So excited to finally try Izakaya Midori!! Have been following all the way from London for a few months now 🙏 How refreshing to know I can eat everything on the sushi menu 🥰 really enjoyed, particularly the chiki avo and veef! Even my 80 year old Nan was saying how tasty they were and she’s a meat eater 👏👏

What an awesome place! Such delicious food with incredible flavours in each dish, one of the best vegan meals we’ve had. The staff are so delightful and friendly and happy as well. Definitely worth a trip for lunch or dinner - we’ll be back!

I booked a table for tonight to celebrate my Son and Husband's Birthday and our son graduating from high school. We have been vegan for 10+ years and have never enjoyed a meal as much as we did tonight. The food is truly amazing, so tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly, our son enjoyed practicing his Japanese speaking skills with them. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

This is hands down the best vegan restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food went far beyond my expectations and really had some unique and great flavours. The service is absolutely tremendous and I really could not find something to fault here if I tried. When I dine, I'm relatively sound sensitive, and the music here was not only played at a reasonable volume, but the playlist was absolutely fire 🔥. I will definitely be returning to try the other items on the menu, even though we had pretty much everything on the menu!

Amazing experience here! The staff are so welcoming and lovely and the ambience was really nice and the music(though the outdoor seating was a bit cold). We loved the Midori ramen. Best vegan ramen we’ve ever tried. Lemon myrtle infusion was lovely. Omakase sushi deluxe was very pretty but I would come back for the Midori ramen instead. The eggplant entree with sweet miso was incredible! I’m already craving it and was here last night! My boyfriend ordered the ramen and said it is the best vegan ramen he’s ever had and he’s a big meat eater! So happy we came from Brisbane to visit this restaurant.

Wow wow wow 🥹💚 An astounding little place. Seriously creative and unique fusion dishes compared to other Japanese restaurants. I’m not vegan but it honestly doesn’t matter because delicious food is for everybody! 👍 Smoked edamame - Such a cool spin to your regular edamame! Beautiful and smoky and so tasty 👍 Agedashi tofu - Super crispy fried tofu in a flavoursome broth. Love the spice kick and the mushrooms 👍 Karage lime chicken - Delicious n fried to perfection, lime sauce was a cool addition. IMO felt more like tofu skins than real chicken 👍 Midori ramen - so smooth and velvety, incredible texture, noodles were nice but would have preferred them to be more bitey. Broth was too salty for me :( 👍 Salmon & tempura veg nigiri - My faves out of the platter 👍 Chicken and avo sushi - Honestly no faults 👍 Space is very cute once you walk through the curtain 👎 Cucumber nigiri - kinda bland and tasteless 👎 Kinda weird location, doesn’t look like much from the outside if first impressions matter to you

The portions may be small, but the flavors are delectable. I highly recommend making a reservation before visiting this establishment as prices can be steep, given the location and level of service. The staff was friendly and our food was prepared swiftly.

This place is a must for every vegan or non vegan who wants to become one or simply try out a healthy plant based Japanese cuisine! Food's always made freshly - their salmon sashimi is almost too real 🤭 I'm looking forward to each time I'm going there - everything is soo Yummy 🥰💕

i absolutely adore Izakaya Midori! their food is even better than the japanese vegan food i had in japan itself! ive had almost every item on the menu and my favourites so far are the creamy corn croquettes, the katsu and the midori ramen 😳 i've seen a few reviews about how it's a little expensive and tbh i believe you get (even more than) what you pay for: incredible food and amazing service! the staff are very amicable. i'm glad i live an hour away from it because if i lived closer i wouldn't be able to resist splurging too often! 🥰😋❤️

By far the best plant based food I've had and the Japanese selection and flavours are truly on point. From the deep fried bucket to the Terichiki and even the Sushi...it all will leave you wanting more. The selection of drinks was good and the service was friendly and efficient. If I could give 6 stars I would. We'll definitely be back here!

I stumbled across this gem while on a recent short trip to Queensland to visit my mother - what an unexpectedly delightful experience. And stumble I did , almost literally, as it was right around the corner from her house ! I’m spite of just walking in off the street and being a lone diner , I was welcomed warmly by the staff . Izakaya Midori is a Japanese plant based eatery , and I was happy to also find some gluten free options. I choose the tempura tofu accompanied by a miso soup . The tempura tofu was amazing- having actually been to Japan I had something to compare it to . And the miso was a very flavoursome side . The place had a relaxed and very green atmosphere- perfect for a vegan eatery . The floors were wooden slats and the dining was casual and there were quite a few random plants dotted about the restaurant, adding to the vibe . One day when I revisit my mother , I will definitely make a point of returning .

As a non-vegan, the food was AMAZING BALLS, i was taken aback by how great the food was!!!! Went with 2 of my friends as one of them is vegan. We enjoyyed the foood soo much and service was definitely 12/10!! They were so friendly and make sure that we were satisfied with our food. Can’t describe how the sashimi carpaccio was SO GOOD AND WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK FOR MORE 🤤 It tasted so much like the real sashimi and even the looks of it 👀 but definitely is plant-based!!! Definitely highly recommended, 12/10 to anyone who’s non-vegan & vegan. No regrets coming here. Food was insta-worth & the environment was so good too! The reviews given by others align to how great the restaurant is. For sure 😍🥺 Thank you so much once again!

SERVE!!! Izakaya Midori is always the best option! The finest Vegan on the coast! Also the only vegan Japanese food on the Gold Coast! Their service is always extremely fantastic, warm and friendly! Shoutout to Vonny/Vonni who is always there and is a bit of a queen ! A lovely and friendly person! She’s cvunty on the phone too We’ve slowly worked our way through the menu, however the menu items for this review are the Sushi, Karaage Curry and Karaage Don. Though I don’t find necessity at all in a meal to have vegan faux meats, the ones at Izakaya Midori are fantastic! Perfect texture and flavour! We had the terichiki avocado sushi, which was the perfect balance of Avocado and Terichiki filling! The food is bought out in a staggered manner so you aren’t crowded with food bought to the table all at once. The Japanese curry is fantastic! The perfect mix between sweet, spicy and umami. For me I would have loved a little more rice so that the balance of rice Vs curry was a little more even however I loved the flavour and texture of the Karaage on the curry also! The terichiki Karaage don was another great option! The ratio of rice Vs protein Vs salad was perfect! As always the hospitality was fantastic and I can not recommend this place enough! Fantastic staff, setting, decor and atmosphere as well as the pricing being great for what you’re getting!

We are not Vegan, yet. But we love eating and the food here was amazing!!! From the starters to the desserts, every single dish was delicious!!! The Ramen was one of the best I have ever had in my life!! 🤤🤤🤤 About the staff? From the moment we got there, a beautiful girl welcomed us with a sweet smile, she happily answer all our questions and served us perfectly. It was a Wednesday and they were busy, that's another indicator that the food here is just perfect!! Seriously, you won't regret it, the ambience is lovely and friendly as the concept they want to share. We are really happy with our experience here. Izakaya Midori is the best sushi place I’ve ever been to. The food was unbelievable and it’s all vegan which is unreal. I have been vegan for 10 years and have travelled to over 80 countries and nowhere does sushi like Izakaya Midori. Yummy yummy! It was my best friend and I’s birthday celebrations and the staff were wonderful and put sparklers in our matcha dessert and sang Happy Birthday to us! What a treat! Thank you!

Yummy Vegan sushi. Very nice outdoor seating on a covered verandah. Friendly service, creative dishes. Portions were a bit small, we had to order more than expected so it was quite pricey in the end. But the food was good and nicely presented.

I have always loved this restaurant ever since it opened, the food spot on, the restaurant is adorable and so are the staff.

Everything we are here was really delicious. We particularly liked the eggplant entree. We had the citrus spray on this and it was absolutely delightful. Everything about this place was truly wonderful. We will definitely be coming back.

Since I'm not vegan I honestly didn't expect vegan food to taste so delicious. The food was amazing. The service was very slow but the taste of the food made up for it. Also, the portions are a bit small so you might want to order more than one dish. But the food couldn't be any better tasting. My first vegan experience but wow, what an experience. Out of this world.

This place is a real gem. The presentation is cute & the dishes are super tasty. Pricing is reasonable and the service is very friendly. There are barely any plant based Japanese restaurants so they have done well in cornering the market. Unfortunately the food is extremely slow to come out. I first came on a friday night and we waited over 45minutes between our entrees & main. This is way too long and not an acceptable wait period. We thought this was maybe just because they were super busy. But I also came back earlier in the night and on a Thursday too and it was the same. It would be perfect if they could get the meals coming out within a more reasonable time.

This was a great surprise! We loved everything we had, it was.hard to stop ourselves from order more on the mission of trying everything on their menu. Prices are great, ambiance amazing and not to mention customer service... Loved everything in this place, every aspect deserves a 10/10. Either you're vegan or not, this place is for the food lover, more specifically for the Japanese food lover. For every bite it's an explosion of flavours! And who would've thought that you've be able to replicate the taste & texture of a fish. I highly reccomend to put the soy sauce aside and just taste all the flavours the chef put into the nigiri sushi. And the miso eggplant? Oh! It's to die for! And the croquettes? Give me a thousand of those please. Now let's take a moment for the service. Everyone is so polite and friendly! Love it! As you can probably tell I'm a fan and will definitely come back for more!

Ting meals but taste good

Love the small intimate atmosphere this place has created in an innocuous suburban back mall with clever use of timbers and screens and most importantly genuine friendly and vibrant staff backed up by beautifully presented and executed Japanese food. The fact that it's vegan doesn't really matter unless it matters to you.

I’m so happy to discover this place! We’ve tried ramen, miso soup and different sushi rolls - everything was delicious, fresh and full of flavor! All staff are amazing people, made us feel so welcomed. Long live Izakaya Midori!

The things these guys do with vegan products astounds me. The amount of flavour they manage to pack into their food is fantastic. Not only one of the the best Vegan restauranslts, but one of the best estaurants period on the Gold coast. A must visit for anyone who like Japanese food.
