A reasonably nice hotel but not outstanding. It feels a little old fashioned in some ways but it’s comfortable. The building itself is beautiful with lots of features but it is reliant on one old lift which isn’t all that reliable. With that in mind, you may have to be prepared to use your legs and walk and and down stairs. The staff were friendly enough. Overall, I would go back again.

First: Great location, a beautiful old building from the 1900's. Staff very friendly. We checked in rather late (our flight was delayed), were shown a room we didn't like and the night porter found a better one. We agreed on a lower rate for the bigger room, which he did promise. In the morning we noticed the following: The room, despite generous in size and having great views, felt dated. Furniture were chipped, some upholstery had spots, the door of the fridge cabinet was sagging. The shower has no door, so we were mopping the bathroom floor after each shower. We complained with the manager, a very friendly woman. She promised a bottle of champagne (never happened) and someone to look at the spots on the upholstery and at the sagging door - no feed back there either. We got the breakfast for free - as asked for. Later during our stay: Used water bottles from the fridge were not replaced, turn-down (we asked to come back in half an hour) did not happen. Very sad, that such a lovely hotel is badly run. Do the owners know? We should have stayed in the Grand Hotel, but chose this one because of the images on their web site. Not again.

The hotel itself is nestled within a picturesque, historically significant edifice, perfectly situated in a prime location. Our Superior room exuded an air of spaciousness and beauty, with lofty ceilings and beds that were an absolute marvel of comfort. It is worth commending the gentleman who manned the reception desk during the nocturnal hours of June 8th, 2023, for his amiable and helpful demeanour. Alas, the service at breakfast proved to be a grievous letdown. During the initial morning, our waiter appeared disinterested, sporting a smile that was noticeably absent. We were compelled to remind him of our desire for a simple cup of coffee. While the selection of juices presented a trifecta of delectable, freshly squeezed options, the assortment of bread left much to be desired, with the conspicuous absence of rye bread, a notable omission. Furthermore, the absence of complimentary white wine, a customary indulgence at establishments of this stature, did manage to raise a our eyebrows. Ah, the second day's breakfast, a true masterpiece of inefficiency. Despite the dining area being practically deserted, we were graced with the privilege of waiting for an eternity before a waiter deigned to acknowledge our existence. It took no less than three fervent pleas for a mere cup of coffee to materialize before us. It seemed as if the staff had succumbed to a state of perpetual lethargy or, dare I say, they were woefully understaffed. The lobby is in dire need of renovation, as it falls short of the standards befitting a five-star hotel. While our stay was enjoyable, I must express that the overall quality and value for the price did not meet the lofty expectations associated with an establishment of this calibre. Additionally, it is worth noting that there was a noticeable absence of a kettle and tea in the room, with only a coffee maker provided.

Currently staying at the hotel at the time of writing this. The good part is that the hotel itself is well-located next to the waterfront, in a high-end area of town and with other centrally-located destinations also within walking distance. It’s also a very handsome hotel from the outside, with nice enough (though somewhat dated) interiors. Finally, the breakfast is very good and was included with our room. The bad part is that our room (front facing and with a ‘sea view’) has been thumping all night (9pm—1am) for two nights in a row due to very loud music with heavy bass coming from somewhere else in the hotel (I believe the ground floor outdoor speakers or the hotel restaurant/bar on the 1st floor). When I called the front desk about this the first night (because I couldn’t get to sleep), I was told they would do something to address the noise, which they never did. I followed up in the morning and was told there was some sort of wedding event, and this was a one-off experience out of their control (annoying, but okay I suppose). However, here I am the next evening, and for the past two hours my room has again been shaking from loud music and bass. This time when I called the front desk, I was met with “we with check it out and do something,”though nothing has been done. I also asked about changing rooms, but was told the hotel is fully booked. In other words, this is the second night in a row without being able to sleep easily, with no action or remedy on the part of the hotel. Being able to sleep well seems like a basic requirement at an upscale hotel, so it’s difficult to recommend Hotel Diplomat to others based on this experience and the fact that Stockholm has so many other nice alternatives for accommodation.

Nice hotel in good location. Lifts are terrible, and not fit for purpose, even though they seem quite charming. Service is poor, it is quite clear on the front desk they are trained to smile and be well spoken but they also don’t want to help. They didn’t want to help us with luggage, they didn’t want to help with the pushchair, they left a note in our room for someone else and asking to help with a taxi was greeted with a sigh. Restaurant staff are the opposite of this and very good.

Stayed at the hotel quite regularly over the years but the customer service is now absolutely abysmal. Staff at the reception constantly give you the impression you’re bothering them

Every time I visit Stockholm, Hotel Diplomat is my sanctuary of choice. It's a place where the timeless elegance of classic service meets the sleek comfort of contemporary style. This hotel is a masterpiece that beautifully intertwines the charm of historic hospitality with the chic modernity of today's design. From the attentive staff's personal hospitality, to the exquisite rooms that blend comfort and style seamlessly, every aspect of Hotel Diplomat speaks to its dedication to convenience and comfort. Hotel Diplomat isn't just a place to stay; it's a part of my Stockholm experience that I cherish deeply. It's truly my home away from home. Love it!

Nice location. Great menu. Great food. Kind waiters, but too inexperienced. Too long waiting time for initial drink, no coordination of food (entrées, main, dessert). Expect more from 5* hotel

Luxury hotel in the middle of the main tourist area. Walk to museums and the palace with a few other castles thrown for good measure. Right on a canal with lovely water views. Wonderful restaurant.

Well, how do you describe the very same local Hotel lounge one has spent more hours in total, than the current staff operatives of this entire floor. Well, this social pattern do deem À necessity sam currently not meeting clients for file exchange and coverage of the holistic case overview to adress the issues according to mapped priority orders for these I would strongly suggest

My colleagues chose this place for our business trip. I am here now and miserably sitting in a tiny characterless room. The check in took a long time though the receptionist was friendly, however told me nothing about the hotel or the facilities (like times and location of breakfast which I paid for). My company booked me a queen room; I'm sitting in an unbelievably small room with less than 1m around the bed, where the door has to open outwards into the corridor it's so tiny. And it's not luxurious. Never before, when I arrived somewhere, have I felt so claustrophobic that I needed to leave my room. I asked to change rooms but it's sold out apparently. This room is suitable only for sleeping and not relaxing or eating/working in. There is a kettle in here but Nescafé instant coffee sachets only, no tea. I wish I had booked to stay elsewhere. Note my overall rating takes into account facilities and service offered and overall value for money.

Afternoontea is very expensive and not worth the money. We got tartar, raw meat!!!! It’s not many peoples who likes it. Not much to eat at all. The room isn’t nice and is without windows. Don’t waste your money on this.

One of the prettiest hotels I've stayed in! It looks luxurious and cosy. The breakfast was also nice and well organised. They have a few vegan options.

A very special historical staircase, it makes the most dreamy wedding photos. Just a cozy place in all seasons. Spacious rooms, don't think twice, just book.

Loved the quant charm of the hotel. Room is small, but loved it! Each room is apparently different as discussed with traveling buddies. Breakfast was delicious and filling ( it was included with our room). Location is in the heart of numerous places of interest, history, shopping, dining and across from the river. Walking to each destination from the Diplomat was an added bonus for us. Highly recommend!

We had a long and wonderful stay here over the holidays. From conversations during booking to adjusting to our travel delays to recommendations during the stay to the final departure, it was all fantastic. The rooms and the beds were very comfortable. The food was excellent and the breakfast offerings were great. I’d particularly mention that Anna on the guest services staff was incredibly helpful, and the rest of the staff members were also very welcoming and friendly. The only real improvement I can think to suggest is that the lunch and dinner room service menus could have a bit more variety and a few more light options like sandwiches. Overall it was a great stay and we hugely appreciated having such a comfortable home in Stockholm.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the nicest hotel we stayed in during our trip. Our room was beautiful with amazing views! The staff were super helpful, kind and professional. They went out of their way to make our honeymoon really special for us. Breakfast was also delicious and the location was great.

Great location and room was lovely. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was yum! There is a buffet and you can choose from a menu for eggs, French toast or porridge. Very easy to walk everywhere in the city from it. Overall would stay there again.

Beautiful hotel We had a superior room with the patio view and a king size bed. The room is spacious enough with a comfortable bed and 3 pillows (of different sizes and hardness) per person. A good size bathroom with shower. Fully stocked minibar The TV included a chromecast which was very easy to connect with. Breakfast is great! We did have 2 issues with the room: - no coffee/tea in the room - the light in the toilet is connected with the light to the entire bathroom and there is no door separating it from the bedroom. This means that if one person needs to visit the bathroom at night than the other will probably also wake up because of the light.

No refill of the soft drinks in the Mini bar, no milk for the coffee. A wrong wake up call at 6:20 am. Movies on the TV did not work. Even after 2 employees tried to fix it for over an hour. Etc etc

Good luck staying with two people in one room. Tiny. Location amazing, quaint and great food and drink options. Don't be higher than floor 3 as the elevator is a fiasco. Price is okay overall.
