Marvellous stay at a beautiful hotel! Alice and Axel from the front desk were incredible and made our stay very special. The rooms are very pretty and let the historic building shine through. The breakfast was delicious and has everything you could want or need. The location is very central. We found it super easy to navigate everywhere we needed to go from the hotel. We also tried the restaurant and bar downstairs which were very nice as well. If I’m in Stockholm again I’ll be returning here!

Very nice Hotel in Stockholm. Easy to reach and with a central place for Sightseeing-Activities. Breakfast is very good and has a variety of different choices and more then enough in terms of quantity. Remarkable is that even being very central there was close to no noice heard from outside in the rooms.

The hotel room that we have facing the same direction as hotel entrance was bright, good size and comfortable. I was happy about the room until 11pm. The music from the nightclub near the front of hotel was so loud that even earplugs were not able to block out noise. The loud music continued until 5am all 3 nights that we were there. I should have read the 20+ reviews with similar noise complaints.

Very nice hotel! I will say that I had pretty high expectations when booking. I will call out that I think I noted that I was hoping to get a room that was away from the noise that I read about in reviews, so this may have played a factor - I was pretty disappointed by our room after all the pictures I had seen online. I know every room is different, but this one just seemed sad and lifeless. It was clean and somewhat spacious which was appreciated, but it just fell short of what I was hoping for. The showers are only half enclosed as well so the water just gets all over the floor. There was also a large structural pole in the middle of the room blocking the view of the TV. Didn't have any issues with noise except for guests in the hallways late at night. I would stay here again - just maybe will hope to get more of a wow-room!

Worst hotel I stayed at in Stockholm. Room towards the inner yard and playing music until late. Nosy hallway. Nosy if you stay in a room towards the traffic. The elevator smells like fish. No iron or iron board in the room. Cold light in the sealing. No body lotion. Old hairdryer. Expected more. Totally overrated. Staff is kind of nice. Too soft beds. Won’t stay again.

Hotel Kung Carl and management are mistreating and exploiting the immigrant employees. They offer low salaries, long and unreasonable hours and shifts, under the constant threat of being let go, because they hire desperate people. If you have ever worked in any shift-based job, boycott them. Take a moment and ask the staff to tell you about their work conditions (when the Swedish managers are not watching). You'll hear Heart breaking stories.

Very nice staff and the interiors with this inner yard that has been converted into a restaurant area gives it a very special charm. The hotel room was the BUT for me though. My room (206) had some steps right behind the entrance door that led into a quite narrow space that then left room for only the bed. The radiator was controlled by a display thermostat at the entrance but it seemed impossible to get more like a handwarm feeling out of it which left the room quite cold. From above my room in front of the window water was constantly dripping down. In combination with the metal windows sill that I heard drumming noises for the whole night.

Nice hotel in an older, classy style. We really enjoyed our stay here. The front desk was particularly friendly and helpful. Breakfast starts a little late at 8 am. The only thing wrong with our room was the shower which was functional but annoying to use.

"We are the brunch which was delicious and fresh . The juice and alcohol free options were great. We really enjoy it. The service was fantastic, specially for Alba that is kind, polite, always attentive and does a wonderful service. Our Sunday celebrating Swedish Fathers Day was perfect.

I've been traveling a lot to Stockholm the last year and have stayed at least 5 times now at Kung Carl. I really like their concept for the rooms (every room is different), helps a lot with the monotony of business trips. They have a great location in Östermalm and there are great restaurants and shops around, there is a subway station very close connecting to the old city and the main train station. Most importantly, their staff has always been friendly and very helpful, from checking in, to reccomending places around. It became my go-to hotel very early and I can recommend it.

Super lovely hotel. The rooms are beautiful as are the communal spaces. Good value. We stayed in a superior double room which was wonderful. It can be a little loud outside but we were up higher so it wasn’t a problem. Breakfast is a little chaotic but there’s a good selection.

All staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and the rooms (I was part of a large group so saw inside several different rooms) are all were all clean and well presented. The whole hotel is fabulous and has such character. The bar areas are very pleasant to sit in and the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city. I will definitely stay there again the next time I visit Stockholm.

Design of common areas and rooms have a unique style. Breakfast and staff was very good. Hotel is situated right in the middle of Stockholm nightlife area, so be aware of this when doing your booking. I assume it gets quite loud at weekends.

Not only is hotel beautiful but the staff are super friendly. We went in a large group and they could do enough to help us. Everyone’s is super friendly, the food was delicious. The rooms are perfect and comfortable. The hotel made for a brilliant weekend in Stockholm.

Finding earplugs in your room seldom is a good omen. The hotel is situated in the middle of Stockholm’s party district, also with a busy bar on the ground floor. If you have to stay here get a room on the top floor, away from the mayhem. Still that will not save you from hearing every sound from neighbouring rooms! Our room “for one or two people” was…tiny. Rarely stayed in a smaller one. Stay here at your own risk.

It's historical building, so the rooms narrow, service is good, very crowded in Summer, the location amazing in center of Stockholm, the isolation of window not good so the sounds of street in your room till the morning, funny when you enter your room there is puppies waiting you

As previously mentioned, the night club makes it very difficult to sleep. Can hear the music and people yelling well into the 4am hour. The biggest complaint was the extremely slow and unreliable WiFi service. Would sometimes work, sometimes not. My room had very little coverage and would randomly kick me off after 5 minutes or so. Elsewhere in the hotel was hit and miss. The hotel and room was very well decorated. Very cool designs and furniture. Also very clean. Aside from the two issues I mentioned, the hotel was very nice to stay at.

Really nice and well located hotel. Really clean place. I use to stay here for my business trips. Each time it was really nice, efficient with a nice staff. Rooms are reasonnable size, same as bathrooms and really clean. Never tried the restaurant and bar yet.

Beautiful and clean rooms. The breakfast spread had tons of options, something for all diets. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Located close to lots of shopping and activities. Some people mentioned dance club noise. Stayed one two different Saturdays, never had a problem with noise, might be dependent on location of room? One of my stays the room had complimentary ear plugs, didn’t need them.

Absolutely the best hotel in Stockholm! The two Alice’s are a double whammy, delivering the goods 100% of the time. Can’t recommend this place enough so accommodating, so kind so clean such a wonderful place to be in arrive to.

One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The room size is very small. The bathroom is a joke, had to step up a huge step into the bathroom, the toilet is in the corner of the bathroom and you can’t sit in it properly as there is no room. So we had to sit on it side ways. The bathroom had a smell. A hotel that has ear plugs in the room is a huge red flag!! The music from the bar was so loud, I don’t understand why they have it so loud and speaker on the street so the whole street can hear it. The bed frame is bigger than the mattress so your pillows disappear when sleeping The breakfast is a joke, the bacon all tangled together the coffee super strong one day and not the next so no consistency, I don’t like to share a table with people I don’t t know because there is not enough seating. The pastries were old. The lift is not big enough to have all your luggage in.

Great place to stay in the heart of Stockholm. There’s a nightclub close by, so if you’re a sensitive sleeper, it might be a bit difficult. They provide earplugs though as default, so they are aware of the sound proofing. For me it wasn’t an issue to sleep even without earplugs.

Really lovely building, the decoration is amazing. However to get to the elevator to go to your room you have to go through the bar, which is a bit uncomfortable when you have been walking around as a tourist the whole day and is full of fancy people.

Beautiful, elegant hotel, very kind staff. Rich breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms. Center location. Soundproofing is good!

The worst treatment and food ever i was very disappointed it takes long time to food be ready and everyone is eating from the buffet even the team worker i saw them in my eyes they past from the buffet and they eat directly from the plates and they are working From my own perspective i see this super Disgusting and can not be possible in a hotel or restaurant in the middle of the city special in Östermalm And even the boos because i went there with my friend who knows her there she is so annoying she tried to be funny but unfortunately she is not I will never go there again Basically they don't deserve the money you pay there!!.

Once Hotel Kung Carl - always Hotel Kung Carl. My second stay in Stockholm and my second stay in this hotel. Perfect location, super friendly staff, nice interiors, great breakfast - maybe the best hotel I've ever stayed!

Lovely room, very clean and comfortable, good insulation. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices! Also in the centre, close to the pier and many restaurants and cafes.

Location, decorations, staff and personal were really good I wasn't happy with room, they missed elementary details fir room, for example for off lamp you have to go nearvdoor or nearest el plug till bed is 3 meters... In trip with fatigue, those are important things Brekfast was really good.

Was here for a business trip, the staff was highly accommodating, fun bar with great drinks, and a great breakfast spread. The hotel's elevator traffic in the morning can get busy, which is quite funny. Great stay - recommended.

We stayed here during a heat wave, August 13-20, 2022. The room was really hot and stuffy. We asked the front desk about air conditioning, it didn’t seem to be working. They sent housekeeping to show us how to use it. Housekeeping could not figure it out. So the front desk person went to our room. They couldn’t figure it out either. So they submitted a maintenance ticket. Apparently air conditioning, if it exists, requires expert help to use. We asked a few times over the first three days, but never heard anything more about it. We asked about switching to a different room, which did not have full sun exposure in the afternoon. They said they were full at the time, but they would take a note of our request. We asked a few more times during the first three days, and each time it was “we’ll check later and let you know”. They never let us know. As noted in other reviews, there is a very popular nightlife scene nearby. That may be appealing for some, but if you are opening your window in order to get some relief from the heat at night, the noise (until 5am, bar closing time) is not nice. We stayed in a “superior room”. The room itself was ok, but there were not many horizontal surfaces in the bedroom area. The decor is eclectic, if I am being generous. There was a big picture of a strangely unpleasant royal guy on the wall. Lastly, I was double charged for the stay. The room was prepaid by my company’s travel agency, but my card was charged also. The hotel has agreed to refund the extra charges, but they want a bank account #. I asked if they could just reverse the charge on the credit card. They are not sure. That requires expert research also …

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the fantastic city of Stockholm. We had such an enjoyable stay. Lovely, clean and quiet room. The hotel staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. Bar and restaurant areas are very stylish. The jazz club was lots of fun. Thank you so much. We will definitely be back!

I completely missed the information that the hotel has a few night bars around it, meaning impossible to sleep even with earplugs. Breakfast OK but finishes far too early. Our room was nice and comfortable on the 2nd floor.

  • 4/5 Tapti S. 1 year ago on Google
Our room was not ready on time. There is AC but not effective so be wary of that if booking in summer. Staff however was polite and tried to help. The hotel itself is beautiful but only recommend if you want that old world experience. Else a modern hotel may be a better fit. The breakfast spread was good.

Hotel has a certain faded charm but sadly that doesn’t make up for its shortcomings. The room was lacking basic facilities such as adequate storage. There was no safe or fridge and though the shower cubicle was huge the shower head was tiny. I thought it worrying that ear plugs were provided but soon discovered why. There is a nightclub across the street pumping out loud music until the small hours together with drunk and noisy revellers. That is surely something that needs addressing urgently. This would have been a one star review had it not been for the food which was pretty good.

Very stylish Hotel in the center of Stockholm (which can lead to noisy nights on the weekends). The staff is warm-hearted and friendly, the rooms are beautiful and big. Unfortunately the breakfast buffet was very crowded and the coffee was just mediocre filter coffee.

Good quality hotel with nice beds and a mini fridge, a water heater for tea, and a restaurant downstairs. I really l liked the rooms and the building, which is very big and spacious, making it easy to get around. But the service is not the best.

Very nice hotel with plenty of character. Better facilities than other 4 star hotels I stayed at in stockholm. Only complaints are that they don't have a sauna and there is a smell throughout that is quite unpleasant.

  • 5/5 Björn A. 2 years ago on Google
Unique hotel in Stockholm, definitely my favorite place. Great staff and wonderful setting. If you have the possibility to stay there you will have a great experience.

  • 4/5 Elizabeth D. 11 months ago on Google
This is a good hotel in an excellent location. Can be noisy at night especially at the weekend because the windows are all single glazed presumably due to the age of the building. The room was nice and spacious and the service in the bars was mostly good. My only gripe was breakfast which was just chaos. There aren't enough tables for all the guests and because it's self service you have to go hunting for cutlery, plates, napkins and cups. Tables should be set as a minimum I think! I haven't ever stayed in a hotel where this hasn't been the case. Items often ran out and were not replenished quickly enough. The problem is that most cafes don't seem to open until late morning so there's no other option unless you get up very early or you get something from the corner shop. The breakfast area is too cramped and noisy and it was not a pleasant experience. It let down what was otherwise a lovely stay.
