Gotta
start
by
saying
my
wife
and
I
always
seek
out
the
cheapest
hotels
in
any
region
we
visit
just
to
see
if
the
reviews
are
as
honest
as
they
appear
-
in
the
case
of
The
Crown,
it
was
certainly
borderline
…..
we’re
giving
a
3*
rating
based
on
the
friendly
staff,
room
cleanliness
against
the
amazing
low
price.
We
arrived
mid-evening,
there
was
a
very
drunk
lady
swigging
cider
from
a
bottle
on
the
doorstep
who
greeted
us
warmly,
but
luckily
the
real
staff
were
inside
talking
to
two
policemen
who
were
there
to
investigate
a
missing
guest
…
Key
obtained,
we
made
our
way
up
to
our
1st
floor
room,
wondering
if
the
sagging,
creaking
floorboards
beneath
the
very
old
hallway
carpet
were
actually
safe.
On
the
way
we
passed
a
ceiling
hatch
with
water
flowing
onto
the
carpet
beneath
which
we
reported
to
reception
The
room
was
actually
clean,
as
were
the
bed
sheets
and
towels,
but
there
was
so
much
functionally
wrong
with
the
room
we
simply
cannot
list
it
all
here
!
The
noise
from
both
other
guests
in
adjoining
rooms
and
from
loud
people
outside
the
hotel
were
certainly
a
disturbance,
and
the
lack
of
comfort
on
the
mattress
suggests
it
was
probably
long
overdue
for
retirement.
This
hotel
could
have
great
potential,
but
the
cost
of
refurbishment
would
be
astronomical,
so
make
the
most
of
the
low
cost
and
keep
your
fingers
crossed
that
the
floorboards
hold
out
….
