized. All seats in platea have good viewing. Wonderful experience not to be missed.

(Translated by Google) It is a hall with a unique atmosphere that is different from a continental theater. After several visits to the opera, classical ballet and modern ballet, Colin Davis's "Tannhäuser" before the 90's major renovation and Peter Wright's "Nutcracker" were especially impressive after the renovation.

Went to watch the Swan Lake with a friend. The place was crowded with people and still you could sense the order. Very good bars with nice views of the city. The seats, even though we were sitting in the upper part of the theatre, were comfortable.

It’s one of my favourite places in London! Free tickets for under 18’s, authentic and classic atmospheric interiors and ability to buy drinks in the half time. What else do you need? Every show is usually up to three hours long, so it serves as a great day trip.

Fantastic and funny performance of magical fairy tales intertwined. Wolf, witch, giant fairy was a great show for kids and adults alike. Amazing costumes, enchanting set and very engaging performances by all. The Royal Opera House is a great venue and the Lindbury Theatre was a fabulous smaller stage.

Magnificent place that should be visited by all, for all ages, all sets of individuals and families. You don't even need to go for an opera or ballet show. You can simply enjoy the cafe, the food and drinks are awesome, bring your laptop and study or work, have a wonder around. Check the restaurant on the top, enjoy the beautiful views of the city and convent garden. The ROH spaces and floors get literally transformed throughout the day, offering different workshops, restaurant areas, and more. Go ahead and book yourself a backstage tour. See with your own eyes the magnificent logistics that go around every day throughout the building. There's family workshops on Sundays. ROH offers apprenticeships in a variety of subjects, level 3, and degree level, to anyone 18+ who do not have a degree. Check their website. There's plenty backstage, business, IT, technical, and more subjects to choose from. If you're looking to get some work experience off stage, this is the place to go to, and the same goes for volunteering. It is a great place to work, international, multi cultural, majestic, age friendly, disability friendly employer. I definitely recommend it, and I will be coming more and bringing my 3 - and 7 year's old kids with me! WELL DONE TO ALL ROH STAFF!

Huge space with very good acoustics, this theatre is used to stage both opera and ballet. It is the third theatre to be on this site and was greatly renovated in the late 1990's. With a capacity of over 2200 seats it is the third largest in London.

I have watched a lot of shows, and been in many theatres… the Royal Opera House is the most beautiful I’ve ever been in. The building, the seats, the drapings are kept immaculate, and the grandeur and splendour is astounding. My breath was taken away the first time I stepped in the auditorium! I’ve also been to watch 5 ballets so far here, and all of them have been world-class, the Royal Ballet are some of the world’s best dancers and they dance and act so beautifully. Swan Lake was by far my favourite, the story, the characters, the drama, the emotion, everything was perfection. I love this building and the shows it has and will be back many more times to watch many more productions!!!

A beautiful, historic place to visit. We saw Swan Lake and it was magical! The seats are comfy and there are lots of ladies toilets for the important intermission dash. No big queues! They have renovated the building so beautifully. TIP: pop outside to the terrace bar for some air during the breaks (it will help keep you awake!)

Wonderful place. Just one word to describe it. Magnificent. Its like when u enter, u go wawwww and then the quality of the Drama is mind blowingly well made. The acting is horrifically great and the setting is just ... u have to see it. That is the only way.

I visited the building as part of the London Open House festival. The areas outside of the auditorium are very spacious and include a shop, cafes, bars, restaurants, and an area where you get views of Covent Garden. The auditorium had good acoustics and many seats.

We went to the nutcracker spectacle in December and we got tickets for the amphitheater, Row J, Seat 52-no armrests. Even though we were at the top, we were still able to fully enjoy the ballet and the orchestra. Additionally, we easily found our seats thanks to the staff members. It is important to keep in mind that tickets sell out quickly so if you want to attend to the ballet you have to buy the tickets in advance. (We bought our tickets in August and the event was in December) Congratulations to the dancers and musicians🌟!

One of my favourite destinations in London. I love going to ballets and the Royal Opera offers some of the most incredible performances and artists! You can immediately feel the vibes when entering the building which is decorated in the most stunning and elegant way! The Royal Opera offers both ballet pieces as well as opera pieces. Further, the place has a lovely cocktail space and restaurant, for you to have a romantic dinner or drinks before the performances or during the break. Absolutely recommended and I already cannot wait for my next round there! ❤

Went to "the two pigeons" tonight, a marvellous choreography, lovely music. The cast is good, Muntagirov is ever so great. Worth going! Enjoyed the stage, lighting and costumes, good production. The venue was recently refurbished, really like the new part. Also lovely terrace with a view on Covent garden.

Beautiful place to visit. We went to a lunchtime recital in this amazing building, where you can access in Covent Garden... apart from the lovely music, the Opera House itself is so worth a visit, gorgeous rooms, chandeliers and gift shop. There is also a coffee shop. Lovely atmosphere.

Beautiful venue! Definitely makes for a magical night. Great range of seats at different price ranges so perfect for all people. Staff were lovely and plenty of bathrooms available around the venue. Was great to finally see a real orchestra in a London theatre. The bar and restaurant look amazing but I did not go into either. Will definitely go next time.

The Royal Opera House is an absolutely stunning venue with gorgeous architecture. The seats are quite comfortable, however throughout the performance, there was a consistent flow of cold air blowing directly at my feet, which left me feeling extremely cold throughout the show.

Beautiful venue with great facilities. I've been to the opera here twice in last six months. The acoustics are fantastic and the stage sets were incredible. It always feels like a very special experience. You can order drinks and snacks including crips or sandwiches for the interval.

Had an amazing time on the Virgin Experience Tour and the tour guide was AMAZING!!!!!!!! I wish I could remember his name but I know he had started this job only last year and wow, what a dearth of knowledge he had! Thankyou for making it amazing. We were lucky to have seen Ed sheeran's crew set up for the concert and how the lights and the music bounced against the acoustic diffusers above ! Well worth going to and I am definitely going to be booking tickets 🎟 for a show! Xxxx

Attending the ballet performance of Manon at the Royal Opera House was an exquisite experience from start to finish. From the moment we stepped into the opulent venue, we were transported into a world of elegance and artistry. The performance of Manon was nothing short of spectacular. The dancers executed every movement with precision and grace, captivating the audience with their skill and emotion. The choreography was mesmerising, perfectly complementing the intricate storyline of love, betrayal, and tragedy. The sets and costumes were breathtaking, transporting us to 18th-century France with their attention to detail and lavish design. Each scene was a visual feast, immersing us further into the world of Manon. The orchestra, under the guidance of a talented conductor, brought Jules Massenet's haunting score to life, enhancing the emotional depth of the performance. Overall, the Royal Opera House delivered a truly unforgettable evening of ballet with their production of Manon. It was an honour to witness such talent and artistry on stage, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to both ballet aficionados and newcomers alike. Bravo to the entire cast and crew for an outstanding performance!

Great experience of watching Theodora Opera show! I am not a particular fan of the opera but it was definitely an impressive experience. The singers and orchestra are amazing and the Opera House itself is such an aesthetic building. They have a deal of £25 tickets for under 25 years which I would recommend if you want the experience because it is very pricey otherwise

Went to see Cinderella, Ballet 🩰 Oh my gosh, AMAZING 🤩 First time being at the Royal Opera House and what an experience. Packed with history and amazing views. Extraordinary. A spectacular building and London venue. Loved it. We'd looked forward to our first ROH visit and were genuinely impressed when we entered the stunning auditorium. The newer atrium is also a wonderful facility for meeting-up before the performance, sharing a drink overlooking Covent Garden, even white-tablecloth lunch. The ballet was extraordinary too!

Did not see a show, but did the backstage tour of the building. Very interesting and educational. Beautiful theater with a lot of history and you visit the box where the royals sit, visit costuming areas, see the massive sets they create and how they move them! Amazing. Nice view from the bar on the 5th floor.

  • 5/5 Jo 3 months ago on Google New
It is one of my favourite places in London. You can enjoy it when you go to a show or when you aren't attending any. Go straight to Davies Terrace, on the 5th floor, where you can have nice drinks and amazing food, while you indulge in the stunning view of Covent Garden. Extra seasonal drinks in winter season like mulled wine, and if you never tried mulled apple, please do! It's a MUST! It is served here, and it's delicious!!!Highly recommend! The view from the terrace has got its own beauty during the day, but at night, it's spectacular, especially now in winter with the Christmas lights and decorations! Spectacular indeed! No booking is required, and Covent Garden tube station ( Picadilly Line) is walking distance away. If you know Central London and if you are lucky enough you will find a parking spot around but it isn't easy so I would recommend public transport instead!

  • 5/5 Len S. 2 years ago on Google
Went on the tour, excellent trip around the opera house, but not behind the stage. Sat in the Royal box as our host gave us plenty of information of the history of this wonderful building. Definitely recommend the tour!

I adore the ROH. Just went for a quick tour of the building. Pop in on Sunday, have a stroll around, stop at the café and at the shop.( just now, before Xmas is great!) Don't forget to go on the second floor too as the top view of Covent Garden is fab.

  • 4/5 James W. 2 years ago on Google
Fantastic building and a pleasant experience although i do have three big criticisms. A few maps would be useful to explain which bars for different drinks and where you are. The seats being angled to face the stage not the audience so you are not having to angle yourself or strain your neck to view the stage (I'm sure it is probably because it's a grade one listed building but who cares about the chairs if they are failing to function properly. My final point again on drink is they should just have a few electronic kiosks dotted around for pre orders of drinks as there is a complete bottle neck of people queuing at the bar and people barely have time to have a drink, I suspect plenty of people just give up. The performances were wonderful and the set design and lighting excellent however.

  • 4/5 Kaye R. 2 years ago on Google
The building is amazing, and obvio the acoustic perfect. There are some dresses in exhibition. We went to see the magic flute and was great!! The only bad thing about the building is how small the sits are (REALLY small) and how hot was inside during the show.

Went for Faust It was visually stunning and a great experience. Highly recommend having your tickets, champagne etc on your mobile phone as that expedites the process and arrive early if you want to coat check. The intermission was very short so I would send someone to find a seat and someone to grab drinks if you want to be able to enjoy them before rushing back for the last acts. Would say most people were dressed quite casually which I was not expecting compared to The Met Opera House

Open house at the Royal Opera House meant an obligatory visit, of course. Got to walk around the different floors, and had the chance of seeing some of the rich history of these amazing artists. The only regret I had was not being able to visit any of the stalls or the amphitheater. There is also a bar on the top level, it looked really lovely, full of plants and offering a nice view of the busy Covent Garden area.

Architecturally a stunning example of how to connect old with new. There are many public spaces that you can appreciate and explore many of the public amenities such as the cafe and roof terrace that overlooks Covent Garden market. A great selection of food and drinks in the ground floor cafe. Would definitely make this the spot to meet up with everyone instead of of bustling market.
