Unfortunately we were not impressed, at all. We stayed in a cabin which was only decently maintained. Attic access was open, light bulbs were out, fridge was very old and noisy, it was musty/dusty. Once we got by the dirtiness, the lounge area was great, nice people good service. The restaurant was horrible, poor service, cold food and even poorer attitudes. We were tempted to leave without ordering, and wish we had. When approached by the manager he was condescending and quite rude. We actually felt very uncomfortable and the others in our group were insulted. The cabin rotunda was loud into the night with party goers. Overall a poor experience and we wont return or refer others. If you like overpaying for bad food, service and accommodations then this is the place for you. I think the overall good reviews are mainly because of the location which is great. Not much around there, I'm confident that if someone opened lodgings next door this place would go out of business.

I love Alderbrook so much. They have held a special place in my heart for almost 15 years. The last few years things have changed. The rooms are not nearly as clean as they use to be, even though the head of housekeeping seems like she wants them to be- she’s nice and attentive, but the cleaning staff must be overworked, understaffed and very rushed. The bathroom smelled so bad last time. At the very least the toilets should be clean- ours still had urine and hair around the base and the shower curtain was so sour. The blankets and pillows (the ones on the window and on top of the bed) are not as clean and fresh. Disinfecting doesn’t seem a priority anymore- maybe as a society we’re simply over being cautious, but hotels should still be. We actually got strep throat after staying- which could’ve been from the room, or another guest in the lobby in passing….? The pool area didn’t receive any updates from the renovation, and the front desk staff and reception isn’t as warm and caring. Although the valet guys are always really welcoming. The restaurant service however was phenomenal. Although I have to say the prices are steep, the food quality is pretty good. And the awesome service and atmosphere are very lovely. We still love it here and return, I’m honestly just sad when we are so needing a break and want to come and relax, that I’m not as comfortable there (because of the rooms) or feel as excited to have an escape. Over 15 years we’ve probably stayed here around 15+ times and it’s been the last 3 stays consistently that have been downhill (2021-2023).

Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and tidy. The resort grounds were breathtaking. Very nice walkable paths and waterfront. Keep your eyes open for the cats, Alder & Brook. Great place to bring the family. Fun activities for the kids. Enjoy your time...

Sad ⭐️Restaurant New owners & maybe new chef also? The restaurant is not the same.sadly. Once was our favorite restaurant. Now The menu is limited and very expensive the menu items did not change from a year ago! We did not like what we ordered a year ago so we had to choose something else. One pasta dish $26 Ala cart bland mushrooms onion and bland sauce no meat. Extra $10 Dinner Side Salad $9 -$15 Sad 20% Service charge now not before . Service is subpar because there is no incentive to earn a tip now. We heard the table behind us complaining to the waiter about this. They act annoyed when you just ask for water refill. Honest feedback for improvement. Beautiful place still kind front desk employees.🙂

Great place to relax for the weekend, the Spa is amazing and the nearby hiking trails were beautiful. The only significant detractor from an otherwise upscale resort is the restaurant food is sub-par for high-end resort. Staying at the resort there are not many other food options available so we ate at the restaurant for every meal. Even simple dishes such as a Caesar salad with salmon tasted not quite right. I would have given the resort five stars if the restaurant quality was better.

Cozy winter vibes, beautiful scenery, and I absolutely loved the nook in the waterfront room! Definitely a plus that they have a nice, indoor tub/pool & nature trails nearby so there were quite a few activities even for the winter. I’d say this was a fun Seattle escape and I’m excited to come back in the summer and take advantage of the outdoor spaces. Highly recommend!

Wonderful resort. Beautiful setting. They're dog friendly which I appreciate as I have a dog, and many places aren't dog friendly. Nice pool as well. The restaurant has great food although the automatic 20% service charge on the bill is annoying. We will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Beautiful resort in a stunning location on Hood Canal looking at the Olympic Mountains. Great trails for hiking, dock for mooring, and easy launch for kayaking. Beautiful setting for a wedding. Very disappointed with the food quality in the dining room. Excellent kind and attentive service, but food was very expensive for mediocre soggy chicken Caesar salad that had very dry chicken. Grand Marnier prawns were excellent. I was shocked by the additional service charge for the meal in addition to the tip. Sadly, as a local who would enjoy eating there, I won't be returning for dining.

Can't praise this place, and particularly the staff enough. Beautiful views, rustic location, amazing amenities especially for young families. We got high chairs and pack-n-plays in our rooms for our infant twins, for no extra charge. That's already above and beyond what most name brand hotels will do for young families. Their Birthday package is well thought through, and attractively priced. The staff is the best I've encountered in a long while and I travel a lot. They redefined going above and beyond. We visited during the winters holidays and the holiday decor, lights and fire pit made for a great mood.

Normally, when I go to Alderbrook, they provide excellent service and comforts worthy of the high price. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was awful. A friend and I attended an event at the resort and decided to stay the night. The listed amenities were influential in our decision; a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and pool sound like a great ending to our evening to relax before bed. The hot tub was cold, and in repair, the steam room didn't work and smelled like mold. There was no improvement the next day. The event we attended, although it was nice, did not clearly state the FULL price up front, and was not a value at $150/per person. The wine "pairing" came from the bar and didn't help keep us warm while outside in February. I will not return to this place until they clean up their act AND their amenities. Too bad, Alderbrook, I'll miss the good times.

My husband and I honeymooned at Alderbrook Resort and Spa this summer and had the best time. It was both of our first trip to Washington state and this little gem in Union, WA did not disappoint. There are personal touches throughout the grounds - from the resort cats to the linens to the fine dining. The food was excellent and the staff was very personable. It felt like family! We will definitely be back in the future.

My dad shoots the fireworks for black Friday, New years, and the 3rd of July every year since before I was born, so I have gotten very familiar with the resort over the years. Alderbrook is my favorite place to be around the holidays because of it's cozy environment, amazing customer service, and kid friendly activities.

Highly recommend this fantastic resort! The staff is friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is beautiful. We had never been to this area and were so glad to have chosen such a beautiful place to stay while we explored the area.

Absolutely wonderful experience at Alderbrook. The room was beautiful, with so many thoughtful touches and attention to detail. We brought our two dogs and found it to be the best place to stay with them. We had a door from our room that went out to an enchanting courtyard where we could walk them whenever we wanted to. The grounds and all the properties are so well kept and inviting. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. We ordered room service from the restaurant each night and the food was a highlight. Perfectly prepared and exquisitely plated, every dish was delicious and beyond our expectations. We’ll definitely be back.
