I visit The Standing Order - JD Wetherspoon every week and it never disappoints. It's a great pub with an excellent range of drinks and food to suit all tastes. I always have a good time when I am there, chatting with friends or playing the slot machines.

Bright, clean and relaxed. All the usual wetherspoon effects.

Stopped here after an event in the area. Placed order via app. Food arrived quickly. One was hot one was cold. Halfway through my meal I went to find our drinks which were still standing on the bar. There is free 3hr parking within walking distance. My husband enjoyed his meal.

Weatherspoon has always been favourite for many people in the vicinity, specially for students and people who want to have a nice meal-drinks with family/friends but not looking for a fun diner. The USP of weatherspoon has always been in delivering food options in budget and its always dear news to wallet. Also it does offer variety of side dishes and wide range of beers, aloykg with foods etc that anyone would love that. There are loads of tables so you will get one (except of Saturdays when its gets full by 8ish, but just 10 mins wait max maybe)

Went here for a drink with friends on Sunday evening whilst staying at the hotel next door. Didn’t realise that it was a Wetherspoon pub but it wasn’t busy and the lounge area was relaxing and clean. The cost of drinks were amazingly cheap and I was happy that there was a great pint of Adnams Broadstairs at more than half the price of usual pubs and well kept. The only downside was after a couple of beers we had some sharing platters that were not great and not good value. Just stick with drinks and be happy 😉. The staff were happy and efficient

This was a blast from the past. Spent many a time in here when I worked locally and as I was back in the area for a meeting we popped in. Not much has changed, still busy, great selection of ales and prices are fantastic. Managed to bump into some old colleagues from 8 years ago who were enjoying a drink after work.

Went here on a Sunday night with a group of friends. Lovely atmosphere, quick service and good food as always. The food is cooked well, and is always a good price. But you get what you pay for. Drinks are always lovely, and just a great place to go to with your friends

Food was super fast and hot, I ended up going to get our drinks from the bar as they had not arrived when the food was delivered. It's great in summer with a lovely outside space, the inside is a little dated

Honestly didn't stay long. It looked like a nice building and the inside looked alright, standard spoons really but as we walked into the bar and through towards the bar, we noticed a terrible smell. We visited on the evening of the 9th Dec 23. Not sure what it was, maybe some of the clientel but it was aweful! We decided to leave shortly after, hence the low score, sorry.

I am always amazed at the value for money of a Wetherspoons pub. Don’t expect outstanding food and do expect to help yourself to condiments but this is the trade off for extremely good value. £8.15 got me a large breakfast and a Pepsi— the kind of value which isn’t very common.

Absolutely an incredible dinning experience, we had a delicious meal, a drink and a very tasty dessert for a really good price. The service was fast, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I am definitely recommending it to everyone. 5 stars, top to bottom, inside out.

Food and drinks were great when they arrived. Unfortunately the relaxed attitude of the waiter staff really lets this place down (this doesn't include the bartender).

Well it wasn't very inspiring, Food wasn't brilliant, it was luke warm sadly. but staff were nice, They actually need to make the place more inviting, especially as just a few weeks to Xmas,

Nice little pub in the Old Town, lots of restaurants close by as well if you're not interested in the pub's fare. As with pretty much all of the chain great selection of beer and ales with great service. Quite a few locals in when we visited which is always a good thing.

Everything on our breakfast plate was cold and very poor quality we couldn't eat it. Cocktail sticks to stir tea? Last meal there was not good thought it was a one off but definitely not going to waste our money there again. The one star is for the young lady behind the bar who was very pleasant and welcoming.

Breakfast trip. Quick service. Wraps have shrunk somewhat but are still nice. No longer available as a deal with coffee which is strange as the much cheaper muffins have a drink included in the price. Still £1.29 for a very good unlimited refill is still a bargain. The App still won't let you customise orders so still having to order at the bar.

Great pub, always wish we could stay longer. Gets so busy sometimes you're packed in like sardines when garden closes, but always see old friends so its quite sociable when this happens. Would be inclined to give 5 stars if there was ever any toilet roll in the women's loos!

I end up visiting many weatherspoons all over the country as around 10-11pm very few places still serve a balanced dinnertime meal. Weatherspoons is just about the only place who will. I know sometimes the pubs turn the taps down on the soft drinks but in here it is like drinking slightly flavoured water. Not really much point in complaining though... The next one will be as bad and the waiter will look at you as if you are being stupid. Then the kitchen didn't seem to get that a medium rare steak shouldn't be black on top. They did fix this though and it was better on the second attempt. It is safe to say if you want a weatherspoons and can travel to another that is worthwhile doing. Bit of a shame really as there's plenty of options for parking at the rear.

It's okay for a quick bite to eat or a drink or 2 with friends. I've noticed the past couple of times I've been in here, you approach the bar and its always sticky, dirty and wet from spilled drinks. There's empty glasses just left laying around on empty tables so I've had to clear them myself in order to sit down and have a drink. Staff are usually quite friendly and service is fairly quick

Typical Weatherspoon value for money pub I had a spectacular managers special turkey for just £2.99! There is a selection of competitively priced beers and value for money food selection. The only downside is local heavy drinkers who seem to proliferate in their establishments and do not create an ambience, also never enough staff on duty, however it is a clean pleasant environment with a glazed conservatory at the rear of the premises and well worth a visit

Love it - the food is good and great value these days. This place fills a gap for those of us who want go eat and drink out without blowing the budget.

Typical Wetherspoons offering the usual great breakfast. As well as the alcohols.. Opens at 8am and there is free parking outside for 2 hours..

I rate it highly on atmosphere, service and pricing. I visited Stevenage High Street one morning to look around. First priority was to find somewhere for a light breakfast. I chose this pub and am pleased I did.

What you would expect from a Spoons, decent food at a decent price in a nice environment. The food arrived relatively quickly and the team members were cheerful and polite. If your lucky you can also park outside for free for upto 2 hours.

Great indoor and outdoor seating. Typical spoons drinks and food. Excellent service especially when busy. The table service feature makes getting drinks so much easier.

No drink this time, unless you count coffee. Breakfast was hot and excellent value. The place was ridiculously clean with a lady polishing the brass on the Women's toilets. It was Polling Day and was only about 8.35am. Excellent.

Wel, eggs Benedict and as much coffee as you like. Then stay for lunch and a pint. Then Dinner and a glass of wine. Enjoy the outside space or sit in the cool interior in Summer. Not fine dining and not definitely not posh clientele but we'll priced selection of alcohol and friendly staff. Good place to eat and drink in general and it's for the people and I like that.

Nice place, busy the usual Wetherspoons, coffee in paper cups & forgot a meal other than that we enjoyed our visit and I loved the price..

Great branch of wetherspoons, nice atmosphere, however, ashtrays need to be emptied alot more regularly and tables cleared outside.

Terrible experience, we sat down for a meal and after a while it became apparent they weren't serving tables so figured out we had to either order at the till or download an app - we opted for the latter and when we finally had all our meals selected and wanted to pay, the app had removed all food but left the drinks, thus we went to the till to order only to be told they had to shut the kitchen as it was too busy and orders were taking over 90 minutes to prepare. I can understand that this might happen, but one would expect a verbal announcement of sorts, or even someone at the door to inform people of the challenges in the kitchen.

Nice outside area, friendly staff, great drinks! Nice place to meet people and hang out with friends. Drinks are very nicely priced too, £3 for a pint of cider

  • 5/5 Chris H. 2 years ago on Google
Always good value. Not sure where some of the real ales come from. I generally only drink ale from a brewery that’s been in existence for more than 100 years. Some are described as “citrusy “ If I want a citrus flavoured drink I’ll have a grapefruit juice.

Food seems to be going downhill for me. Bern a few times in last six months, one time burger was almost burnt, one time chicken pieces were dry, one time chips seemed a small portion and queried it. It seems big but most of the tables have 1 person on them or 2 people and therefore it's not always easy to get a table and I often end up down the road at the draper's arms with better food but worse ale.

Nice pub located in the old town. Usual set up, ie. cheap beers and good food with a long walk to the toilet!! Staff are friendly. Outside covered seating is nice too. Overall worth a visit. The beef Madras is cheap and lovely 👍🏻
