The restaurant itself is old and smells like it. We were seated on the aisle, with service staff passing by every 10 seconds. Speaking of service - it was pathetic to say the least. The food was ok, but then again, what does one expect from “Swedish meatballs”. Oh, and the cherry on the top, was being charged to store our coats. There are tons of amazing Swedish restaurants in Stockholm, this is certainly not one of them.

This place makes me so happy every single time I go that I’ve got to go back whenever I’m in Stockholm. The staff is charmingly arrogant with a twinkle in their eye, the food is always cooked to perfection (it makes your heart smile) and they always are keen to help recommend dishes depending on what you like.

The service was horrid in the beginning. The young gentleman that sat me down and gave me the menu than ignored me for about 25 minutes until I got up and ask for service myself at the bar where more experienced person helped me. The food was good by all means, but the service is a huge part of the experience and I wouldn’t go back just for that reason alone.

Confusing operating hours. Online it said they’re closed after 2:30 PM, but was able to book a table for 3 PM. From the sidewalk, when we arrived it looked closed. Good thing I saw people leaving and entering, and seems they had a bar area for dining hours for those eating at odd hours (not lunch or dinner). There was no receptionist so I had to call a female server and asked her if they were open and she looked at me funny. Anyway, finally sat down with my family. Our server was great (better than the one I asked). Interiors feels like you are transported back to olden times. Predominantly wood, with thick carpets and old photos on the walls. The food was not good. Steak was tough and hard to eat. The meatballs had an aftertaste that, upon eating more of the meatballs, was slightly sickening. I had to douse them in lingonberries to mask the gamey taste. I guess that’s traditional meatball taste in Sweden? I wasn’t a fan. The potato puree was good though. For the price, you are better off eating somewhere else. We paid around 1,200 SEK for 3 adults (and a kid). Thankfully, the male server, as I said, was good that he suggested a smaller portion (kiddie meal) for the meatballs for our kid. Which was more than enough, considering we didn’t like how it tasted.

If you want to look for such retro feeling with delicious foods to be served, then this place is your choice, no doubt! The foods were amazing and the waiters and waitresses were very kind and helpful. I tried the wallenbergare and it was yummy. If you want to get the table, better to book it in advance and please note that you will need to pay more for storing your jacket or coat during the cold time.

The place is unique I suppose, so from that point of view it worth the money. The food itself is nothing special. For me it's a bit expensive but it's Stockholm;-). Will I return next time I'm in Stockholm,... no. I eat toast with mushrooms and meatballs (se photos)

Food was mediocre. I know gastronomy is not Sweden's strongest asset, but the quality/price ratio was definitely subpar here. This was probably the most forgivable thing, though. When we were ordering we didn't feel like getting any wine and the service was very rude when they realized we did not want to order any alcohol. We were persuaded to order some schnaps we did not even want. Extremely unconfortable situation. Finally, when leaving, they told us we had to pay to store our coats. They did not tell us about it until we were leaving. At least they could have charged us for it with the dinner bill instead of having to pay separately...

Had a business lunch here. Took the special of the day which was really nice. But slower than your average lunch place but worth waiting for as it tasted really good. They have an extensive menu of mostly Swedish dishes for starter, main and desert and daily specials.

Love trying clearly-classic places like this; you can just feel it entering the establishment. I sat in the bar area for lunch (with no reservation, but they serve the full menu). You should note the coat check (much written about) which doesn’t seem optional, is not complimentary though there is nothing indicating such. Perhaps this is customary in the area, but other restaurants I visited in Stockholm/Scandinavia had coat racks by the entry to hang your coat and/or coat checks that were free of charge; this one is a couple USD so hang onto your coat if you’d like. I had a beer and the smoked salmon dish that came with dill creamed potatoes. It was excellent!

If you are looking for a good place to eat the classic Swedish dishes this is the place. In Sweden they call it Husmanskost and are very rich dishes with a lot of butter and crème. You can either eat in the dining room, bar or outside. Super nice staff and very down to earth spot with a lot of Swedish people which can only mean one thing. If you want the best Husmanskost in Stockholm well now you know we’re

Lunch - lots of options all of which look 10/10. Tried the sirloin which was perfect. Unique, well preserved historic interior. Old Swedish people love this place - you can tell it has a lot of regulars 👍

It was one of my favorite restaurants in Stockholm… it WAS ! The smallest piece of meat I have ever seen for over 400kr. I needed to pay for taking care of my jacket even I don’t had a jacket. And the cherry on this cake was a food poisoning … No recommendation ! I know how hard it is to have a restaurant… but guys honestly, this is the wrong way !

Had my first Sweedish meatballs. Very delicious and a nice place. Just don’t understand why you need to pay for storing your jacket.

Sehr leckeres, qualitativ überaus hochwertiges, essen. Kleine Karte mit traditionellen schwedischen Gerichten. Sehr gute Weinkarte. Sehr netter und kompetenter Service. Atmosphäre gemütlich, dennoch angenehm nobel. Achtung, der Garderobenservice ist nicht kostenfrei (5€) Dennoch alles in allem ein sehr gelungener Abend.

We were greatly surprised by this ancient looking place. They offer a different specialty dish every day for lunch. If you're a foreigner wanting to try the most traditional swedish food, this is the right place.

One of the best restaurants in Stockholm for classic Swedish cuisine. Been here many times, and it’s always a special treat.

Very nice place to eat. I had the meat balls and would recommend. The portion sizes are perfect (as in not small). I didn’t eat in the main restaurant but the bar area - it was a little flat due to no music but it was good with two kids.

Restaurant serving traditional Swedish food in an old fashioned environment, somehow picturesque. Different types of herrings platter was a very good choice to share among 3-4 people even if it is recommended for 2, it’s very abundant. Arctic char was way too salty I could barely finish it. Cheesecake with gooseberry and bitter almond was a beautiful surprise, something that you cannot find anywhere else than Sweden for sure.

Legit Swedish food, served with just the right amount of attitude 😁 Some real gems in the wine list too.

This is a good restaurant further up from the center town. Preferably you would make a reservation for dinner hours because we barely found a table. I had the meatballs in the photo which are typically Swedish ! the waiters were very nice. Prices are ok for Sweden but not cheap overall ! Anyways, it is worth every penny!

Such a fun meal of Swedish food! We had the herring and I had a salmon dill dish that was superb. Casual setting which was nice after a day of travel.

Good traditional food. Interior is like and old classy dinning room but visibly worn out. Sitting outside during the summer would be much nicer, but it’s very popular and difficult to get a table.

1st one of the rare places that has "Halal" meatballs (as is non-pork), 100% veal 😍. So was lovely to finally try Swedish meatballs dish. Apple juice was nice. Herring starter was also tasty. Anything we asked was done (keeping food warm for a friend who left temporarily, extra bread for the saucy dish, they even served more mash when he came back) We had to find our own seating outside though which can be convenient for some people.

Fantastic casual neighborhood spot that's been serving classic Swedish cuisine since, what, 1867 or so? That's over a hundred and fifty years, man! Know what else happened in 1867? America freaking bought Alaska from Russia. This restaurant is older than Alaska! Wrap your brain around that for a second! Then think about how freaking delicious dill is. And potatoes. And then maybe it make sense. Listen. A restaurant doesn't last as long as Seward's Folly without a reason. The food is hearty and delicious. The cocktails lean towards the sophisticatedly unpretentious; they'll happily pour a local lager or a Paper Plane for you. Either choice is a good one. Some might call this place a gastropub. Maybe they'd be right. Or maybe it's just a pub that's hung around for over a hundred and fifty years built on good food, good drinks, and good times.
