A truly impressive castle ruin can imagine it was spectacular back in its day. Waring it is quite a walk from the car park, and it's the cheapest to park in , but total worth it for the fantastic views to be had. The site is run by national trust, who do a great job of preserving what's left of the ruins. The court yard as you enter was fab with lots of kids' activities and picnic areas.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. We had free tickets from the mirror paper. All staff friendly and helpful. A lot of walking. There is so much to see. There is plenty for children to do. Toilets available. Trust shop was good. Parking was a bit far away, but only £2.20 for 3 hours. Some lovely little shops nearby. The views were absolutely stunning. As you can tell by the photos I've taken. Will definitely visit again.

I went there on National heritage weekend, so it’s free entrance. The view from the castle was so beautiful especially on the high level. There are a lot of bench along the way to the top of castle. Pet allowed in all area. There are no toilet in the castle. Toilet is in front of the entrance. Summer is better to travel.

Had a lovely 20 minute stroll down to Corfe castle and the little village. No wait at all, straight through with our National trust membership. We were greeted with a Easter Hunt and face painting for the kids. Always a bonus. When completed we received a key on completion of our quest 🔑🗝️ We had a fantastic tour and found the history of Corfe castle very interesting. Thank you for having us today... We will recommend family and friends to visit when down this way.

Wonderful trip to this beautiful castle ruin, lots of areas to explore and hide in and walk around. A good lot of walking is done here so you will need a decent pair of shoes, dogs welcome. Unfortunately the power was out today so the toilets etc weren't working properly and there was not hot food and drinks around but it was still good to experience it. There is a short walk called the rings which is available close to the castle that provides nice views of the entire thing.

I loved the environment. Nature there is so beautiful 😍. It’s a good place for your hangout next summer. Nice picture spots. Gate fee just seemed a bit pricey, but it’s perfect💯.

Corfe Castle; A fantastic castle to visit and the beautiful village below the castle is a must see. Plenty to do, loads of stunning views. You can eat at the very picturesque Inn’s and reasonable prices. In the Castle grounds the kids can play some of the medieval games that were played when the castle was lived in. Over a 1000 years of history and you can walk in the footsteps of the soldiers and kings and queens that have ruled and lived there. There is also a steam train you can get from the main Car park or you can walk through the train station and use the path to walk to the castle which takes around 15 minutes. Prices to enter are reasonable too, very friendly and helpful staff, a big thumbs up from me and the family.

Used our free National Trust pass to enter into another world! Would highly recommend the experience. Soaking up the history and the delightful British countryside at the same time. We had good weather, not so sure it would have been so enjoyable to climb all those hills in the rain though!!

A lot better than I thought it was going to be. National trust parking is at the visitor center which is located off the main road. The castle can be found via a short walk up a signposted path. The castle ruins are very interesting. Make sure you read all of the information boards and listen to the audio posts to enable you to picture how it was. Very informative about the King's who reigned during the life of the castle and the Banks family too. Lovely views from the castle so be sure to have a camera handy. We walked around at an average speed and read and listened to everything and it took us roughly 2 hours. There is a lovely grassed area with table and chairs for anyone wishing to have a picnic.

Stunning place to visit. Price was worth it as allowed in all day. Parking was a little walk away but ok. The views here were just amazing. Such a beautiful place. Watching the birds fly so close was awesome. Certainly enjoyed it. Highly recommend visiting. Plus the pub at the bottom of the castle is awesome so check that out too!

First time visiting this castle and village. The whole area is lovely. The castle offers a lot of information for those of us history lovers and provided amazing views of the surrounding countryside for everyone else. You can see the castle from pretty much anywhere in the village but I would recommend actually going to the castle and getting up to the top, it's worth it.

There was quite a bit to see here and although the castle has been impacted by subsidence you can still get an idea of the immensity of the place. With powerful vistas for miles around and a good view of the town below. Built by Norman the Conqueror and has featured in a few wars over the years. Looks like the only way it was breached was through traitors inside. Worth a visit, particularly if you are a National Trust member

This is should be at the top of your 'To Do' list if you are in the area. The phrase " King of the Castle" comes to mind when you visit Corfe Castle. To the north there are views of the town and countryside while to the south you are met with views of the sea. A truely breathtaking viewpoint. I highly recommend Corfe Castle if you are looking for a place to take children. There are so many activities for children of all ages to enjoy. If you have a toddler they might enjoy the construction area where they can use large blocks to build towers and archways. For preschoolers and older the nearby role play tent allows you to dress up and go hunting the grounds for icons on a checklist. The town itself provides a wonderful atmosphere with quaint tea gardens and stores like the village bakery and sweet shop. There are toilets which can be found near the ticket office and the local tea garden offering refreshments, cakes and ice creams can be found just opposite.

Absolutely stunning Castle. Amazing and rich history. Beautiful scenic views. Costs $11 pounds for admission. It was bit difficult for my uncle to make it up with a sprained ankle, bit of your able bodied, it is not difficult to explore all the sites.

Fantastic property managed by the National Trust. So we’ll looked after and a real joy to wander around with the kids and dog. It hasn’t been spoilt by health and safety. There are still areas that are accessible without railings that ruin the experience or view. As long as you keep your kids close and your dog on a lead it’s really brilliant. The view from the top is remarkable. I enjoyed reading the guide book immensely. It is very well written and engaging. Well worth purchasing if you like your history. The audio guide points around the castle are also fantastic. No need for the annoying head-sets; you just press a button and stand there while the voice explains where you are within the castle grounds and what that particular area once was. I would 100% visit again. It was brilliant!

What a beautiful castle, very impressive. The ruins are stunning and can be seen from far away. The views from the top of the ruins are spectacular. There are plenty of interactive spots like archery, true/false quiz and fun facts dotted in the grounds. As this is a National Trust property, members entry is free. The 'tea-room' cafe at the bottom of the ruins has a brilliant and clear view of the ruins so you can have a coffee or lunch over a beautiful view. Standard price for National Trust cafe so no surprises there. Corfe Castle is very close to the railway station (served by diesel or steam train). An easy 7min walk through the local village. This is a dog friendly place with water bowls every 2-3min walk through the grounds. Definitely a must-see castle/ruins. Especially on a beautiful sunny day.

Great castle to visit with something for all ages to look at and explore. Be prepared for some walking from not only the car park to the castle but also around the castle as you can explore lots of towers and ruins. Being national trust there is lots of information to learn about the castle and activities such a archery and building your own stone arch for the kids. There are two car parks and at weekends you need to be here early, often before 9:30am to get a space if the weather is nice. It's worth it though and you can easily spend a few hours here with all there is to look at. Recommended!

What a brilliant place to visit! There's something for young and old alike. Wear comfortable shoes as there's lots of walking involved. During holidays they have additional activities available for children which are fun whilst being educational too. You can learn lots from the visit and the views are spectacular!

Fairytale castle that has to be seen to be believed. Very hard to do it justice in a review so not going to try. Run by the National Trust so immaculately maintained with excellent facilities. Perfect for picnics and exploring. Very good value and worth joing the trust as a member for. They run events right through the year. Christmas here is particularly magical. Closed at night but you can look through the bars and try to spot the ghosts. Views for miles. Iconic.

Lovely day out. Took the Sandbank Ferry for the added experience. Beautiful castle and town. It's worth popping in for a visit. We didn't visit the actual castle, as we have been visiting so many of them, and it adds up (financial speaking). We did visit the fairy garden and miniature town - this will blow your little ones' minds!

Great place to visit, Corfe Castle. When you park in Carpark at base of Corfe castle it looks like a long haul to the top. Its deceiving, there are 2 ways. To the right more difficult. Straight over road and continue is a gentle climb. Car park a fair size with facility centre. refreshments. Disabled access is good. Castle accessible partially for disabled as it is very rocky and bridges crossing ruins. Castle is well worth a visit, beautifully kept and great views, and historically interesting. Its a great visit, during holidays, children, adult activities. The village of Corfe may be easier to park if disabled. I am not sure of parking, best look before going. Tea room National Trust, very large. Other tea rooms and shops in village. My choice is the model village tea room, great food and drink. Lovely people own this.

Good ruins. Nice picnic area on the grass and a few games and activities for the kids to play. Quite good tea room as well. Corfe castle area does get very busy in summer so worth going earlier in the day to ensure you can find a parking space if coming by car. Bear in mind the car parks are all a fair walk away from the castle.

Great place to visit on the sunny day! Very enjoyable for kids and adults. Dog friendly. There is musketeer show running few times a day - great fun, lots of laughs and many occasions to participate in the show for kids and adults! Also, plenty of activities for kids to play while you can have a quick picnic on the green area. Definitely worth to visit!

Have been coming to Dorset for 30 years and have driven past Corfe Castle but never stopped. Parking was easy to find , go early if you can as car park gets busy. Toilets can be found in this car park along with an information point and a cafe. Make sure you wear trainers or walking boots for this one. Cross over the road from the car park and you will see a gate with a sign to the castle . Lovely scenery to see along your way and also a few benches for a picnic down by the river , walk across another small road and though another gate to see the castle ruins . Once at the top of the path turn left and you will reach the castle , some lovely shops out the front along with a bakery and tea rooms as well as a sweet shop and a few pubs , lovely little village. If you are a national trust member remember to scan your card for the car park ticket and also they will scan it again at the entrance. The volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly, there are quite a few steps that you will need to go up to see the top of the castle. Dogs are welcome here too. Amazing views of Swanage and the steam train at the top of the castle too. You never know you might even be lucky enough to see a peregrine falcon flying around as they have a big nest in the castle ruins. Lots of things for children to do in the summer holidays too.

Superb area of the castle, really good walk around and plenty of activities for small children to get involved with. We had teddy bears rope-swinging down from the heights part of the castle walls, little activity book with clues dotted around the castle with information about the castle grounds, beautiful sights to see when you climbed a bit higher every time. Great walk and a lovely day out with the family

Corfe Castle is run by the National Trust. National trust members will find it free to enter the castle or it will cost £10. There is a National Trust car park at the bottom of the hill outside the village. This car park is free to National Trust members. In this car park is a tearoom, shop and toilets. When we visited the tea room was closed due to a shortage of staff but the toilets were open. You cross the road and follow the path up to the castle. It slowly climbs. The site is vast and provides views across the countryside. Throughout the site are information boards explaining the history of the site. There are also audio displays. There are a number of paths to follow throughout the site that are easy to walk on. Just outside the castle is a tearooms run by National Trust. There are also toilets outside the entrance.

Fantastic day out, we popped in and out for ice creams etc but could also bring in lunch as there's plenty of space to eat and relax. The castle is very interesting and has lovely views, plus there's small games/pieces of interest around it too. It's not fully accessible, but fine for most people

  • 5/5 Grahame E. 1 year ago on Google
Not for the unsteady under foot but a great place to visit, lovely views over Corfe and beyond. Despite all the efforts to destroy it it still stands firm, the ruins are impressive and the National Trust really do look after it and make it as safe and pleasant a place to visit as they can. Corfe offers plenty of places to grab food or a drink but beware the National Trust garden that looks out on the castle is a haven for wasps and if you sit outside to eat or drink prepare for unwanted company. Tip, if you're a National Trust member use the car park at the bottom of the hill as it's free for members but does fill up easily.

We absolutely loved our visit to Corfe Castle today. You can easily spend the day there walking around the castle ruins and admiring the stunning views aswell as looking around the lovely village there. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Quite a lot of walking involved but nothing to strenuous

  • 5/5 Beth P. 1 year ago on Google
Second visit to Corfe Castle.. it’s an impressive castle with outstanding views across Corfe and a lovely view of the local stream train. There is no indoor area and it’s high up so can be chilly even on a fine day so be prepared to layer up. Car parking is around 10 minutes walk and spaces are tight. Entry and car parking is free for National Trust members otherwise reasonable for paying visitors. There is a visitors centre at the car park but that was closed for our visit today. Staff onsite were very cheerful and helpful and the kids really enjoyed completing a little leaflet on a trail around the grounds to gain the “keys to the castle”. There are some steeper parts to the castle but nothing tricky to navigate so fairly accessible. The castle itself can be explored in a relatively short time so worth apportioning some of the day to visit the village which has a lot of little gems to offer.

This is a very picturesque castle ruins. Extremely peaceful here. A little bit off the beaten path but I like that. It is in a tiny little village and the surroundings around the castle have some cute shops. It was built in the 1100s so is extremely old. To set expectations there are no rooms or grandeur. It literally is ruins but does give you an idea of some of the architectural feats they were able to execute in the past. A good place to take children.

Very beautiful place, we didn't go inside the castle as we were already coming from a long Hike, but the scenery and the place looks authentic. There is a very nice cafe which is overlooking the castle where you can have lunch or sit for tea/coffee. A very nice bakery around the corner which serves hot pastries and delicious cakes.

One of the most scenic castles I’ve ever seen. Whether you are doing a hike, a walk or you just popped at the local village, the castle is well worth a visit. The structure looks amazing and it gives a nice view of the surroundings. Truly spectacular

Enjoyed a great day out via the heritage railway from Swanage. A few nice quirky local shops, good pubs and an amazing village store & post office with a huge selection of gins - some local. The castle itself is very atmospheric and provides a superb view of the surrounding landscape from its high vantage point.

  • 5/5 Kayleigh M. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing castle ruins which are a short walk from the nearby village where there is plenty of car parking. You can pay on the day to go into the castle and as you go through the gates there are activities for kids (and adults!) such as a treasure hunt, archery and a few games from the time the castle was in use. There was information about the castle and the development/use of the castle throughout the ages. The views from the top are amazing and you might be lucky enough to see the steam train come along! The only downside of the castle was that despite signs asking not to climb on the ruins, people still did.
