Very tasty roast with a lovely view in the garden. Staff were also very friendly and covid secure. No heaters for those who sit on the garden benches, so make sure to wrap up! Service was a bit slow, and unfortunately we waited 30 minutes for dessert which arrived burnt. However, the staff kindly gave us a full refund on this item.

Went for lunch with my wife and 3 friends. Sat outside as lovely warm day. Two of us had the steak pie which was one of the best I've ever tasted. One friend had the fish & chips, others had burgers, all thought very good. Service was quick with friendly and helpful staff, I was given a taster of a beer to help me decide. There is no car park here but we parked in the Civic Centre, only 2 minutes away. Very enjoyable meal, pleased to recommend it.

Visited the White Horse after seeing it has reopened under new management and was pleasantly surprised! There’s now a really nice atmosphere in the pub, a much wider choice of lagers available and staff were really helpful and polite. We didn’t eat but I overheard several customers saying how good the food was so am sure to return for a meal. And to top it off; they’re also showing the live sports! Well done the White Horse.

Went here last night, not only was the food shocking and overpriced but both girls behind the bar were quite rude to our group and we wasn’t made to feel welcome. Got stung £14 for a shot and a pint, whilst this was corrected it was done so with awful attitude. This place used to do really good food and be a really nice place to go. What has happened to this pub…. I have a photo of the £15 shocking burger but it won’t let me post it. Pretty sure none of us will return here, rose and crown has a much better atmosphere with nicer staff.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere unfortunately food let it all down. One meal didn't arrive with others and in rush to get it out burger undercooked, chips soggy. Wrong pizza delivered. Table not cleared even though we finished sometime before leaving. No one in bar to talk about it on leaving. Can't be put down being busy very quiet Sunday lunchtime.

Popped by the White Horse for a Monday lunch. Lovely food as always and friendly attentive staff. Had a Mediterranean tart with salad followed by a Vegan cheesecake. Bargain at just over a tenner. Mention for Charlotte, and also for Libby from previous visits.

My friend and I met there today for a lovely Sunday lunch.I chose this pub as we had not had good experiences at another pub in the area but liked the reviews for the White Horse. We were not disappointed. Great food, lovely friendly attentive staff, good customer service, comfy seating, and many smiles. You will see us again soon. Keep up the good work. Welwyn Fabulous looking pub, friendly attentive comfortable seating

Service was excellent, but you pay for it in the service charge. Nicely decorated pub with a relaxed atmosphere. We had roast beef, which was very overcooked and tough. The small carrots had a weird hard skin with a soft centre. We also ordered cauliflower cheese, which was not very cheesy. Sticky toffee pudding was very nice. It's a shame the roast dinner was poor compared to other local pubs.

Not impressed at all, went with my husband for dinner, ordered pie of the day with mash , veg and gravy, had to ask for the gravy to be told that chicken pie (which was the pie of the day) didn’t come with gravy, when I said I still wanted some I had to wait for several minutes for it to arrive, and it was only tepid, waitress did ask if I wanted her to get some more fresh, But as my husband was over half way through his meal I said no, only to find that my mash and veg were also only slightly warm, and although the chicken was hot the pie crust was cold. I then ordered the treacle tart with clotted cream, I asked if the tart could please be hot and was told yes, when it came the tart was barely warm and the clotted cream was only a teaspoon full, which I would say was a garnish, I took it back to one of the waitresses and said the tart was cold, had to wait over 10 mins for a new one, again cream was just a garnish, and the tart, well it was less warm than the original one, the place wasn’t busy and at first we were the only people in the restaurant and by the time we left there were only another 2 tables with customers, needless to say not somewhere I would recommend to go

Excellent service and friendliness of the staff. You can eat in either the bar or restaurant or outside or in their lovely garden. Portions are very plentiful, we ordered starter and main course and struggled to finish our meals so make sure you are hungry when you go. The only negative is that parking is difficult and if you are disabled like myself it causes problems. My husband had to drop me outside and go and park the car elsewhere. However, the food and service more than made up for the parking difficulties.

My first visit. Met with some colleagues for dinner. Great selection of Beers, Ales and Lagers. Super food lots of choice on the menu i had the Smokey Burger. Only slight downside is no on site parking, however there are is a small free Parish car park just around the corner plus a few on street spaces. Really enjoyed the visit and will be back with a designated driver 😀

My dad's local for a number of years the pub has seen some ownership changes but a recent visit confirmed the pub is in good hands. The menu selection is excellent and reasonably well priced and the evening set menu at £16 for two courses represents great value. With a good choice of beers lagers ciders and a friendly attentive service we will definitely be returning.

Not welcomed on arrival or given menus or told to order at bar. Staff too busy eating their lunch? Asked if main course was nut free...checked it was. Thankyou. Smoke alarm went off then food brought to table and vegetarian pie still totally cold in the middle and top burnt. Was returned and brought back hot 15 mins later, but no offer to recompense. Food being the right temperature is a health and safety issue. I see from reviews this has happened a few times...how can this be. Anyone trained to cook knows to check temp of food if reheating! Not impressed at all.

The most loveliest staff (and lovely roast dinner). My partner awfully collapsed in the pub and the team called an ambulance for my partner and were so amazing supporting me and my parter and his family so I wish I could give more than 5 stars because they were amazing and they even rang me afterwards to check I was okay. But the incident aside, the service and atmosphere was perfect and the decor inside was beautiful and the food was so yummy but thank you all so much for everything you did for me and my partner and family

Friendly and attentive service, though food could be better. Roast beef a bit tough and pie crust was underdone. Chips weren’t great but roast potatoes good. Mixed bag but bit underwhelming overall. Pricing is very reasonable and kids menu generous.

Last Saturday we held an 18th birthday party with the White Horse in their private hire room. April was very helpful in the organisational process, communication was easy and she catered to all our requests. The room was perfect, with the benefit of having the doors open into our own section of the garden on such a beautiful evening. We had a sharing buffet which was more than enough food for our 60+ guests. The food was excellent and well presented. We also had our own private section of the bar which worked well with our party. The pub arranged a DJ for us also. Would recommend the White Horse as a venue for a party, it’s a great venue and atmosphere and April was friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to April and the team, we had a great night!!!!

My girlfriend and I had a lovely Sunday Roast in here. Roast potatoes, green beans , cabbage and parsnips. With very good meats and very nicely cooked and presented. The inside of the pub is beautifully decorated and it has a great beer garden at the back. A little gem.

We had Sunday lunch. My husband had roast duo of chicken and beef. I had the vegan Wellington both came with assorted vegetables, roast potatos and Yorkshire puddings. We had crumble and custard and sticky toffee pudding for desert. Everything was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend

Such a shame as this place used to be great. Drinks needed reordering multiple times (not guaranteed to turn up .. it was only a couple of cokes), over an hour for the food to arrive and when it finally did there was a fly in the gravy. No apology. The food was burnt and way below average. The service was pretty off key as if tbh couldn’t really care less. Really great space, food and service needs a serious overhaul.

Visited the White Horse for an evening meal. Traditional pub with a really good size garden with marquee and booths. The food was good portions, I had a burger which was one of the best I’ve had. Our waitress April was really friendly and professional and checked in on how our food was. For dessert we had chocolate fudge cake and cookie dough which were really tasty and well presented. Standard prices for a pub and good quality home cooked food. Would highly recommend and will return again.

Awful Sunday 'roast'. Cold, hard potatoes, watery gravy, hard veg, nothing seasoned. Avoid like the plague if you're looking for a decent meal.

Oh my days. That's the worst pub roast I've ever been served. Avoid. Lovley cosy little pub for a drink, 'chef' clearly isn't a chef. Don't waste time or money eating.

We booked a table for Christmas Dinner. In fact we're all still sat here, half are googling a 'dentist near me' as we've all lost teeth trying to bite into the so called roast potatoes! Im not one to complain about the standard of food but this was that bad that I literally want to invite Gordon ramsay to try and save this place! My honest bit of advice is that if you want a nice place to drink come here as it is a nice venue but dave the cleaner really let this kitchen and pub down by producing food that I'd honestly never feed my dog!

Booked a table using their online booking form. Received an email saying request had been received and they would be in touch to confirm booking within 48hrs. The next morning, received an email saying booking has been cancelled because I hadn't contacted them. I phoned to find out what was going on to be told, 'we don't have a chef for that night'. Obviously can't be bothered with any customer service. I won't be going back there.

A lovely village pub. Friendly staff. We had lunch there. The sandwich lunch menu had a wide choice. You could add soup and or fries to the meal and the price was reasonable. The food arrived fairly quickly. The food was tasty and the portions were just right for a lunch out. Will be going back to try their Sunday roast.

😠 Popped in a few times for lunch and breakfast. I can't tell how many times I had to ask to correct my order or replace the disgusting-looking food. The tables are often dirty and sticky. The staff treats you very well as long you don't complain about the food. They usually avoid eye contact so they...
