Found this bit of plastic in my battered sausage was eating it. And bit on something hard so pulled it put my mouth to find it was abit of plastic.

Bought 2 large fish and chips fed 4 people with leftovers making it about £5 per person. Generous portions and lovely food but chips could've been cooked a bit better as they were quite floppy.

Legendary fish and chips, never go anywhere else in the area. Staff are great, food is great not much else to say. They also cater for parties which is well worth it. Highly recommended.

Ive used this chip shop for about 7 years, I use to swear by it, all my family members use this chip shop now aswel, however recently I have noticed the odd hair in the food, I have notified them and stopped using them for a while, I then used these yesterday for the first time in ages, had cod and chips with my wife and it’s had to be the worst battered fish I’ve ever had, very limited cod and mostly batter, we continued to eat it as we were hungry, however my wife had been up all night along with myself being sick and on the toilet. Feels like the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had (always feels like that when you’re ill though). Will never go there ever again and will be contacting health and hygiene.

I have been a regular. I think this shop are living off their old reputation and grown complacent. Chips are not nice tasting and often a bit soggy. Fish is decent quaility but batter is also lack luster. Inconsistent in the portion sizes which is annoying. Staff are great and friendly. It is good clean food and seems very hygenic, just not worth the price. Extra disappointing given how highly they rate themselves. Tbf.. when they get it right they do get it very right

Great food, but EXCEPTIONAL customer service! The staff are always so friendly and the portions are amazing. The food is brilliant quality and the shop itself is always so clean and really well managed, considering how busy it can get. I've been in Stevenage for a while and I have tried other shops, none like this. Its just a shame where it is, not a nice area, but I'll take the risk for a banging dinner.

In my opinion it's the best chippy in stevenage. Been coming here for years, and always will.

Very disappointed lately. WJ Rowe used to be our go to chippy as the fish and chips were the best in Stevenage. The standards and portions of the food over the last year has gotten progressively worse and the order we received this evening was nothing short of disappointing. I'm afraid you've lost a long-time customer, we will be going elsewhere from now on

I haven't visited these premises in just under a year,due to working abroad.Its a good run excellent fish n chip shop ..But I was shocked to hear Denis has quit (The best fryer in the world ).Bring back Denis.Come on William swallow your pride and bring him back ...Vote Denis back people

Really nice food and well priced but need to serve people in correct order and not just give priority to regulars while ignoring new customers / those who go once every few,months.

Great Chippy !! 💯 its hard to keep such a good business running in these hard times, went there yesterday evening with the wife and we were impressed 😁 the guy serving was very acknowledging of regular customers and my wife a massive fan of curry sauce was given a sample of 3 different types, spicy mild or irish well hands down the paddy curry sauce was a winner 🏆 the guy even gave us a few chips to dunk for the full experience 😋 we'll done ✔️ keep up the good work and don't believe all the negative reviews!! Some people are hard to please 😳

After absolute years of using wj Rowe. I'm afraid you standards have slipped. The chips were really bad quality and almost slime. as for the portion sizes so inconsistent and disappointing We have been here so many times and we are so upset that I'm afraid we won't be back and will be switching to one or other of the two better options we have found in stevenage. I hope for your sakes you can pull it back and gain back your loyal customers

Received delivery. Regular chips, absolute rip off. Over charging and under portioned. I will never use your store again. Very very small portion.

I'm only giving 3 stars for the food because I felt the serving size was small, but it was good. The team is very friendly, very pleasant.

We went for the smaller portion for lunch, just the right sized portion. I had cod and chips and son wanted savaloy and chips. Freshly cooked and excellent value.

My very first time coming here was good and bad as I was visiting family very friendly staff they know what there doing food we order the 1/4 chicken was dry bit expensive for £4.50 the med cod was hard but kids fish was fresh, The curry's sauce wasn't big enough we bought two everything else was great just two things we bin.

Disgusting chips dry horrible pie and not nice the chip shop looks nice from the outside the food is rubbish and very meager portions aswell not worth the money the standard of the food is poor the chips were soggy and mushy and greasy

Very friendly service. Lovely fish and chips. They do a loyalty card! Even had free warm mince pies over Christmas. Highly recommended. They are not the nearest to us, but worth going a bit further from home.

Staff are always polite and have a laugh with myself and my partner every time we go in. (As my partner is a postman) we are now known as "Postie" and "Mrs Postie" whenever we arrive. (This always makes me giggle). Food is always freshly made to order and always delicious. Highly recommend 👌
