Tower,
known
locally
as
Ghanta
Ghar,
stands
as
a
significant
landmark
in
Sukkur
city,
located
in
Northern
Sindh,
Pakistan.
This
clock
tower
serves
as
a
junction
for
four
distinct
roads,
including
Hussaini
Road,
Barrage
Road,
Minaar
Road,
and
Shaheed
Ganj
Road.
Rising
to
a
height
of
90
feet,
it
features
four
clocks
that
once
marked
the
passage
of
time
on
each
of
its
four
sides.
In
days
gone
by,
the
resonating
sounds
of
the
tower's
bells
echoed
throughout
the
city,
especially
during
the
night
when
life
slowed
down,
and
the
usual
daily
hustle
became
subdued.
Commonly
referred
to
as
Ghanta
Ghar,
this
tower
holds
a
paramount
position
among
the
city's
landmarks.
Situated
right
in
the
heart
of
the
city,
it
is
encircled
by
Victoria
Market,
Mehran
Markaz,
hotels,
and
shopping
malls.
Constructed
by
a
Hindu
businessman,
Seth
Wadho
Mal
Nebhau
Mal
Manjhari,
the
tower
was
erected
to
commemorate
the
silver
jubilee
of
King
George
V.
Its
inauguration
took
place
in
1937,
officiated
by
the
then
Collector
of
Sukkur,
UM
