I had high hopes for this museum but ended up very disappointed. Not prepared for non-swedish visitors. Looks like all the machinery is just cluttered in the space and as an english speaker you cannot count on guided tours (13 o'clock in swedish) but you get a couple of pages to read to yourself. It took me like 15 mins to just look around. Anyway-beautiful area around the museum.

Silk museum in the backstreets but included with the Stockholm pass. Brilliant demonstration of jacquard weaving and a lot of information about silk history in Stockholm. Wonderful if you have an interest in fabrics.

A unique museum and a testament to women's role in the industrial Revolution.

Very interesting industrial heritage and museum of a textile moment in a rather recent swedish history.

Very nice little museum. I'm glad they haven't "cleaned" or made the premises too modern. We were lucky to get a short silk weaving demonstration also. Buy their splendid soap called 'Almgrens tvättvål' for silk and wool garments at the museum's shop.

Facinating weaving factory, with an interesting museum collection at the top (open the little drawers to see the most incredible designs and samples from the factory's history). The lower floor is the old workroom where yarn was turned into warps, wound onto the looms and woven into beautiful cloth. As a former weaver I enjoyed the nostalgia and understood what I was seeing, although I'm not sure it would have been so easy to understand by a non-weaver. The museum's silent wooden looms would have been alive when in use, crashing and clattering all day long.

Among Stockholm's wide range of museums, you can find a real "gem" K.A. Almgren silk factory and museum. Wide, sturdy planks cover the floors of the museum factory, probably the original ones, from the beginning of the 1830s. The old silk weaving machines are in use, the weaver tells and shows how the machine works and produces silk. Mönstret's (model, pattern) are large wooden, patterned disks, which slip into the device like a string of pearls. Pentti Koivu

Interesting museum. Could do with better lighting in the upstairs area.
