Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple is one of the famous temples of Lord Shiva. Temple is located in very serene surroundings. The Himalayan cedar or Deodhar trees are tall and add to the already ethereal surroundings. The 1-1.5hr drive is through some breathtaking valleys and narrow winding roads.

Loved the experience. Is a very peaceful place to visit in off season. Natural beauty and great views while travelling to the destination. If you are planning to stay couple of good resorts to stay within a range between 20 - 30 km from Tarkeshwar... You should visit once...

Worth a place to visit from Lansdowne which is only 40kms away. The route is fine and driveable. Mandir is nicely located around the pine trees. Good atmosphere.

The only words I can use to describe the experience are peaceful, nature and just amazing. The property is surrounded by green hills. It's crazy how something can be so beautiful. There is also an "ashrama" besides the temple where you can bathe in cold water and feel fresh. We also met a really sweet local there who helped us around and told us about the place's history.

Mandir is must go place for devotees. Place is located in very peaceful ambience. It takes 2 hrs from lansdowne to reach. I would suggest to take own car only if you are confident enough to drive. The route is narrow & be extra cautious while driving. Overall experience was good.Prefer to leave early morning & return back before evening.

Natural, hisorical, religious and peaceful. It was so worth to visit this beautiful temple at outskirts of the hill town. Better than any tourist spot around Lansdowne. It took 2 hours completely and roads were not that great at the end but it's easy to go. Less network so download offline maps in advance.

Clam and peaceful. You can listen birds singing and wind noise. Very cool even in peak summer. road is in good condition however narrow. Two small vehicle will easily cross but if any truck or bus come from opposite side, it will be little difficult to cross.

Tarkeshwar Mahadev is a hugely popular temple among the locals and visitors, 36 km from Lansdowne and at a height of 1,800 m. The place is known for its temple dedicated to Shiva. Surrounded by thick forests of cedar and pine, it is an ideal place for those who seek beauty in nature. Great place for your nature photography. During Shivratri, a special worship is held. The temple committee provides a dharamshala for accommodation. At Lansdown you will find many hotels for stay. It is a good place for a family trip for 1–2 days. Limited parking space around 20 cars and then a 500-700 metre down slope walk to the temple. Parking is free though. Coming back to climb up to the parking lot appears difficult to some not in good shape but manageable to most. Be watchful at the turns particularly while driving cars and slow down maintaining 15-20 km/h speed. Not many options for night stay around. Avoid weekends if possible. Beware of monkeys.

Amazing experience. Lots of lush green surroundings. Mandir premises are maintained quite well. Tarkeshwar Baba did tapa of God Shiva. Inside the mandir you'll find sculpture embedded for Tarkeshwar baba. Around the mandir, various small statues of Shiv are there. There's a Shivlinga outside, where you can do jal arpan. A separate mandir is there for Maa Durga. Entrance of the mandir contains many small temple bells. Whole area gets resonated with the sound of that. We went there on Monday, Shiva's day. There was a bhandara that they were serving there. If you are coming from Kotdwar, before reaching Lansdowne, some 4 kms away, there's a right cut for Tarkeshwar dham that goes downhill. From there it's 35 kms. The roads lead upto Mandir. Only 4-5 mins of walking on foot, you'll have to do which consists of steps, covered from above. Car parking can be done either on reaching Mandir, or some 200-300 mtrs before Mandir on the roadside, to avoid any unnecessary jams on return.

Different experience here, almost 2 hours drive from Lansdowne and little trek (steps) to reach temple. I went early in the morning (May be first one for the day) & it was little scary. So recommend not to go early, best time is to reach there by 11 or so. Nature was beautiful near the temple which you can see from pics I have uploaded. Last but not least road from Lansdowne is not bvery good but ok types.

HIGHLY RECCOMEND if you are in Lansdown or around. It's about an hour drive from Lansdowne city center. My biggest complaints at all the popular Hindu places of worship is that its hard to find peace. But this place - OH MY GOD, this place is the stuff of dreams. Its in a valley surrounded by beautiful devdar trees and as we decent near to temple, the views are mind blowing. The temple is amidst the woods - if you are there at the sunrise it just elevates the experience and view as the sunlight filters down from the treetops. Peace of mind in nature lap. It is famous place for God Mahadev just 30 km from Lansdowne city. I was staying in Blue Pine Resort. Totally hill drive and amazing view around everywhere

The temple is situated on the top of a mountain at an elevation of 1800 m above the sea level. It is really refreshing and beautiful to visit this temple surrounded by deodar trees.

Such a beautiful place. This Shiva temple is 600 years old situated between beautiful hills of Uttrakhand. One has to book a taxi to visit this temple from Kotdwar or Lansdowne. The whole temple is really beautiful. Please do visit for sure if you are coming to Lansdowne.

If in Lansdowne and haven't visited Tarkeshwar Mahadev Mandir then your trip isn't complete. It would take you about 1.5 hours of car ride to reach here if you are staying in Lansdowne market road near Mayur Hotel. This is 1500 year old temple. Must visit. You'll love it.

Nestled amidst lovely tall trees, there is a lot of positive energy in the area. A bit away from Lansdowne, 39 kms one way, but definitely worth a visit.
