We visit this restaurant every time we are in Stockholm. It has the best Smorgasbord in Stockholm

I had a great smorgasbord dinner at the Verandan. The food was delicious and bountiful, and gave me a great perspective on Swedish cuisine. The friendly waiter guided me through the eating experience, making sure that I added for right sauces to the dishes. Sadly, the smorgasbord at the Grand Hotel is only one of two left in Stockholm.

The buffet is only available on weekend. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. I was given a “tour” for the food area, with advices on what I must try as the most tradition Swedish bread and cheese. For the herring dishes, they offer a lot of varieties. Also got suggestions of what would be the most acceptable by people who are not used to the smell of herrings Food is great and delicate. Even though they look simple but the taste and quality is so good. The view is great. Big windows beside the river, seeing the sky and palace. Really enjoyed this dining experience

Excellent place to discover the smorgasbord. Multiple varieties of herrings with tasty hot potatoes, salmon gravlax, traditional meatballs and other dishes. A great experience!

One of best branches in Stockholm. Buffet or classic dishes on a menue - very classy and neat!

Dined here together with my family who were visiting from Australia after 20 years. They were staying at the Grand hotel for the week and invited us for dinner at the Veranda. Such a beautiful view over the water and onto the Royal Palace. Excellent service. It’s a bit tight for space but the staff manages to politely maneuver themselves between the tables. The wine list is filled with numerous selections from across Europe and new world wines as well. In our group of four, we were a pescatarian, a vegan, a hearty red meat enthusiast and an omnivore - and the menu had something for all of us. The food was divine - all three courses. A very memorable evening for all of us.

We came today and were thoroughly disappointed. The service was so rude, ignoring us for long periods of time as if we were not paying the exorbitant pricing as well as the people next to us. The gentleman serving us treated us if we were some second class citizens, and couldn’t be bothered clearing our plates until comically late. It was if our young money was not worth having.

The quality of the staff is very high and pleasant but that quality isn't reflected on the food. The variety presented was low for what you are paying for and some of the options were not cooked properly. The cooked section was tough and often dry while not being as flavorful. The open service area was lacking and overall not that appealing for the price paid. A major issue would be the cloudberry dessert has the same ice cream that is given out at the buffet presenting almost nothing new to the order and was honestly something I regret ordering.

I went on a Monday night and has the smorgasbord. Food was excellent, with both fish dishes and cold meats on offer. Decor was nice and the waiter was attentive. Good wine menu and a nice view over water out the front. Just not that busy on a Monday.

Grand Hotel has for some 150 years been a landmark of excellent service and food in Stockholm. It was a must for me for personal reasons to visit the Veranda restaurant. I was not disappointed. From the first moment as the doorman opened the door of our taxi until he wished us welcome back the service was warmly welcoming and very professional. We ordered a 3 course meal with a set package of wines. The food was excellent and the wines chosen with skill to match the rawmaterials of our courses. Rafael, and the rest of the staff who served us, needs to be thanked especially.

I suddenly today remembered eating lunch at the Restaurant Verandan a few years ago, I must preface that I went there in memory of my dear friend Thomas. Thomas was born and lived in Stockholm for many years. He returned there several times a year and always went for lunch at the Grand Hotel. He once described it to me as culinary heaven. I had never been to Stockholm with him but several months after he passed I was finally in the city for one day. The only thing I insisted on doing was having lunch at the Verandan in his memory. My friend had not exaggerated. Eating lunch at this beautiful cafe is pure joy. From the starched white table cloths and napkins to the courteous and professional staff to the RICH and abundant smorgasbord. Who knew that there were so many amazing kinds of herring and salmon. We gorged ( and felt a bit embarrassed at how much we ate). We don't eat meat, but OMG the selection looked also delicious. And then there were the desserts. Definitely a place to go to in Stockholm. .

Wow, what a delight! My partner and I enjoyed the smorgasbord on a weekday at the veranda. The service was impeccable, even with it technically being a buffet. There was a large variety of fish, shellfish, meat, cheeses and dessert and everything was flavorful. Even the gluten-free crackers were delicious. While there were a few vegetarian options, I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone who does not eat meat or seafood. The experience is a great way to try many different traditional Swedish foods. Props to the extra attentive waiter from South Africa (I’m sorry I forgot his name!). For being located as what was described to us as THE hotel to stay at in Stockholm, we found the price very reasonable. Also, they take cash and card. Would definitely recommend!

So the buffet is only available on weekends but I decided to come in anyway and do the three course meal for lunch. The staff was so kind and answered all questions I had about the food and the area. Shout out to Roland who was my server. Such a kind man and gave me his personal recommendations for drinks and a brief history on red tea which I found very interesting. If I'm ever in Stockholm again I will definitely be returning

Excellent fine dining restaurant with a great view of Stockholm's waterfront. Imaginative food which is as tasty as it looks!

Good food, great risotto! Expensive but not overpriced for a nice white tablecloth dinner. Its better than many of the touristy “Swedish” restaurants in Gamla Stan and nearby in both price and quality .

Great Smorgasbord experience. We're not fancy diners, the restaurant is very classy. The staff could tell it wasn't our usual meal out and were very helpful and accomodating. No snobbyness. They showed us the ropes of the Smorgasbord and what order to take the dishes. The food was superb. Well worth it.

We had a delicious dinner here. The view overlooking the Royal Palace was splendid too. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our meals very much. There was a buffet option but we chose from the a la carte menu. Recommend this as an upmarket, romantic and cosy restaurant.

This is where you go for the smorgasbord. It is well worth the price. They asked me if I had experienced it before, and when I said no, the waiter personally walked me through the space and explained it all to me with several tips. You do small portions in multiple rounds. It is an experience, so savor it!

Great food and views of the castle. Also nice and personal service. A bit pricey but it is one of the most expensive hotels in Stockholm, so it's not too bad for being that.

The Verandan restaurant is conveniently located right by the water, overlooking Gamla Stan and within the luxe Grand hotel. The views are fantastic because you look out over the water. The restaurant has upscale decor and ambience. I ordered the traditional Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingon berries, with gravy sauce. The dish was delicious. The restaurant also has a buffet options which looks pretty cool. Overall, it’s a fabulous place albeit slightly pricey but definitely worth it. The staff is super friendly and great.

Liked the place. Good collection of wine. Staff is friendly too. View of Royal palace is awesome. Eating options are limited though if you don't prefer Reindeer meat or duck.

Great service and tasty food. Had both lunch and breakfast at this restaurant and we were very satisfied. Only during breakfast, it felt like there were too many waitresses.

I had quite a disappointing experience with my group. It is insulting that for 1795 Kr per person, you are met with such low standards and hygiene. Not worth the price for eating in a hotel buffet. The octopus was bland and stale. Most of the seafood tasted as if it had been left out for a long time, including the sushi which had hard, stale rice. I thought I was booking the highly recommended Smorgasbord for much cheaper, although the website is quite hard to navigate. It is hard to justify this high of a price for such low quality food. Dessert was good though, and the waiters were friendly.
