The site is newly excavated somewhere around 2005 (unconfirmed) and is remains of Ballal Sen's palace. This alongwith Jahajghata and Baishgazi (22 yards) wall are all places of historic interest which are located nearby. The basic problem here is, there are no guides, no officials in the area who can throw light upon the monument. Infact, the boards hosted at the site are completely washed away and are totally unreadable. One of the main reason for Gour not being a hot tourist spot despite being in the similar status of Murshidabad, Bishnupur etc, is lack / non availability of information at the site. There are no persons / officials available near the sites to explain the importance, historic relevancy to the visitors, barring a couple. Authorities should look into this aspect to attract more crowd. Recommended.

Ballalbati is a relatively new addition to the ancient charm of Gour. Archaeological Excavations have unearthed the existence of ancient palaces from the glorious periods of Bengal's history. However the sites have almost zero surveillance and a lot of ancient ruins have been hijacked. Its a popular picnic destination for the locals though visit is not recommended in the evening.

The Ballal bowl was discovered only in 2003 and till now very little history is known about it from historical sources. Legend has it that underground were the remains of the palace of King Ballal Sena (or Ballal Sen) of the Sena dynasty. Excavations revealed the foundations of a larger building, but it is suspected to be the site of a palace. I heard from a local that they were used for indigo cultivation in ancient Gouda. Another theory suggests that these are Buddhist "viharas" or remains of monasteries, so further research is needed to unravel the mystery.

A Historical Landmark at Gour Malda, probably worked as old dock in medieval period. Re-opened after lockdown recently. Calm and quiet, away from the chaos of town, in the midst of Mango tree garden.

Worst protection by ASI at this remains.....a remarkable part of Hindu reign in Bengal, its history and domain seems deliberately neglected.

An excavation site surrounded by mango orchards, which became famous after a Buddhist inscription was recently .Unfortunately/fortunately entry into the ruins has been restricted by ASI.

Historical place.: Ballal Bati is a relatively newly excavated site within the enclosure of Baish Gazi wall where a royal palace of Ballal Sen supposedly existed This place is closely associated with the name of Ballal Sen, the king of Gaur. From what I see it looks like it was a kitchen. It can be part of any castle. This place may have been used for cooking food for soldiers.
