The service was good & friendly. They were Kind enough to let me move my reservation to another date when I had a family emergency. Check in and out - very friendly. I gave an extra Star for their friendly disposition. The Hotel was disappointing.especially as a BW SIGNATURE. Over priced for the condition of the Hotel. They owners need to invest money to finish projects and upgrade their furniture- looked like something from your grandparents attic. Location was good - but better to stay around the corner in a nicer Hotel.

Sweet Charmer in Old town At the price I paid, I was a bit sceptical about this place until I checked in. But this was a sweet surprise. Built out of a historic building and on the fringe of Gamla stan this is an absolute steal and a hidden gem LOCATION: Located on the island of Gamla stan and easily walkable from all key points of interest DINE + DRINK: Free Coffee and refreshments are available at the lobby level all day long for guests. Ws quite surprised by the Excellent breakfast served at the restaurant. The spread was amazing and had everything from delicious pastries to gourmet Pies. Not the usual boring stuff! And they also accommodated all kinds of dietary preferences, including Vegan! ROOM: I stayed in Room 507, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Random view of the building next door; SIZE: Very compact room, but good enough for 2 adults; AIR-CON: No Air conditioner, and can get pretty warm on hot days; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality cosmetics FACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines, which is a super rarity in the old town. SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made me feel at home and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Low-speed Wi-Fi(up to 10 Mbps) that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages

First what was great....the breakfast was excellent and front reception was nice when we arrived. The rooms were TINY. We did NOT book a budget room, we booked a double and it was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. I am a seasoned traveler and stayed in many cities in the US and Europe but was disappointed with the rooms here. The bathroom was also very small and as hard as I tried to be careful, water sprayed outside the shower. We asked the front desk for a better room but were told that we paid for a double and that was what we paid for. There was no closet to put our clothes, just a couple of hangers behind the bathroom door. There were no drawers or dresser either. There was a coffee maker in the room, but no counter to put it on. We had a nice stay in Stockholm, but wished for a nicer hotel.

Simply perfect. Guys are the best. Atmosphere, staff, breakfast, reception (with apples, tea and coffee with cookies most of the day), and especially location - everything is at the top level at the reasonable price.

DO NOT STAY - HOTEL REMODELING LOTS OF NOISE. We booked based on good ratings, received great welcome from the friendly staff and today i had to send this to the hotel customer service email. I am currently staying at your Hotel Gamla Stan, BW Signature Collection in Stockholm. Since this morning we are experiencing this disturbing exceedingly annoying noise. I asked when I got back this afternoon and was told the hotel is replacing the rooms windows. We experienced banging and what is sounds like grinding this morning and now around 3:45 pm again. I called the reception and was told the noise will continue for at least another hour. We were not notified the hotel was going to be remodeling while guest staying, I booked this hotel for the good ratings and did not expected to be disturbed. This is totally unacceptable and will let everyone else know not to stay at this property. I stayed over 60 days the last 6 months at hotels and never ever experience this situation. If you decide to remodel, you should close your property for the necessary length of time. I expect to hear from your company as no one here, no supervisor even contact us to apologize. Second day disturbing noise started at 8:15am still not a call from management to acknowledge my complaint to the staff about the situation. Just got back at 3pm, still disturbing! No word from the hotel mgmt! Embarrassing

Perfectly situated in the Old Town, a hotel with much character. Breakfast offered a wide variety, catering to all needs and the service was friendly and knowledgeable, recommending local restaurants around the area. This hotel is my preferred local should I be fortunate enough to visit Stockholm again.

4 star is a joke!!! Tiny hot room, no air-conditioning, just an electric fan that swirled the hot air around. At night had to close windows because of noise from across the street, the room was then like an oven. Can't say it was spotlessly clean either. Staff were pleasant.

Very nice cozy old historical hotel in a beautiful historical neighborhood. Easy to explore the historical Gamla Stan neighborhood on your feet, easy to get to Fotografiska museum. Rooms are very clean, cozy, but not big. Every room has an electric kettle that saved us on snowy cold days. Breakfast is incredibly amazing! Richest variety of the most tasty food ever seen in hotel, and I've traveled a lot. Gluten free and vegetarian options. want to thank kitchen manager Lily and her fantastic team!

A charming hotel with excellent service and amenities, as well as a great location. We traveled to Stockholm via the Viking Ferry, and wanted a cozy hotel in Old Town. Hotel Gamla Stan turned out to be a hidden treasure, and was much better than we expected. Location: It is a 30m walk from the ferry terminal, much shorter by bus, as there is a bus stop just in front of the hotel. Rental scooters are in abundance. For those wanting to take charter/tour ferries, those moorings are also just across and down the street. The metro station is only a 5-10 minute walk away as well. The location in Old Town was excellent, with bakeries, grocery stores, and restaurants nearby. Nearby is the Royal Palace, along with several museums and churches/cathedrals. Amenities: this is an old building renovated into a boutique hotel. As such, it was a delight to explore, with narrow passageways, nooks and crannies, intriguing decorations and clever architecture needed to connect three old buildings into one...if you're bored with the look of modern hotels, this place is perfect. All public and private spaces were clean and in good condition. Our corner room had a harbor/sea view, large windows, and very comfortable king-sized bed. With the windows open, we could hear the street life below, and enjoy the fresh breeze from the harbor (the room was quiet with the windows closed). The provided robes and slippers were a nice touch. The breakfast was superb, with a large variety of local and continental options, including meats, cheeses, cereals, fruits, yogurts, crepes, and amazing bread. The breakfast is served in a renovated daylight cellar with openings to the street, which was a really nice experience. Wifi was fast and worked without any problems. Normally hotel rooms are pretty bland/similar, but we (ok, my wife) were impressed with how well our room was decorated; the artwork, wall colors, drapes, furniture and carpet all worked seamlessly together to create a pleasing atmosphere. Service: The staff was extremely helpful, assisting us with flexible check-in/check-out times, and provided useful tips on the area and local travel options. Summary: The rooms were very affordable, especially considering the location, and we feel we got amazing value for our stay. We will happily stay here again in the future.

This is very good choice if you're in the area to explore nearby very old attractions of Stockholm. It's less than 10 blocks away from the royal palace (I believe It's one of several palaces where the royals stay and go). I slept well here. Our room is by the back, the windows open to an alley where people pass by. The reception staff were very helpful and attentive. You can ask most everything from them about the attractions in the area. I also liked the breakfast meals here.

Stayed for a long time as in 2+ months since moving during a pandemic, administrative processes are soo slooow. So after some initial few weeks, liking the stay (rooms are a decent size, with nice bathrooms (good showers, clean). The location is pretty much unbeatable since you can get everywhere quickly be it ferry or tunnelbahnen ... and the breakfast buffet is enjoyed every day too! The personal is helpful, which as a foreigner I am grateful for ... I can honestly say that I will put friends/family up in this hotel when they do visit Stockholm.

Globally disappointing experience. I expected better. I stayed there two nights in March 2019 and remember it as a small pleasure turned which I regretted. The reception was professional but cold, the place was well located but had no charm. The receptionist led me to the bedroom but that looked like a labyrinth. I did NOT get the room with the photos I had seen on booking.com. Mine was laughably small, and many details were wrong. I'm sure they had not even tested their own rooms. Poor price/quality ratio.

Good location, very nice and polite people, nice breakfast. The room does not have a mini bar though. And TV channels didn't include any packages. The hotel is very near by to numerous beautiful attractions in stockholm. I enjoyed my stay.

Coming from Finland on a stupid o'clock overnight ship, you get into Stockholm quite early. Most hotels will check your luggage and send you on your merry way until check in time, which is about 7 hours; two of those hours in a city that isn't open. But our awesome and friendly receptionist checked us in straight away, into a cool long room for our two night stay. Breakfast is a lovely little basement affair that's brightly lit and has a cosy homely feel. Reception, entry and all public areas are beautiful and homely with friendly smiles and waves from staff as you pass by. Thank you Hotel Gamla Stan for the soft bed, massive room, professional friendly and fast service!

My son and I visited Sweden for his 18th birthday and stayed here for three nights. What a wonderful place to stay - perfectly located, beautifully clean, and - my goodness - what a breakfast! If for no other reason, stay for the breakfast. The staff are lovely, as well. We will definitely stay here again when we return.

Pros: The location was great, the place is very close to the sea and many nice restaurants, stores, beautiful streets and buildings, etc. Everything in the room was very clean. But the breakfast was definitely the best of the experience, it was a 10 out of 10, everything was super tasty and fresh and just on point. Cons: The room we got was on the first floor, with a very low ceiling at the entrance, so i had to be very careful not to hit my head everytime (and I'm a very short guy). The room was right next to an alley, so at night, we could hear all the drunk people walking through the alley, laughing, yelling and just being annoying and unnecessarily loud. I would wake up several times during the night thinking that someone had broken into the room, because the alley is so close to the room that u could hear people's voices right in ur ear. And last but not least, the shower didn't have a door, which i absolutely hate (but that might just be my latino brain, which can't get itself to comprehend why europeans hate shower doors so much).

This hotel is presently under construction. I was placed in a roasting hot attic room where the ceiling was too low to even stand up straight in most of it. The staff was not particularly friendly. They offered to show me another room, but I had already booked elsewhere.

Sauber, sehr nettes Personal, sehr gutes umfangreiches Frühstücksbuffet. Empfehlenswert.

Very nice hotel at excellent location. Its just few minutes walk from most of attractions like king’s castle. Breakfast was perfect and as a cherry on the top they had even rice porridge and glögg which are both great if you visit during december :)

Horrible hotel. Placed in a terrible, musty room. When tried to open the window, got a breathful of dust as there was a plastic covering over the window. When I asked to change rooms, she put me in the attic in a room in which I could barely stand, but was incredibly rude in doing so. Was told I could email the manager and get some money back. I did so a couple of months later, but was told because a few months had passed, she was no longer able to issue a refund. I was never aware there was a time stamp on a refund for poor service and terrible rooms. By far the worst hotel I stayed in in Sweden. Would NOT recommend. Rudest staff was the cherry on top. AVOID!

Exceptionally affable staff, great location. The gym is well equipped and is located in a cute basement room. Great selection at breakfast too. Ebba, Maia, Rosanna, Jennifer, Nadia, Hilda, and my room attendant Valentina were very welcoming and made my stay in Stockholm a very memorable. Thank you!

The hotel is decent, but I would not hold its 4 stars status. In my opinion, too pricey for what it offers, compared to other hotels. The bathroom is quite small and the shower water can spray on the carpet. Very good location and breakfast. However, beware that breakfast is served from 8.00 to 11.00 during the weekend, and from 7.00 to 10.00 during week days. The area can get noisy on occasions because of party people hanging around (during the weekend).

Customer service was bad. Satff did’nt even bother their selfs to say bye when we checked out only said ”its ok”. Didn’t ask anything or say bye… And overall didnt feel welcomed at all. Air conditioning didn’t work. Air in the rooms was bad.

Fun and cute hotel in a old fashioned design with a friendly and helpful staff. The room was okay but not super clean. Especially the bathroom could have used a bit of extra cleaning. The shower drain were clogged, but we told the reception, and in the afternoon when we got back to the hotel, it was fixed. The beds are comfortable but we woke up at 6 because of outside noices, and it's also pretty easy to hear what's going on around the hotel. There is free wifi, but it wasn't really much to cheer for. The best thing about the hotel is definitely the location! The breakfast were great! A huge variety of food suited for different diets and allergies.

  • 5/5 Mikhail F. 1 year ago on Google
Great breakfast menu! Panna cotta is particularly good! Convenient location of the hotel. Rooms didn't have conditioners but that would only be a problem in the summer. I've stayed at this hotel in the winter therefore it was unimportant.

Beautiful hotel. Staff is fantastic. This is definitely not a typical "hotel". Feels very much like a boutique hotel experience. Room was perfect with private full bathroom. The bed is perfect, it is firm but soft. I did not toss and turn. If visiting from The United States, the sockets are not flush but are round and recessed.

  • 5/5 Matt 1 year ago on Google
Pro: Great location Good price Very friendly service (even allowed us to check in much earlier than allowed on Xmas eve) Clean No off-putting smells Nice breakfast Bed was comfortable. Not too firm, not too soft. Con: Walls/windows allow quite a bit of street sound to come in.

Best location for strolling around the city, either on foot or with public transport. Very friendly personnel. The room was large and very clean. The breakfast was great (I loved the smoothies, actually miss them now that I am gone). Totally recommend it.

Up top in the smallest room. Travel agent said they had a bar and restaurant but there is neither. Old timey decorations. Very shabby for the hefty price.

Spacious room and delicious breakfast! We had a beautiful view of the sea, although it was at times loud late at night with noise from the bars across the street.

Clean, fairly basic and well situated for the old part of the city. Drawback was the WiFi -an unsecured Open Network so with some devices we struggled to connect …

  • 5/5 Marc P. 4 years ago on Google
Doesn't look like it from the outside, but it's actually very cozy. Staff is super nice (like everywhere in Sweden) Breakfast is not huge but good quality. The rooms are all different, and from what I can tell all pretty nice. Mine was spacious and cozy, with a comfortable bed and a new bathroom. I'll definitely come again.
