Jinnah Bagh, originally known as Tajar Bagh or Tajar Building, was constructed during the rule of the Kalhora Empire. This garden still houses the historical monument ‘Tajar’, a building which has got earthen pitcher pots place upside down on its terrace to keep it cool even during scorching heat of summer days. Jinnah Bagh or Tajar Bagh is situated on a vast piece of land in the centre of the town.

The federal and Sindh governments are in a tug of war over the restoration work on a historical building in Larkana, it has been reliably learnt. The Sindh government through a multi-million-rupee project wants to restore and rehabilitate the historical Tajjar Building, which is protected under the Antiquities Act 1975, but the federal archaeology department refuses to grant permission for it, according to sources. Situated in the heart of Larkana, the historical building said to be built by Nawab Wali Mohammad Khan Leghari, a prime minister of the Mir rulers, in the early 19th century is in a shambles. Secretary of the Sindh Antiquities Department Kaleem Lashari, who had prepared the restoration plan, approached the federal government for the permission so that glories of one of the most impressive buildings in Larkana could be restored. The construction of a memorial for the late Nawab Leghari at the building was also part of the proposed restoration project.

The Tajjar Building a small but an impressive brick structure 42’x42 is located close to the south case of Town Hall inside the Jinnah Bagh at Larkana. The building was tactfully decorated with glazed tile work and floral fresco paining the traces of which were found out. This building is now protected at Department of Antiquities and Archaeology Government of Sindh.

Tajjar Building, Larkana The Tajjar building a small but an impressive brick structure 42’x42’ is located close to the south east of Town Hall inside the Jinnah Bagh at Larkana. It consists of 3 apartments, a central hall 14’x38’ with two side galleries each measuring 8’x38’. At the time of its construction the building was test fully decorated with glazed tile work and floral fresco paintings, the traces of which were found out. The Tajjar building by the passage of time fell victim to the human hands and underwent many additions and alterations striping of its, all original grandeur. Giles, Commissioner of Sindh, set up library in this building in the year 1864 A.D.  which later on followed by the creation of  a local broad-casting station. Also the building was used as a canteen for a considerable time. Few specimen of stone plinth, wood and mosaic required for future conservation bring the monument back to its own old glary were collected from the contemporary Mirs tombs at Hyderabad and got approved from the Chairman, Pakistan National Centre, Islamabad.
