I get the sense that these guys are a community pillar, which I think explains the high ratings. Walking in, I wanted to love this joint - really cool looking guys behind the counter doing honest work; however, I think an overall rating of 3.5 stars would be more appropriate to reflect the quality of the food and how I felt about spending my money here. The pizza was uninspired... underwhelming, really. The crust especially let us down. The wings were sub-par. It looks like the cheese steak is good from other reviews, but I don't see myself returning. Two stars - there is so much better pizza in town for the same price, there's no reason for Mother's to hold the highest rating in Melrose.

I can only speak to the pizza. Greek, styrofoam crust style. Nothing Italian or particularly tasty about it. To be fair, it's only $2 per slice, and that's what it taste like. It always shocks me as to what qualifies as 4 star pizza. Maybe the other food here is good.

I've been going here for 11+ years. Food is alwaya fantastic. The guys are great. Its always fast and the prices are good. Always my first choice for subs.

I truly enjoy this place. Is it the newest looking place on the block? No. Far from it. But it seems as though the crew working behind the counter are the same people who have been doing it for 35 years! They're so nice and welcoming. The food is really good. I personally prefer this place to schoolhouse pizza or liberty bell!

New England Greek-style pizza -- if you are reading this and are a tourist from outside New England, just be aware that it may not be what you are expecting. I think it is good, and Mother's makes a good one. Greek-style, which isn't from Greece but rather was developed by Greek immigrants, has a kind of buttery, crispy crust, sauce that ia sweeter than usual sauce, and the cheese includes some cheddar.

Steak and cheese is unmatched. Great pizza and even greater staff who have been here for many many years. Got pizza since I was a kid. Here’s to many more.

Mother's makes the BEST food!!! I've been getting subs and pizza from them for over 10 years and I highly recommend them!!!

Got 3 pizzas and w beers (personal pozzas) was 111$ before tip. Only sour dough pizza, the only decent one was the margarita pizza. I understand this is newport, but it's literally a Pinera Bread building and they painted over it. Would not recommend.

Delicious and quick takeout in Melrose at a very fair price. The chicken gyro and steak & cheese sub were fantastic.

Haven't been in a while. Its still very good! Got egg and potato and steak bomb subs.

We have been going to mother's for over 10 yrs, never had anything that I didn't like, their pizza is breedy and thinner but good toppings and ratio, their subs are big and packed in and their servings for fries and chicken fingers are overflowing. Prices are fare also. The guys are friendly and down home just like family. Try them for yourself if it not for you that ok also, they have made it for 40+ based on people that care and love their stuff, their part of the community!
