Oh My How Disappointing. First arrived and the place looked old and dirty. Chairs had rips in and table was sticky. We ordered food and again was very disappointed. I ordered steak and the majority of my steak was fat and gristle. The peas were clearly microwaved as they resembled green raisins. If that wasn’t bad enough when using the bathroom I was met by two people sniffing coke up there noses! Not really suitable for a family pub. This is the first and last time I’ll be going to the crooked billet. AVOID AT ALL COST

The pub is lovely. I've been here a few times for a drink and light lunch. The service is often slow but the atmosphere is usually good. There is a pool table and darts to play. There is plenty of parking normally and you can go outside of the A1 for a nice country walk.

Children are welcome but that is not my preference for a night out. Staff are brilliant and very friendly. Food is like any other Hungry Horse I guess. Well worth a visit during the week but gets busy at weekends. Plenty of room for kids to play outside when weather permitting. Good off road parking. Toilets are always clean and presentable.

Went today for my nieces naming party. Despite the pub being informed that 30 people plus would be there, there was no evidence of any of the staff being prepared. There was only two young women trying their best to help. Frankly it was a disgrace. I wouldn't know what the food was like as we had to leave before the kitchen could have served us.

The popularity of this pub surely shows how well it is doing. As part of the Green King franchise, it is nothing out of the ordinary, but the staff are friendly and food is good. There is a good atmosphere inside the pub which makes you feel welcome and relaxed. We enjoyed declicous 8oz rump steaks, burgers and a kids meal all reasonably priced and well cooked. In fact it's been a long time since I had a steak this tender.

First time visiting The Crooked Billet, came here with my father for a quiet drink and we got exactly that. Very serene, peaceful and the bar staff are very nice too. This will definitely be my pub of choice for the future!

Monday and Tuesday it closes early and there is no food, but very friendly staff. I don't know whether the times change during the summer months. Lovely village pub, good atmosphere. Worth visiting.

We decided to try this pub for the first time. We started with a meal 3 course the steak pie is delicious by all accounts we had the breaded garlic mushrooms to start and i had a banoffee pie for pudding which was lovely. and drinks which were really reasonably priced. We continued the evening with about 8 games of pool only 3 of which i won!. It wasnt too busy but this made it an all more enjoyable evening the food was great! We had a great evening and will definately go there again. Best pub we have been to. Since living in stevenage.

About 150 years old Pub in Symonds common. Nice open lawns for outdoor sitting. Children's play area. Good ambience and snacks.
