Edit Jan 2022: Came and had a lovely lunch here today. The menu was limited due to staffing shortages but both dishes were super fresh, balanced, and tasty. Original review from 2020: Have had numerous beautiful breakfasts, lunches, coffees and catch ups at Barrio! It’s a lovely space with good energy, balanced flavours and friendly staff. My mum loved the fish soup! I loved the fava beans, chips, and tomato salad! Always a go to when I’m in Byron! Look forward to returning in the near future.

This is just my opinion! Don't get my wrong!! The food and taste are really good but I was expecting more quantity for the price I paid. I did miss more on side dishes. What is it an octopus without boiled potatoes? why a basket of bread that could help to taste the delicious flavor of the chicken, or the flavor of the fish it is an entrée that cost 5.5 (a piece of bread)? and not something that it is with the plate? As I said the food was good.... but the missing parts on the food and the price do not help the overall experience, at least for me.

Food was excellent we had swordfish, beef and octopus plus salads and the pineapple crumb dessert. All food was top notch as wS the service

This left us really disappointed. When you pay $40 for a pasta dish there is a level of expectation that comes with it and that includes good/efficient service. Having made a booking for lunch we were sat down and it 20 minutes for them to take our order. It then took over an hour for the food to arrive. During this time locals breezed in with ease, ate and left all before we received any food at all. Staff didn’t appear too concerned when we provided verbal feedback! I think we will give this dining experience a miss next time we visit byron, and that’s unfortunate as the food was lovely once it finally came out of the kitchen.

What incredibly rude and condescending wait staff. Overpriced, average coffee. Stuffed up a simple order and treated us as though it was our fault. Rolling your eyes at customers? Byron might be the place to be but what a shame that in such a beautiful place there are such patronizing people who treat paying customers like they are unworthy of your time. Won’t be back - ever. Word of mouth is also a powerful thing. Sort out your staff!

We were three more people than we booked, so we asked them to add chairs, after waiting for an hour they proposed us to separate the group into two tables, finally they added the seats to the big table. After that, the service was very good. Some dishes took a while to come out but the food was delicious. Anyway, I think they gave us a discount for being a large group.

Myself and family went here for lunch shortly after Christmas. The food had a dynamic range of flavours with beautiful sauces, purees and dressings. We loved the starters and desserts. The highlight for me was the lemon myrtle panna cotta and the terrific venue which had a cool sea breeze flowing in the Windows. P.s. terrific service and easy parking. Thanks!

We caught the Solar Train from the Byron CBD. A fun way to go to lunch. This restaurant is an easy 3 minute walk from the station. Fantastic, friendly staff and a terrific menu. The steak is a stand out and all dishes were brilliant! Cooked to perfection 🥰

Just ordered sirloin $40. A well cooked, terrible cut of meat. The cut was too small (~150g) with lines of hard grissIe. I don’t mind paying good money for good food but this was disappointing. I had to then pay ($12) for a small side to round out a meal that left me hungry.

Great experience for dinner at Barrio! Had the most lovely waitresses also. FOOD AMAZING! Loved every single dish we had - peppers with ricotta, octopus, artichoke special (to die for) and the market fish YUMMM Will be back for sure !!

Some delicious tastes - mussels on green garlic paste (!! Yummy), beautifully cooked duck, pasta with prawns etc…well worth a try. Well done the imaginative chefs!!

Could not fault our dinner. It was delicious. The service made us feel like they actually care about the customer. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Thank you Barrio. We’ll be back.

Great food, location and service here in the Arts and industrial section of Byron Bay. Would have given 5 stars for food but the steak, although tasty, was a little tough (along with the rainbow Chard served with it) and a little underdone for my dining partner. Duck which was a special on the night, was amazing. Great spot for a meal anytime and has an attractive outdoor section.

This used to be one of my favourites - the food was incredible and there was always a great vibe. But since there are new owners, the menu is genuinely awful and the food quality was poor. There was no vibe at all, we were pretty much the only ones there. We won’t be back.

Food was AMAZINING!! We had a lovely birthday dinner with family last night and everything was perfect, great service and atmosphere and the food really does speak for itself. We opted for share dishes and a few mains and standouts were the pumpkin hummus, panelle, pate, eggplant, and the pork and sirloin were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back 😀

Just a great feed. Relaxed dining experience with an attentive team. The flavours strike that delightful balance between fresh and bold. Do take the time to seek guidance from the team about quantities, plates are filling. Bring a crew, pop your legs under the table, order well enjoy, and arrange for someone else to do the driving.

Love barrio's coffee. Lovely place for our work team meetings as they have long community tables. In winter the bread oven keeps the place smelling good and nice and warm!

Only had breakfast here. Really good coffees, nice food. Has a really lovely outdoor area.

Much like other reviewers the service was fantastic, the food nice but for the price the portions were very small and didn’t reflect value for the cost. There were only two of us and sharing 3 things and a dessert we left hungry still

I have been to Barrio for breakfast, lunch and dinner many times. The BBQ night on a wednesday is one of my fave evenings of the week - they always have a different menu too. Its a super relaxed atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. I will be back again soon, for sure.

A lot of great flavours. Underated IMO. Didn't manage to snap the mains, the party had already started before I could get the camera out!. But recommend the octopus, beef, prawns, Tarama, cabbage and seaweed

Eaten here a number of times and it has been excellent on each occasion. Both dinner and lunch. Relaxed vibe, mixture of food influences with a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern leaning. Highly recommended.
