Not free anymore since our government removed funding for free museum entries. Moderna museet and ArkDes share bulding, but ArkDes is pretty much just two exhibiton rooms. The main room with Swedish architecture is a bit disorganized, the drawers with materials under the models are not matching and belong to other seemingly random buildings so there is not that much information. The temporary exhibition room however was very well made (Tham & Videgård) in the pictures below. I would only recommend it if you are interested in the temporary exhibitons or if you also want to visit Moderna museet at the same time. Or go during friday 18-20 (free entry time)

Interesting place with lots of information about Swedish architecture. When we went there was also a gingerbread house exhibit which was super fun (and smelled delicious). Very good stop for free! Would recommend to others.

Came here with no expectations and absolutely LOVED it! There was a cool exhibition about Swedish architecture- lots of pictures/floor plans of summer houses I would love to visit (or even better own!) and the Gingerbread House Of The Year exhibition was adorable - very fragrant! - and lots of fun.

Lovely place, when I was there, there was a Lee bontecou sculpture and giant Calder mobiles outside. So nice! The architecture side unfortunately is being redone and only open in June 2024 so I might have to make a trip again! Food was really good if expensive. Overall a very good experience. There is a ferry port close by as well so you can jaunt over to the next archipelago quick!

It's closed for renovations until June, 2024. I visited in July, 2023; and have been impressed by the models and temporary exhibition displaying various forms of building methods. It also displays the models of some of the iconic and award winning private and commercial buildings around Sweden. An enriching visit overall. Definitely recommended for the architecture lovers. Shall visit once it's open again.

Came here for the gingerbread house exhibit and definitely was not disappointed. Really fun place to see exhibits and the staff at cafe was really helpful to let me know where everything is at the exhibit floor.

Free of charge. The exhibition is OK, but somewhat dull with all those miniatures without a distinct theme. But the gingerbread house -exhibition in december is super. Café Blom is cozy, but can be very crowded. Same applies the restaurant at the Moderna Museum (and it is not that cozy).

A very interesting take on architectural design and history in Stockholm. This section of the museum doesn't take long to explore. Free admission is a positive.

Perhaps I am easily misslead but being called the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design, I imagined floors of stylish chairs and uber practical storage solutions, nothing of the sort. It's basically a missmash of scale models used to visualize building projects, placed randomly on tables in a hall. You would be far better off visiting your local Ikea, where at least you can get a hot dog.

The Museum Building is nice but the exhibitions didn't convince me. The part I liked the most are the photography's from Cappa and the Swedish photographer. Overall I missed a kind of story telling. The architecture exhibition could be interesting for all architecture students.

We Went for gingerbread-house exhibition this time. Lack of staff, organized system and clear guidelines. we had to stop those in family room, who violated the rules. Unacceptable and awkward moments. Anyways, good customer service though.

The displays were interesting, but it seems more academic than geared to tourists. Lots of reading. but the models were good. The whole place has an air of being only temporary. I think that might be because they're going to renovate soon.

If you love modern and Scandinavian architecture you will certainly love this. I love architecture in general and I think this is the best exhibition I've ever been to. The hall where you look down at the floor is really creative and nicely done, and the maquettes are really detailed with good information and sketches in the drawers. Great value for about 9 bucks.

Super engaging and interesting format of contemplating both the function and the form of architectural design.

Overall a nice place. The free admission allows to a tiny part of the museum which is about architecture. The rest of the building is for contemporary exhibitions but i did not visit them. If you are into architecture i recommend to take a look at the maquettes.

Had a great time here. The kids enjoyed playing in the family area and the workshop they were invited to join. We enjoyed exploring the exhibits too.

Architecture museum. Its an ok visit if you're into architecture but it's missing something to make the experience pop.

Perfect place if you love architectural mockup and also if you have a baby: the playground area is wonderful and it is easy to make new friends. The closed cafeteria makes everything more comfortable even in a rainy day. Suggested in the morning, less chaos and more enjoyable.

This was definitely the surprise of my trip to Stockholm, visited it almost accidentally on my way to the Modern Art Museum, and I ended up spending good hours. The level of detail, well put information and fun facts is top notch, it was truly educative and not one second boring!

It really felt like this place has a vision - I saw a direction in its exhibitions, in its interior, even in its staff. I think this is what a modern museum should be like - an engaging place where spending an entire day or even two won’t seem like a waste of time even if you arrive from far away and have only a few days to explore the city. Great way to spend your time and warm up in winter.

Currently on was a highly detailed exhibition on a famous Swedish architect, in particular his work on cemeteries and monuments. A bit outside my experience, but if this is your field, it strikes me as a must-see. The standard collection of architectural models is worth a quick browse, given free entry and it collocation with Moderna Museet.

Takes at least 2 hours if you like to read and go through each work. Interesting to see developments of style and city planning. Would’ve liked to see inspirations of the architects’ designs as well.

🔹Free entrance. ▪️ Soft kids corner 🔹Cafe with amazing view to water and Stockholm ▪️In one place is actually 2 museum - Arkdes and architecture museum. But another one is small, just 1 big room. 🔹2 hours, maybe 1.30 hour is inaf if you not want to eat. ▪️ Very nice place!

Great exhibitions on Swedish architecture. Especially since it's free, highly recommended to go for a bit and just try it, even if you're not an architecture person.

Really nice collection of architecture models of all historic ages, some quite detailed, to see from all angles. Could be only perfect if they were more explanations of where the buildings were located and some extra history. Next time I'll try the audio guide!
