Hands down best Halwa Puri, Lassi and Samosa in Chicago area. The most authentic I have ever had in US. It actually is better than many top halwa puri places in Pakistan. Above all, the owner Nusrat Gee is such a kind and caring woman. Loved her hospitality!

Best halwa puri in Chicago. I brought guests here from Pakistan and they said this is no different from what they eat at Burns road. I live an hour away from this place and still make the drive here braise the halwa puri is so good. Much better than anything at Devon.

This was my first visit to this place. Simply put this place is ok to subpar range. Went there on Sunday at 10:30 AM to try their traditional Halwa Puri breakfast. They are located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Restaurant is small with a fast food style feel to it. We ordered two Halwa Puri with two Chai. Had to wait a few minutes to find a table. After getting seated I felt claustrophobic with the extremely tight seating arrangement. Waited about 45 minutes for the order. Bit on the pricey side i.e. $13 for Hawla Puri that normally sells for $8 at other places. Once our order number was called I picked up the food with around 10 people gathered around the front desk. Felt like a mini chaos to pickup the food. Food itself was ok. I would rate just the food 3 out of 5, compared to the overall experience of 2 out of 5. Halwa Puri was served like a platter with various items in the plate. Presentation was good. Potato salan was really good, perfect balance of spice and flavor, Chana salan (chickpeas) were bit undercooked but the flavor was ok, Halwa was very watery and diluted and lacked the texture but the flavor was decent. This was served with yogurt and pickles and three Puris. Generally speaking at other places Puris are very oily but theirs was just right. They were out of other breakfast items in the morning such as Unda (Egg) Pratha (Bread). They had a small section of traditional sweets in the display case. My goal was to try them but I got overwhelmed by the rush and mini chaos in there and opted to leave after finishing the breakfast. Overall this place has a potential to be an excellent South Asian breakfast restaurant but at the moment they lack the customer service, organization and lack of staffing. I could tell the staff felt overwhelmed and stressed there. If you are not looking to drive to Devon Ave for good Halwa Puri and are ok with rush and extended wait time you can try this place. Based on my experience I will try other places first before going back there.

Mom and pop restaurant where heart and soul are evident in their product. Amazing samosas , chaat , and great selection of sweets ; I recommend the kalakand and cashew meeta. Prices are reasonable based on current economy. Taking off one star because there’s always a bit of a wait and place prefers cash. I recommend ordering ahead and having cash.

this hit the spot! It's been a while since I've had authentic halwa puri breakfast (I live out of state). It definitely brought back the nostalgic feeling of breakfast in Karach, and I'm still not over it. Atmosphere could use some improvement in terms of cleanliness, otherwise 10/10 for food!

Finally came across the authentic pakistani food i was looking for since many years. Great service and respectful, friendly staff. I had big orders of Gulab Jaman and they were made fresh and on-time. Gulab Jaman were mouth melting. Every one loved the sweets as they were soft and fresh unlike you see at Devon street. Also ordered chaat and samosas and both had the authentic taste and the spicy kick i was hoping for. Thanks for keeping up the good quality and authentic desi taste!

At the beginning when Rehman Sweets started it used to be good and everything was freshly made in their kitchen but I am sorry to say NO MORE. It is sad that they could not maintain their standards of food quality and CLEANING Quality (their sitting area is so stinky not sure about kitchen behind). Few days ago I got a chance to go there to buy some MITHAI and I placed my ordered. I saw one lady came out of the Rehman Sweets kitchen with bunch of little kids (not sure how those small kids are allowed in the kitchen. Its not legally permitted) and went outside the shop, I placed my order and waited for it. I observed same lady with kids (who left the shop few mints ago) came back later and my order was ready and handed over to me. I did not know what was going on but when I came back to my car I was told the whole story by my children who also saw that lady leaving the store. She infect went to IQRA Grocery store next door and bought boxes of frozen mithai from there, hid those boxes under her shawl and took them back to Rehman Sweets Kitchen. I was given the same Mithai that she just bought from IQRA Grocery store next door for 7.99$/LB and I paid 14$/LB mithai which was supposed to be freshly made. The price that I paid was for freshly made methai that's why I did not have problem paying 14$. It was so sad, shocking and SHAME that Rehman Sweets also started adopting the bad business tactics and tricking / blinding its customers. After my kids told me the whole story I really wanted to go back and return the methai but then I decided just to go home. I really did not want to disrespect the old lady infront of another customer who was at the counter. Hopefully they soon will end up losing their business like other bad business owner who tried to be over smart. It was my last time I was at Rehman Sweets and would like to share this with others please be vigilant and observe what are you buying from there. Thanks

Went for a quick breakfast. Had the aloo parantha and halwa poori. The halwa poori is actually a full platter with 3 large pooris, chana and authentic kalonji flavoured aloo. Parantha is gigantic, crisp, and has acceptable amount of filling; it also comes with achaar and yogurt. They were only serving these two items on Sunday morning that were savoury. Portion size 10/10, flavour 8.5/10, drawback: excessive oil in the poori and chana.

I've been coming here since they've opened, and I give my 2/5 stars purely for taste. Pros: I've had most things from their breakfast to their samosas and chaat. I would say the food is pretty good. Definitely hitting the mark. However, that is where the pros end. Cons: Their mitai(sweets) are tasteless, its just sugar without any depth of flavor. Service is disastrous, I've catered, and they've left out items saying things like "O you probably have chutney at home" or "just add onions from your house". Overpriced. They have no competition in the area, so their prices make no sense even when confronted about it. I brought up the fact that they charged me $13 for a puri breakfast (typically 8-9) that yes while delicious was literally 1 spoon of lentils and potatoes. I would feel embarrassed to shortchange people like that personally. And their response was that people don't notice it when its spread out in a plate as opposed to a container so only take out people complain. I hope they improve however realistically I doubt it. I will probably not be back. I actually do not mind high prices if the value makes sense. But to each their own.

Super super amazing... Gulab Jaman is the best... Reminds me of Pakistan... The older gentleman (I guess he's the owner) is an amazing and super sweet guy...

Certainly over priced 12$ for halwa puri plate and they accept cash only. Dirty floors, sweet shelves and bathrooms . Not coming back.

We have been going to this restaurant for years as it used to have good halwa puri and sweets but service was always slow. Recently not only their halwa puri taste went down but their portion sizes also decreased and prices have doubled but no efforts whatsoever made to improve service or seating(always cramped). Went there on Saturday and they served us very little salan with puris and then made us wait over 30 minutes for tea. When I complained(I literally stood in front of cash register for a long time before the uncle noticed me!) he had the audacity to say ‘to aapne pehle batana tha na’….Needless to say we have decided to never return. I describe this place in 3 words ‘Lay, khaa , marr’(if you can understand Urdu!)

Matti sweets at this shop that taste just as good and perhaps better than Tahoora. Price / pound of matti = $14 as of Dec 2022. I asked for 5 pounds of matti and our selections were measured at 5.88 pounds (inclusive of matti boxes). When we went on a Wednesday evening, they had most but not all types of matti available.

Over priced for a dirty little resturant. Kept telling customers to pay in cash. Halwa puri is way over priced for the portion given. Potato tarkari was not good at all.

Food is excellent and the quality and quantity is very good. Restaurant needs to be deeply cleaned. It’s dirty and service is not so great. People are friendly but lacks good service ethics.
