An incredible mausoleum for the Serbian royal family with more than 700 works with nearly 1500 different tones of colours of the Murano glasses. This is a must if you visit Serbia. The tickets are for 4 different facilities around Topola and cost near 5€. Worth to visit.

A wonderful place to visit. Many rooms to see, and take in the experience. Much history and relics all over. This church is in use today and a great place to sit and worship. There is a gift shop and donations are welcome as well. Take your time in this one, and be amazed at all the wonderful little things to see.

It is shame that they are asking entrance fee for the church. It is not the case around the world in way more populare churches/cathedrals/mosques and in Serbia as well. I as an Orthodox Christian can not enter the church, it is ridiculous and not to say how rude they are at the entrance like they own the world. I understand if crypts are extra and tbey ask for the ticket but not alowing people to go inside and see frescoes is a big shame of Serbian church or whoever owns this place. Just couple of years ago it was free. Church itself is beautiful.

(Translated by Google) The Church of St. George in Oplenac is a memorial church and mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic dynasty, which was built as his endowment by King Peter I Karadjordjevic. Oplenac is a hill near Topola where Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević built the first vineyards, and King Petar I Karađorđević started building the church mausoleum and the entire historical-memorial complex, which will later become the Endowment of King Peter I in Oplenac. Today, the complex includes, in addition to the church of St. George, the mausoleum of the Serbian royal family, the king's vineyards and winery, the Vinogradar's house, the house of King Peter in Oplenac and Karadjordjev konak within Karadjordjev grad in Topola. Kraljeva and Kraljičina vila are under the administration of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, while Hotel Oplenac was previously privatized. The name of the hill comes from the oplen, wooden parts of ox-carts which were made of oak and cera with which this hill was covered. The church is a five-domed building. The inner length of the temple is 30 meters, and the height of the vault is 27 meters. The church is placed on a high plinth made of massive white marble, from Venčac.

(Translated by Google) The church is in a beautiful oak forest and that's it. Maybe we would see if it is beautiful inside, if they hadn't asked us for 500 dinars for the entrance! I don't know if it is the official position of the Serbian Orthodox Church or the decision of an individual bishop, but it is shameful in any case. They should offer their believers peace, not a tariff!

A place of historical significance for the modern Serbian state, well maintained and with a calming, serene atmosphere. Would recommend visiting, especially on a clear spring day. There's a nice view of the vineyards right behind the church. There is an entrance fee of 500rsd (about 4,3 EUR)but it covers all important landmarks in the vicinity.

The place is really really impressive and a must to see but the ladies who are working in the church and the Museum on the hill of Oplenac are hopeless. All they do the whole day is receive messages on their phones and smoke cigarettes and shake their head when you ask something. I got help from a very decent gentleman who had a great knowledge on a few questions I asked but the ladies made me feel like I'm in a place where it's stupid to ask questions. Find the gentleman if you need information and ignore the ladies. It's a beautiful place to be, do not miss it if you're around Topola.

We visited the Church of St. George and the Museum but it was so worth it. The frescoes are really beautiful but you want to make sure to visit on a bright and sunny day to get a full scope of beautiful colors (especially gold and opal) glistening and shining in full power. Our luck was a bit different but still with overcast day we managed to get some nice pictures. The museum, although small, has very interesting things from the royal family on display.

The area is really lovely, from the parking a pedestrian small street between the threes is going up to the hill. No more than 150 metres. The church outside is really nice, the white call really makes a difference from the green threes. The inside of the church is spectacular, with the mosaics and the colos. There is a guide at the entrance that will shortly explain the history. There was a ticket when I when there, 4oo din, but you also use the same ticket to check the house of Petar, the house of winery and Karadjordjev Konak, which can take you, up to two hours walking in really nice area with wonderful landscape. However, the church is great, check the pictures and videos, but it is a must see and you can learn Serbian history. Hint, check with the guide, why there is one grave outside the church, and there are 12 empty ones inside.... The house of Petar, just infront of the church, you can see some paintings of Karadhodje family, mainly from Aleksandar l and Marija, as well some personal items from that time. This is the second site seeing to be seen after the church of Gjorge. The third is the wine house at the gate of the complex, the house from outside looks very nice, but when I was there I was disappointed by the art paintings from a serbian painter. The fourth site seeing is the Karadjorge Konak, check this too, is the second best after the church. It can be good day off from Belgrade, you need 1 hour to get there by car, around 2 hours of the site seeing and plus for lunch for roasted pork and lamb, check 'pecenjara' type of restaurants, with fresh and tasty pork.

(Translated by Google) The Church of St. George in Oplenac is a memorial church and mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic dynasty, which was built on the hill Oplenac, which is located near Topola. The name of this hill comes from the oplena, the wooden parts of the ox-carts which were made of oak and cera with which this hill was covered. Topola has been an important town since the First Serbian Uprising. In 1804, Djordje Petrovic settled near this town in the village of Krcevac. Topla became the capital and center of state life of liberated Serbia. In the period between 1811 and 1813, a fortified city was built, surrounded by a moat with three-storey towers and ramparts for the immediate defense of Topola and military maneuvers. Inside the fortified city, there was a family and guest residence, as well as the church of the Most Holy Mother of God, better known as Karadjordj's church. The bell tower of the church was located in the southeastern tower of the fortress, and its three bells cast in the poplar in the Lower Town of the Belgrade Fortress were the first bells to be rung in free Serbia. However, with the collapse of the First Serbian Uprising and the return of the Turkish army, Karadjordjev's town was destroyed and set on fire. With the rise of Prince Miloš and the execution of Karađorđe, Topola, understandably, lost its original significance. This region will experience a new bright moment with the rise of Karadjordj's son, Prince Alexander, who with special care restored his father's vineyards and orchards on the eastern slopes of Oplenac, building a spacious house and a wine cellar. This mausoleum was built by King Peter I Karadjordjevic. Today, the complex includes the church of St. George, the mausoleum of the Serbian royal family, the king's vineyards and wool factory, the Vinogradar's house, the house of King Peter and Karadjordjev konak. The construction of the Church of St. George began with the construction in 1910 according to the plans of Kosta Jovanović. During the Austro-Hungarian occupation, in 1915, the church was looted. The copper cover from the domes and roofs was removed and taken away, as well as the copper decorative formwork from the portal. Also, the lightning rod and bells disappeared. Many windows, marble columns and ornaments were broken. Under the pretext that an important archive could be stored there, the occupiers desecrated the graves in the crypt. The church was consecrated in 1930 by Patriarch Varnava. Worship was performed in it in 1947.

I must admit that the Church of Holy Martyr George is the most beautiful church in Serbia. From the inside, walls are covered in mosaics consisting of 40,000,000 glass pieces in 15,000 different color shades. It literally makes people speechless at the moment they reach doorstep. As a part of a Royal Complex, this is one of a unique attractions in Serbia, besides other cultural locations in Topola.

Mausoleum-church of the Karadjordjevich royal dynasty of Serbia with a crypt, it is known for its' white marble facades and the interior decoration consisting of 725 mosaic compositions that copy original medieval works of art from 60 serbian monasteries and churches. A famous portable masterpiece of the church is a mother-of-pearl icon depicting the Last Supper (Ultima Cena) by Da Vinci. The item was handcrafted in Beit Sahour, near Bethlehem, and was offered to King Alexander I in 1924 by the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Damian I, when the later visited Belgrade. The mausoleum-church was built between 1910-1930 according to the plans of architect Konstantin J. Jovanovic. It was founded by King Peter I (1844-1921), grandson of the ruler who started the Karadjordjevich dynasty (Djordje Petrovic Karadjordje, 1762-1817).

Modern Serbian state was founded by two dynasties - the Obrenović's and Karađorđević's. The latter one's historical seat is Topola, where King Peter I of Serbia built mausoleum church for his family. All Serbian rulers coming from Karađorđević dynasty are burried in church. The church of the Holy Martyr George is remarkable with its mosaic frescoes and spectacular crypt. The frescoes are replicas of the most famous ones from various Serbian Medieval monasteries. The color specter includes more than 15,000 various nuances. Worth seeing and spending an afternoon at this historical place.
