We
stumbled
upon
the
Grand
Hotel
whilst
trying
to
escape
the
crying
clouds
a
few
months
back
in
July.
We
were
curious
to
see
the
hotel
and
its
outlets
since
my
friend
and
I
both
work
in
hotels.
Since
we
were
on
vacation,
we
allowed
ourselves
to
visit
the
bar
during
the
day.
We
were
lucky
to
find
a
table
in
the
outside
space
of
the
bar.
Whilst
we
wanted
to
order
cocktails,
we
observed
that
there
were
quite
a
few
tables
where
folks
were
indulging
in
Afternoon
Tea
with
champagne
and
scones.
The
lady
who
served
us
(sorry
I
forgot
her
name
since
itâs
been
a
few
months)
was
absolutely
amazing.
Super
knowledgeable
regarding
the
menu.
She
explained
the
theme
-
how
drinks
in
the
different
leaflets
corresponded
with
its
prowess
in
affecting
and
altering
oneâs
state.
The
drinks
in
the
mind
section
were
the
strongest
whilst
those
in
the
legs
section
were
milder.
Also,
the
overall
ideation
of
the
menu
is
inspired
by
RĂŠgis
Cadier,
the
hotelâs
founder,
and
his
journey
from
Paris
to
Stockholm;
the
same
has
been
depicted
brilliantly
and
creatively
through
fun
illustrations.
After
the
lady
left
us
to
deliberate
our
choices,
I
decided
upon
the
cocktail
that
juxtaposed
tasting
notes
of
an
Irish
coffee
with
those
of
a
piĂąa
colada,
and
my
friend
chose
the
cocktail
dedicated
to
a
Swedish
actress
who
was
a
frequent
patron
of
the
Grand
Hotel
(Greta
Garbo,
I
think).
When
the
lady
brought
our
cocktails
to
us,
she
elaborated
on
the
stories
that
inspired
them,
along
with
describing
the
various
flavours
that
we
should
be
tasting.
Before
my
friend
could
commence
his
tasting,
she
placed
a
clear,
white
coaster
onto
the
table,
and
displaced
his
cocktail
from
the
wooden
surface
onto
the
coaster.
Ah
the
dramatics!
Upon
peering
into
the
glass,
we
saw
Gretaâs
face
staring
back
at
us
-
it
was
truly
a
unique
and
aesthetically-pleasing
cocktail.
The
ice
cube
in
his
glass
had
her
face
as
its
background,
which
reflected
clearly
against
the
white
of
the
coaster.
So
definitely
recommend
this
place!
Our
server,
who
had
perhaps
been
there
for
a
year
or
so,
shared
that
she
had
been
involved
in
the
creation
of
the
menu,
and
thus
knew
it
like
the
back
of
her
hand!
It
was
a
pleasure
to
chat
with
her.
Also,
the
bar
has
one
of
the
best
views
of
the
Royal
Palace.
The
only
drawback
would
be
the
furniture
and
the
rugs.
They
looked
a
little
old,
a
little
stuffy...I
canât
explain
it.
It
just
didnât
suit
the
vibe
of
the
place.
Didnât
look
regal
and
refined
enough
to
be
in
a
creative
and
elegant
bar
such
as
the
Cadierbaren.
But
all
in
all,
you
must-visit
this
gem
in
Stockholm,
even
if
youâre
not
too
big
on
cocktails
-
youâll
definitely
fancy
something
on
the
menu
and
you
wonât
be
disappointed
once
you
taste
it!
