Café Koya

Restaurant Cafe Cafeteria Bubble tea store

😐 Ghibli-themed, Japanese-inspired café. Knowledgeable staff when it comes to tea. Arrived right when the café opened, and there were limited cakes and pastry choices. Table was stained even though we were the first customers. Tried the two cakes available - matcha cheesecake and yuzu cheesecake. Gene... Ghibli-themed, Japanese-inspired café. Knowledgeable staff when it comes to tea. Arrived right when the café opened, and there were limited cakes and pastry choices. Table was stained even though we were the first customers. Tried the two cakes available - matcha cheesecake and yuzu cheesecake. General impression was that the options paraded on their website looked much better than what was in the shop. Left feeling a wee bit misled, good tea though.

Complicated, The bubble tea was actually not good and not cold, it's almost tasteless. The matcha layer cake was good, not to sweet and you can taste the match, but the size is too huge to have it alone. Chocolate layer cake was also good. Not many sitting place and it feels part of the sitting place is the house? Cute Totoro decorations,

Love this lovely place. Owner is so friendly and fluent Japanese speaker which made me surprise. Of course Japanese cakes was extremely tasty. Worthy to try Japanese cake. I really liked your coffee! I will come back soon with my friends. ありがとございました。

The Japanese cheesecake was nice but overall i feel the cafe was a little overhyped. It has a great concept but it was dirty😅

On my last visit, I had a sakura cheesecake and matcha latte which tasted good! The atmosphere is cozy in general and fun to be around if you're into anime, board games, and Japanese pastries. Also, the cafe has cute Totoro decorations (from the movie "My neighbor Totoro" directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli). Furthermore, from time to time the cafe arranges small workshops. For example, one workshop was origami (paper folding to create various objects). I've visited this cafe at three different times, and the time of the day and whether it is a weekday or weekend affects how crowded it is since the place is small. In general, I would recommend going on a weekday, preferably, Monday to Thursday since Stockholm is crowded during weekends. I would recommend going with a small group maximum of 3-4 people since finding spots is not guaranteed. On the other hand, the toilet is very small and not fresh. To clean it more often and maybe give it a makeover would be something. Finally, I hope that this cafe would consider changing the opening hours to later evenings as at 7:00 pm (at least try for a period) since it closes at 5:30 pm today which is office hours in Sweden.

Decent small coffee shop, with some impressive desserts. The multi-layered matcha cake is a highlight. Worthy of a try, especially if you are not a fan of sugary desserts. The taste is bitter, like matcha, and not so sweet. Probably my favourite matcha cake compared to all places I’ve been to. The ambience of the café is a bit noisy, and it is very very cramped. There are lots of people standing waiting to grab a seat. We luckily got a place by the window bar, yet there was also place for 2-3 people. Another negative was the time it took to get our order prepared. We just ordered a cake and a milk tea, and we got our serving almost 30 min later. There was only one person working, and it was obvious they had tough time dealing with the amount of visitors and orders. Finally, the toilet facility. The smallest toilet room I have ever seen. Roughly enough space to turn yourself around between the water sink and the toilet seat, and the door was not locking. The premise is good, trying to offer a japanese themed experience. However, the facilities and reality leaves a lot of room for major improvements..

The best bubble tea in Stockholm! I am truly in love with this place. I had messy strawberry with oat milk and it is over the top DELICIOUS! Wish they had more vegan options in desserts section.

I try to be honest and not very harsh but here's my opinion: Food:The most tastless cheesecake I've ever had. Service: the lady could at least say hi or at least give a smile, Atmosphere is normal and not to mentioned they're over charging. 285SEK for 2 cheesecakes of that quality and a cappuccino.

Japanese café with a cool wib. The Matcha cake was alright but did not meet expectations - it was to cold and had too much whipped cream. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

Just to be clear, I am no connoisseur of bubble tea or matcha but I have been at Café Koya a few times and have every time been positively surprised by the drinks and cakes. Ordering is most of the times a guessing game (some explanation on the menu would be really appreciated) but everything I have tasted was prepared with attention to detail and very tasty. Worth a visit, even if Japanese inspired drinks and cakes are not really your cup of tea (pun intended).

Overhyped and very expensive. The matcha millefeuille didn't taste so fresh. Would have appreciated some description of the drinks in the menu.

It’s not often to see the Japanese style coffee shop in Stockholm~ and it’s quite nice and cozy!!! The mocha layer cake is good! But the chesse floam tea doesn’t have enough flavor, hope it can be more creamy

Cute place, cheesecake was good. Drinks unfortunably not very nice. The boba was not the ideal texture. They used dark syrup instead of brown sugar syrup which made the boba taste almost like licorice. The milk tea was lacking creamyness and taste. Overall disappointed.

Matcha latte was good. The cheesecake was dry and it cost 65kr. A bit expensive. And they don’t sell lunch anymore.

Tastes even better then it looks like 😍😍. The layer cake is so pretty! I had the chocolate one. The hot matcha latte tastes like the original ✅. All my friends loved it, too!

Japanese Ghibli-themed cafe in Stockholm. I ordered matcha mille crepes and it was so delicious. But my taro milk tea was a bit tasteless and less sugar. I don’t think they asked our sugar preference when ordered. So I think that’s their standard.

Tried CAFÉ KOYA コヤカフェtoday with friend 🍵 I heard people saying that this shop has great Matcha Layer 🍰 . So I ordered it and it is actually pretty nice indeed. The biggest complement we Asian can give desserts is “not too sweet”, and this is my comment for this cake. The matcha flavor is not so strong though, other than that it is nice. I also ordered the Creamchy Jasmine🧋and it is not that good. The cheese foam tastes a bit fake and powder-ish. It’s a cute store😬 Love the menu joke. The neighborhood is also very cozy and nice 👀 try it if you want some Japanese desserts 🍨

If you're a fan of Totoro and great tea, you absolutely have to check out this cafe! The atmosphere is adorable and cozy, with Totoro decor everywhere you look. Tea was ok but coffee and cake was delicious

I ordered matcha bubbles. But the taste was not sweet. Too much ice. And I could not taste the matcha, milk and sugar. The taste was like water +ice + a pinch of matcha.

So apparently it has changed to a tea cafe. I used to really like their food so it’s a shame. Anyway I ordered the bubble tea in taro flavour. The milk tea itself was good, wasn’t chunky and had flavour. The bubbles however were tasteless, no brown sugar or anything, just plain. So next time I will only order taro milk without bubbles.
