I
guess
it
is
mentioned
not
in
one
but
multiple
places
that
this
is
the
largest
wetland
of
Northern
India.
And
guess
what
the
expanse
of
water
here
is
like
the
sea,
vast
and
limitless.
We
were
here
in
off
season,
travelling
from
Jalandhar.
The
accessibility
is
very
good
till
harike
town.
Post
which
it
goes
downhill
as
you
have
to
first
find
the
wildlife
wardens
office
which
is
in
a
lane
next
to
the
bus
stand
chowk.
They
give
you
a
permit
to
go
inside
and
themselves
discourage
you
that
during
the
summers,
monsoons
it
has
nothing
of
value
in
terms
of
migratory
species.
Then
you
have
to
travel
towards
nanaksar
gurdwara
after
crossing
the
bridge
over
the
dammed
sutlej,
beas.
Turn
left
right
after
the
bridge
and
turn
right
next
to
the
gurdwara.
The
place
itself
is
incredible,
newer
visitor
centres
are
being
built
with
some
good
design
intent.
The
guards
at
the
gates
are
very
affable
and
friendly.
Forest
bathing
happened,
while
spotting
local
native
species
of
birds,
the
drongo,
woodpeckers,
egrets
and
other
larger
species
which
I
do
not
know
the
name
of.
I
spotted
a
family
of
brownish
foxes
(indian
red
foxes).
The
atmosphere
was
serene
quiet
and
you
knew
you
were
suitably
cut
from
the
human
part
of
civilization.
But
maybe
cause
it
was
not
migratory
bird
time
no
birding
phamplets,
no
nature
officers,
no
enthusiastic
guides
amateur
or
otherwise.
I
would
highly
recommend
this
place
to
everybody
at
all
times
of
the
year
to
see
a
different
side
of
Punjab.
P.s
the
wooded
path
around
the
Wetland
is
dense
and
surrounded
by
trees
and
viewing
towers,
birding
enclosures
(a
lot
of
them
in
the
making).
Pardon
my
low
quality
pictures
of
the
birds
as
they
were
all
from
a
phone
camera
