Excellent visit for families. Fantastic models and informative displays. Workshops for building craft ships is large and well stocked. Can have more interactive exhibits, but fun and informative as is.

Amazing collection of model ships, some of them very old. Beautifuly crafted aft part of an 18th century King's yacht knocks you down already at the entrance. Interesting films on permanent show. Unfortunately during my visit the Swedish East India exhibition was closed; hope it's only temporarly. In a distance from the Museum building, at Galärvarvet - in front of the Vasa Museum - is the Maritime Myseum's open air exposition. One can visit several old ships, perfectly preserved: 'Sankt Erik' the icebreaker, the lightship no. 25 'Finngrundet', the minesweeper 'M20', sometimes also other historic ships and boats.

A great place and wonderful museum of the glorious Swedish maritime history beautifully situated by the water with a lovely little cafe where you can enjoy a drink in the sun or some traditional Swedish cinnamon rolls with your coffee. Especially great for kids during school breaks when they have various activities aimed at children

As I'm not a huge fan of a maritime culture, I was a little bored, but still amazed by the model collection of different ships, both war vessels and civil ones. Nice place to check out if you have some free time, but if you are a model geek or just a history enthusiast, it's a must visit. They provide you with a comfy audio guide that has a lot of interesting information to offer. And it's all for free!

Unbelievable! Fantastic models of dozens ships and submarines, from the middle age until presence. And the three ships in the harbor that can be visited are also awesome. The photos shows the engine room of an almost functional marine steam ship that is been restaurated for years.

Great maritime museum. Beautiful collection of models. Very nice cafe on the water

This museum is quite lovely. I like the history of vikings and miniature ships rather than world war 2 histories. The miniature ships are so much in detail including the insides. The cafe is cozy and the surrounding views of the museum is also picturesque

Interesting with lots of large scale models of boats and ships. Nice staff, told us they were opening up a new section in the autumn. Will be definitely going back to see what they have set up

Breathtaking maritime historical collection on display. They provide descriptions and history of the ships in both Swedish and English. Interesting story about development of maritime-navy and trading fleets in Scandinavian from viking to modern times. There is also reading corner for those who wants to learn more or doing some research. It is child-friendly and provide easy access for all. This museum is located nearby the sea with wonderful view of Stockholm.

This is a very underrated museum! It was interesting for both boys, aged 8 and 16, and parents. A very interesting exposition with models of ships, real rasters of old ships, a whole interactive room where everyone could turn a real steering wheel, listen to stories about sea adventures, and imagine themselves in the cabin of a modern ship. It is very rewarding though! Warmly recommended for the whole family!

Fabulous museum focused on maritime history, full of beautifully detailed ship models. Set in a beautiful park on the eastern edge of central Stockholm.

Fantastic models, but I would have liked more stories about them. What happened with GIII's navy, and what was life like for those that served aboard. As it was, the best part part of that section was probably the film about Chapman. The stories about Kryssarklubben and Swedish boatlife on vacations were better. We saw two films about Folkbåtar and Seglarkanoter, and they were good. The exhibition about trade should also have stories. We have had so many sailors in Sweden, and some must be able to talk about how it was. Dad had an uncle who sailed past Cape Horn more than once, and there are several other such relatives. There must be some left who can tell of life aboard. It is a great place for small children, with a nice play room for them. So if you have kids, go and visit. They will find others to play with.

A great museum for all ages. Especially a lot of activities for youngsters, but a lot of interesting things to see and experience for everyone. I will come back again. Friendly staff.

Free entrance. Interesting things to view (both ancient and modern). Children playground, free wardrobe and the possibility to warm your sandwiches. Easy access with public transportation. 1-2 minutes walk to other museums: Technical, Ethnographic or Police Museum.

Did not visit the actual museium part. But the restaurant was barely ok. Small portions slow service and noisy ambience. But one is a bit forgiving for a museum bistro. The playground indoor was wounderfull. For 3-6 year monsters it's perfect (and free ! )

My kids and I love everything about this museum. Don't miss the workshop downstairs where children can design their own boats and other things from the sea!

Good museum, BUT why are they using HOJAB parking service outside. Don´t use their SMS function. It is not working on purpose to give you a parking ticket.

Rather small but interesting. I brought my 2 year old and he loved the ship themed playroom. Great facilities as well. Free entrance.

Walking by the water is so peaceful. Honestly, the outside of the museum is better than the inside. Perfect for picnics in the summer

A bit outside the normal Stockholm museums but we'll worth the trip. Some very cool and unique original items, with an extensive array of model ships and informative exhibits. If you are into Maritime history, this is a must do.
